I tuned in for the motorcycle ride but appreciate the brief history lesson and views of the bridge. You're right about the freedoms enjoyed by Europeans and westerners being a direct result of your grandfather's service. A heartfelt thank you to him and your family for your sacrifices.

Ditto....that said, I am struggling with buying the Wet head or a used 1200 air/ oil. Thoughts? Has the wet-head been treating its owners ok, or are they fraught with problems like HD's? Thanks for the ride. Trying the best I could, I have never been able to make it to that side of the pond. About the heat.... Get you a Motoport Suit! Great video TMF - thank you for taking us along. Big dry-bag plus top-box is my preferred touring luggage too. I like the way the bag supports your back and kind of gathers you up when you set off.

Great sentiment on our WWII heroes. I was lucky enough to travel to Bergen Op Zoom Netherlands with my grandfather in '04, who fought with the Canadian army and their regiment was part of that town's liberation. We went to Nijmegen and on to Arnhem for some 60th anniversary VE Day events. Before that, we stayed in East Grinstead, visited a now - private boys school where in 1944 he stayed with other soldiers before the D Day invasion. Also some local pubs where they hung out. What a trip that was. thanks for bringing back the memories for me and honouring our veterans.

Nothing better than a TMF tour series, and the anticipation at the start of a humongous one is palpable. Nice glimpse of some new kit there. Looking forward to seeing what it is and how it performs. Can’t tell yet what it is, but I bet it was pricey! I’m guessing gore tex. Great start.

First video of you that I'm watching and it's absolutely splendid. Well done. At 15.58 you're about a kilometer of my home actually, so that's nice to see as well. And you're absolutely right about the history of this area. A lot happened between here and Arnhem/Nijmegen. 17th of September we have the Market Garden commemoration on the Ginkelse Hei (about 10km along the highway from 15.58). It's still amazing. Hundreds of paratroopers from several countries jump then and we even had veterans jumping up to 2014 or so. Sad to hear your grandfather lost his life here in the war. He paid the ultimate price for our freedom. I can't take enough time to remember and thank these wonderful people who gave their lives for all of us.

It's been hugely enjoyable already, TMF, so I'd better strap myself down when we get to Oslo. What an exciting route plan. I'm not so sure about the height of that deckhead, though. At 6'7" I'd have my head down on the tank of my GS at that stage. Scary! I'm now really looking forward to the rest of this series. Safe roads 👍

Great ride TMF I was stationed in Osnabruck Germany with the Army for years. Holland and Germany were extremely clean and organized. My buddy bought a brand new ZZR600 their after we came back from a 6-month tour in Bosnia, I bought his car from him, he then proceeded to get his laces caught in the foot pegs and dropped the Kawi on its side and bust open the crankcase with all of 10km on it... Ironically I had to give him a ride home in his car I just bought, while he sulked like a baby all the way back to Devon... Thanks for taking us along for the ride!!!
