"I love the idea of just flying through a battle without necessarily focusing on any one point of action" The Battle of Endor did this SO well. "Watch yourself Wedge, three from above." "Red Three, Red Two, pull in." Then suddenly we'll be following the Y-Wing pilot with the RFB sticker on his helmet. Etc. In other words I completely agree with you and I think this is part of the reason RotJ is STILL the high water mark for space battles.

I whole heartedly agree. Most directors and creative teams have little idea how to handle mass air/space combat though, because they have no experience with it. George Lucas based his battles on the old WWII films, which mostly had input from the guys who did that sort of thing IRL. It's hard to get that sort of thing nowadays. Even most games nowadays rarely have more than a 4v4 or 5v5 encounter (Squadrons, etc). If you ever get a chance to fly in a large virtual tournament with huge 30+ ship dogfights, I highly recommend it. Battle of Endor is the closest I've seen in film to the experience, with Rogue One a solid second.

@@kenetickups6146 , Absolutely... I was just not happy with how Rogue One ended. :( I have rewritten the ending... but, I don't have the tools, knowledge, or skill, to make my own edition, so it's only based on words/imagination. Scene A Strike Team is assembled and is sent to Scariff (Jyn goes with them because her father gave her codes to the plans). Bail Organa, directs Leia Organa to cancel her diplomatic mission and head to Scariff system (in case the Strike Team can't physically leave with the plans). Scene B Bail Organa convinces Rebel Alliance High Command to send in a task group to cover Leia, in case things go wrong. Scene C Strike Team lands without a problem. Strike Team head for the database. Scene D Tantiv IV arrives on the out skirts of the system. Scene E System scan detects Tantiv IV, probe droid is sent to investigate. Ready duty Star Destroy is alerted. Scene F Strike Team retrieve the plans and head to their ship. Scene G Probe Droid spots Tantiv IV, launches tracker, just as it is destroyed by Tantiv IV gunners. Tracker connects to Tantiv IV unnoticed. Star Destroyer moves to intercept Tantiv IV. Scariff Control is alerted to the presence of an unknown ship, and start security protocols to shut down the base. Scene H Klimmik rushes towards the database and is intercepted by the Strike Team. He recognizes Jynn, as his personal escorts are killed. He flees unharmed. Scene I Strike Team destroys their transport then moves to secure a communications room; killing all Storm Troopers they encounter. Scene J Star Destroyer makes a micro-jump and appears too far to engage Tantiv IV, but launches three squadrons of Tie Fighters. Captain of Tantiv IV, requests support from Rebel Task Group. Scene K Strike Team fights its way through Storm Troopers to communications room and capture it. They initiate communication with Tantiv IV. Scene L Rebel Task Group enters system closer to the Star Destroyer than to Tantiv IV. Task Group sends all fighters to the aid of Tantiv IV while the ships engage Star Destroyer. Note: Rebel Task Group consists of 4 to 6 corvettes, 2 or 3 frigates, a light carrier (6 squadrons of fighters), and a destroyer. Scene M Star Destroyer launches remaining Tie Fighters. Star Destroyer reports to higher command that system is under attack; which alerts Lord Vader. Scene N Storm Troopers encircle the Strike Team around the area of the communications room. Storm Troopers slowly push Strike Team back. Strike Team kills wounded companions who are unable to move. Scene O Tantiv IV is engaged by the Tie Fighters before Rebel Fighters arrive. Tantiv IV destroys a few Tie Fighters. Tie Fighters launch proton torpedoes; Tantiv IV shields hold. Scene P Storm Troopers secure a hallway to the communication's room. Kassian uses a thermo-detonator to delay their advance. Explosion also kills a few more injured companions. Scene Q Star Destroyer nails a Rebel Frigate vaporizing it quickly. Rebel Task Group maneuvers to attack Star Destroyer's engines. Tie Fighters destroy a corvette, while frigates destroy several of them. (entire "Scene is more of a sequences of scenes, lasting only 30 to 45 seconds). Scene R Klimmik goes to the fighting with reinforcements. Demands of the captain of Storm Troopers to be there when they capture/interrogate the Strike Team. Scene S Rebel Fighters arrive to help Tantiv IV. Tie Fighters launch torpedoes; Tantiv IV's shields go down. Fighters on both side are destroyed. Scene T Storm Troopers attack communication room's primary access point. Kassian chucks several thermo-detonators before making it into the communication room's secured chamber. Only Jynn and Kassian remain. Scene U the final Tie Fighter launches their last barrage of proton torpedoes on the Tantiv IV before being destroyed. At the very last moment, fighter rams into torpedo saving Tantiv IV. Scene V Badly damaged Rebel Task Group has flanked the Star Destroyer. Tie Fighters damage several ships. Tie Fighters destroy another corvette. Rebel Task Group disables Star Destroyer's engines. Scene W Kassian moves to the communications, and orders Tantiv IV that they aren't to be extracted as extraction is impossible. Kassian talks to Jynn about causes, sacrifice, and the willingness to die for a cause, the willingness to kill oneself to protect the cause. He pulls out his last thermo-detonator saying this is for us. Jynn takes it from his hand. Scene X Stortrooopers detonate the breaching charges, killing Kassian. Jynn is knocked unconscious, her hand behind her still holds the thermo-detonator. Scene Y Rebel Fighters arrive to aid Rebel Task Group. Rebel fighters engage Tie Fighters and launch torpedoes at Star Destroyer. Scene Z Klimmik enters the communication room. He goes to Jynn as she's regaining consciousness. The two talk for a bit. Jynn looks at Kassian when she says that some causes are worth dying for. Looking at Klimmik again, she sets off the thermo-detonator in his face. Scene AA Tantiv IV's com officer announces transmission complete. Tantiv IV's captain informs Leia Organa that the plans have been received and are ready to depart. Scene AB Wreckage of Star Destroyer is centered on screen, as four more Star Destroyers exit hyperspace. Scene AC Lord Vader is on the bridge looking at Scariff when the captain informs him that the data center is secured and no ships are present. Also, the data center confirms that one ship was tagged with a tracker. Lord Vader sends one ship to investigate how the security breach happened, while directing the others to hunt for the escaped vessel. Scene AD Queue Credits This makes it all points of the movie mesh with all information and dialogue from Episode IV... I'm still not happy with the over-use of the Death Star (it should never been used to destroy Jed'hai)... but this also gives people a visual orgy of space combat in Star Wars with ships vs ship and fighter vs fighter... in two separate, but related, fights occurring simultaneously.

