I doubt Joker would have played with Batman in the previous year. He hasn’t fully realized his persona at this point. Plus, if he had Batman wouldn’t be so disturbed by being called out by Riddler.

SO PAPERCLIP AND YELLOW STICKY NOTE ARE GONE. PAERCLIP IS TO ESCAPE, AND STICKYNOTE IS FOR ORIGAMI AS A CLUE TO HIS FIRST KILL, FOR BATMAN TO FIGURE OUT. CANT REMEMBER IF ITS A CARTOON MOVIE OR BTAS OR ONE OF THE OTHER BATMAN CARTOON SERIES, BUT JOKER USES ORIGAMI AS CLUES FOR BATMAN. I THINK HE ALSO DID THE PAPER CUT OUTS BUT WITH TEARS

*Awesome review/analysis video of the Arkham.Joker deleted scene, **#BobaTalks**! :D As savory as this scene is, I can understand why had to be cut, but maybe they can reuse/re-edit this scene in a future sequel of Matt Reeves Batman live action film franchise! :D And I'm open-minded that Matt Reeves gives Barry Keoghan 's Joker a congenital disease as part of his origin story If The Joker in this brand new Batman live action film franchise directed by Matt Reeves has his own unique genetic disorder/disability/disfigurement, imagine if did could be done the same to future Batman archenemies and rogues such as Two-Face, Count Vertigo, Killer Croc, the Dr.Preston Payne version of Clayface, and Mr. Freeze for examples in future sequels! :D Would to love to hear your thoughts BobaTalks!* #YouAreSoMuchFun! ;D

Huge fan man! After watching it a few times now, Barry’s performance has grown on me. Though I think that the look is quite drastic in parts, my main take away is that he was quite calm in his approach when speaking and doesn’t need to go 100% psycho in a five minute clip. He lets the scene play out. I don’t get the hate he has been getting and I look forward if he is featured in future films.

This scene is great. Joker can go from acting like a clown to dissecting and understanding Riddler to annoying Batman and getting under his skin to basically being a master manipulator. Robert Pattinson and Barry Keoghan did such a great job with the back and forth conversation and those Joker prosthetics are incredible, he looks like the one from Arkham Asylum A Serious House on Serious Earth and he looks like a dude who fell into a vat of chemicals (Matt Reeves says he didn't, but that could be a play with the multiple choice origin of him having this "disease" since he was a child). Either way, Barry Keoghan has the potential to be one of if not the best live action Jokers of all time.

I’m really excited to see what Barry does with his version of The Joker. I think it’s sad how many people are hating on him so much, we haven’t really seen anything yet & yet people have been quick to judge. I think he’s a great actor & could bring something really interesting to the character especially since this is just the beginning, he’s still just “John Doe” just like all the other characters are still coming into their own. I’m looking forward to seeing the 2 of them interact in a movie together. Love your videos Boba!! Thank you for keeping us going with everything Batman!! I think it would be cool if the second movie is silence of the lambs-esc, where Batman asks the Joker for advice about not only the Riddler but also the second villain. The Joker escapes at the end and the the riddler and the main villain of second movie have paved the way and prepared Gotham for the Joker to take over. I also love your enthusiasm and I appreciate you being a realist in this universe as well as keeping the hype at just the right rate. Not too much, not too little. That being said, and this is just a personal thing, I think that this is designed to look a lot more like chemical burns, and I ironically believe he fell into a vat of chemicals and came out looking like this than I do him being born this way, but hey, that’s just the joker, he’s funny like that

I really really enjoy your breakdown of things. Specifically this and of "the Batman"....I might not be in a position to "critique" because this certainly isn't something I'm an expert on. However, I am a viewer/listener....and I want to pre tense the critique with....you are very thorough, knowledgeable on the subject, articulate, and your execution of your breakdowns are fantastic.....my only critique is on the length/execution of your breakdowns....is that you repeat yourself and information often. In what I would guess the motivation being to be very clear about what you are actually saying as well as painting a full picture of the subject you are talking about in that moment. So that your points come across loud and clear. however I believe the core audience listening/watching you don't need to constant repeating of information. It's just a thought from a new fan and subscriber. If you want me to be more specific. Send me a message and we can talk about it.....anywho, you have a new subscriber, listener, fan and supporter of what you are doing. Keep it up. I wish you nothing but the best and more success. Boba, great video as always my dude, please keep ‘em coming - can’t get enough of your Bat content‼️‼️ Just a random comment, not particularly pertaining to The Batman, but just the character in general - I loveddd the new movie and love Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson and what they did, I also love Affleck’s take (especially BvS) and still hold out hope we can get more of that version and/or story at some point on HBO Max etc etc - but I feel like in the midst of all of the new content, Christian Bale’s portrayal and Nolan’s trilogy have completely been disregarded or at best are a far far afterthought to Batman fans, and it absolutely drives me crazy. At a time when we DESPERATELY needed that character/franchise revived, those movies gave us top, top notch portrayals of Bruce and Batman and honestly just top notch movies as a whole. I know those are in the past but it’s crazy how quickly those rose to game and then crazier how fast they’re forgotten. Watching The Dark Knight Rises right now makes me reflect and only hope that we get a 2nd and ultimately third movie with Pattinson that are THIS GOOD in totality, and I’m confident we will, but I would love to hear your thoughts on how Nolan’s trilogy not only revived this character, but brought him from dead and buried, back into one of the coolest and most sought after franchises in cinematic history! With love as always bro

