I love the older episodes, it would be good to revisit the past storyline if possible. Thank you

Very sad. the hymn singing was beautiful. I remember reading in an Archers book that due to a BBC strike at the time, it was a professional recording. Whatever. It suited the moment perfectly.

I am an ex Archers production manager. We had recorded the service and hymn especially, on location, but the Musicians' Union complained and we had to use a BBC library disc, this with only a couple of hours to go before transmisson. Glad you enjoyed the end result!

Was it meant to end with the choir singing or is this recording cut short?
@RandomRadioJottings4 жыл бұрын
Hi, just double-checked my original recording and it did indeed end with the choir. No Archers theme.

@@RandomRadioJottings Originally, they had recorded the congregation singing the hymn, but they had to cut it because of a threatened strike because they were not in the actors' sunion, so it was replaced at the last minute by a cathedral choir recording!

Shula later married Mark in the end and stayed married to him until he died - in real life, the actress who plays Shula is married to the actor who plays Brian Aldredge - her sister’s husband in the programme!

Arthur Vasey I remember she broke off the first engagement in 1981. Went out with Nigel then discovered she really did love Mark around 1984. Beautiful storyline that took years to play out.