@@aralornwolf3140 first of, tie fighters dont have proton torpedos. And how can a small rebel task force enter an important imperial facility and its data without being detected. Im also not really a fan of krennic and jyn just having a chat. There are a lot of smaller things that I don’t like, but it takes far to long to talk about all of them. Watching this, the Exegol part, I'm left wondering----Why not have the superlaser ship weapons each function as one of the multiple beams that the actual Death Stars fired, then combined into the planet-killer shot? It would still be bad, from a story-breaking perspective, but it's a lot LESS bad if, to destroy a planet, we don't need one of these new ships, but instead we need a dozen (or two dozen, or whatever) all fire-linked and executing their shots while hovering in a pattern and having a minute to spool things up and let fly. That would have been visually awesome, and scary powerful, but still something that seems more in line with the tech we're familiar with, and it still gives the other side a chance to step in and disrupt the firing pattern at the last second. It even gives you the chance to do Rogue-One style 'single reactor ignition' shots that do massive yet limited damage to a world, for which you might only need three of these ships firing together. Just a thought I had, others likely got there first but I don't recall seeing it discussed.

Yeah, I’ve thought that before. The two death stars and star killer base are absolutely massive so it’s hard to believe they fit all of that technology into a single star destroyer. An individual star destroyer with a really strong laser would still be cool if it couldn’t destroy planets by itself, it’d just be more reasonable.
@clancykohl
@clancykohl 2 жыл бұрын
well the dish of the Deathstar was what made the lasers join and stuff. Like "lasers" in Star Wars are actually just Plasma, same goes for the Deathstar. The smaller "Lasers" of the DS basically just spew out the Plasma which then was directed towards the target by force fields generated by the dish.
@SubduedRadical
@SubduedRadical 2 жыл бұрын
@@JaretOnKZfaq To be fair, Starkiller Base was kind of UNreasonable, considering it was a planet (complete with an ecosystem, trees, etc) that could shoot a planet killing death beam that traveled faster than light speed for seemingly no reason and with no known technology (no hyperdrive motivator on a beam of plasma, and stargates/hyperspace gates don't exist in Star Wars as far as we know) to instantly destroy several different planets with one blast with pinpoint accuracy. Starkiller Base itself made no sense in the lore or anything. And I say this as a person that actually DID enjoy and like The Force Awakens. That part of the movie just, to this day, bothers me anyway.

While I agree that Star Tours shouldn't worry about canon, theoretically I think it'd be entirely possible for a battle between an Imperial fleet made up of mostly out of date Venators and a Rebel fleet made of old Separatist ships. Maybe not over Coruscant, tho, Palps wouldn't put the defense of his capital to such an outdated fleet lol
@clancykohl
@clancykohl 2 жыл бұрын
Could be fairly shortly after EP3, even before the actual Rebel Alliance was a thing. Like we see Venators still in service, while they build that Deathstar prototype. And even though the Droid units where deactivated and the Separatist leaders killed, there where still quiet some underlings that fairly well could just push the on switch on their Droid armies again, I believe. And with such an army they could stage an attack on Coruscant. Maybe some guy that knew of the secret Hyperspace routes, that Grivous used to get there in EP3. And they would technically be considered "Rebels".

Star Tours is very possibly one of the most important additions to SW fandom. Long before the redesign, the original feature was a wild ride first person through an entirely original look at the universe culminating in helping with the Death Star assault. BTW the original version was not in 3d, and the droids including C-3PO & R2-D2 were animatronics

That ship in the background is called 'the wellerman' in reference to the song. It's in the background of a lot of Battle of Couscant scenes (usually where light is behind it) this is, in reference to sailors being marooned and when their captains set their people adrift/ left them to die in search pursuit of a whale (Palpatine/ Grievous).

In the first video, I think the unknown ships you saw were in fact simply haulers for cargo container (such as used on the GR-75 and bulk haulers,) as it looked like they each had a row cargo containers lined up from the front to the back, sort of like they were arriving or departing from the planet, or transferring containers between ships, and got caught in the middle of the battle.

Fleet battle between Grand admiral Thrawn vs. Ender Wiggin Each one has an equal sized fleet with equally capable subordinates, and since Ender is from a different universe each has equal understanding of the technology they’re using. They are in command of Star Wars vessels. Pick a famous fleet of your choosing I’d suggest death squadron.
@depressedTrent

Yes! That would be truly something! Just don't throw Ender against Tarkin, that would be probably very short and humiliating experience for imperial navy... 😂

@@depressedTrent Tarkin was a strategist not a tactician really. Also evident in his attitude in not accepting defeat and retread not being a viable option, wich is pretty stupid in tactical terms but not so much in strategic ones
@depressedTrent
@depressedTrent 2 жыл бұрын
@@clancykohl it's dumb on strategic level as well. Sometimes falling back is excellent way how to manipulate your enemy where you want them. But more importantly, Tarkin didn't understand his own people nor his enemy - look on his insisting on almost suicidal fighters, which made many imperial pilots rather join rebels pretty quickly, or big capital ships, great for projecting power to keep citizens in line, but rather useless against enemy like Rebels, operating primarily small and agile ships and implementing guerrilla tactics - you are wasting expensive battleship, requiring lots and lots of resources and people, to typically hunt down just individual small corvettes and smuggler ships - it's like when Americans on middle east was making new "doors" into buildings occupied by enemy with super expensive guided AT missiles - absolutely not worth it, but they simply didn't have anything more appropriate for doing so. Imperial navy was built for power projecting and fighting more or less conventional and symmetrical combat, not countermeasuring guerrillas, and Tarkin was insisting on keeping this way.
@clancykohl
@clancykohl 2 жыл бұрын
@@depressedTrent well you don't make "falling back" your strategy, is what I'am saying. Like on a the really grand scheme of things that Tarkin was operating on. It would mean giving the enemy like whole Sectors or something. It would hardly ever make sense, even in a ruse.

Hey, this isn't my Star Tours! But seriously. This is (as I would expect it to be) completely different from what I experienced the last time I went in 98 or 99. I'm assuming what I experienced was much closer to the old footage shown in the beginning of the video, but I don't remember any important details. I think the special edition of RotJ just did it's stint in theaters at that point, maybe my ride had some updates from the SE, I dunno. Oh yeah for anyone that cares, an episode of Rebels sees the crew steal one of the Star Tours shuttles, complete with the original captain droid. Nice throwback. Edit: and for anyone that's curious, was in I'm pretty sure 8th grade when I last went, so it'd have to be either dec 98 or jan 99.

@@InventorZahran I believe I remember that now that you've jogged my memory. Bad Batch was pretty awesome, but I have only watched it once-ish so far.