As a batman fan I've always said a joker is only as good as the batman and if they fit. Keaton's batman fits Nicholson's joker perfect and he plays the joker perfect but that joker wouldn't fit Bale or Affelcks batman. Same as Heath Ledger's joker fits bales batman perfect but wouldn't work with ketaon and Affleck. Only one that don't work is Letos joker that just don't work at all in any way for anyone. This joker fits this batman world perfect, it's a darker batman more true to the comics and this joker complements this batman perfect and I think it will be interesting see were it goes from here. Personally I think he will be teased more in the 2nd film and be the main bad guy in the 3rd to end the trilogy
@LP92LEO

Exactly, I had this debate with someone before. My point was each joker fits the theme of their respective movies. Jack Nicholson’s joker wouldn’t fit in with Christopher Nolan’s world, and vice versa with Heath Ledger and Tim Burton. The Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix focused a lot on mental health, problems with society and the effects this can have on a persons well being. They’re all great in their respect roles, except for Jared Leto I just didn’t get it at all, it didn’t work and I felt he tried too hard. The crazy tattoos and goat like laugh was ridiculously bad. Some might disagree but being a massive Joker fan I tend to not give him the title as “The Joker” as it was awful IMO

This scene and this Joker performance is a grower. I wasn't so sure at first, but upon rewatches I think you start to really become more and more fascinated by the Joker and what his backstory is with him and Batman. I don't love the laugh, but it's still early and I can imagine I will come around to it. I don't think it's a bad thing that I feel like it's unpleasant to listen to - which I think is kind of the point. Look at that mouth when he's laughing - that is a thing of nightmares. It's taken Ledgers look and feel and elevated it to an even more twisted, sinister level.

I just watched it for third time, this time woth my mom and sister but they kept talking about their opinions and nothing really concrete because it just prove the person hasn't gotten fully into the whole vibe and tone of the movie and not the why things happen the way it happen. That's what I love about you boba, you naturally have the separation of opinion and what was actually going on in the movie. really appreciate that fact. So I think that just giving an immediate opinion of first impressions holds back to making actual, intellectual, solid, real opinion on a movie.

Neglected, abused, poor, maybe not the best with women, bad relationship with mother or female family member or harsh abusive father. Killing of small animals. It’s literally all the basics of the serial killer flow chart 😂😂 I took it as him rubbing it in Batman’s face like “Cmon you know this shit” and led it into talking about Batman before pushing to far and him ending the conversation.

#youresomuchmorefun I was delighted we got this scene. I really loved the tension and mind games that Joker was playing. I understand why they cut it, but I think this would have elevated the ending cameo in the theatrical release that many people felt was unnecessary. Nonetheless, I am super excited to see Keoghan's portrayal in the coming years. Hopefully, he'll be a main character in the upcoming Arkham series.

There does seem to be a deliberate close p of the file as Batman pulls it back, the shot of the file doesn't seem necessary unless it is a close up to hint at something.

Regarding the entire congenital disease thing: From Reeves' quote we can asume that the permanent smile is from that. The scarring doesn't have to. It could be, as you said, self inflicted or a result of all the messed up stuff he presumably got into. The blisters on the hand for instance could be from some sort of chemical he sloppily used on (not yet?) corpses or burns or whatever. He doesn't appear to care much about his own safety.

I think that ace chemicals in Gotham city leaking chemicals into the water supply. As a baby joker had these deformities due to the chemicals in the water supply it made him F up! Also those chems causes a neurological disorder and skin disease which joker has been made fun of! In that case turned into the joker over time.. since Matt Reeves is going for all realistic approach of all the villains

I like to think he did take the paper clip, and will convince the riddler and then penguin after he gets put in Arkham too after his show. So while Batman is focused on whoever it is in his next film, there’s a team up behind the scenes so at the end of the second film when Batman takes the beaten villain himself to arckham , he gets locked in as all the villains escape their cells and that’s the set up for the 3rd movie, which is Batman fighting his way out of Arkham against all his villains so far , all lead by the joker

I still think something happened to him post birth which caused all those afflictions apart from the smile which is definitely congenital, there’s a picture in riddler’s apartment where Barry is smiling behind Bruce without the scars/burns/boils on his face, where he also has visible lips that aren’t in the shape they are in the scene

Yeah, I mentioned that picture on here but it got ignored.😂 It made me wonder if Joker spoke to Bruce rather than Batman before "the accident with chemicals" or whatever may or may not have occurred, you notice, I don't think Joker addresses him by name, either as Batman or Bruce, but that could just be me overthinking it.

I really like to imagine the Henry Cleridge type murders from the jokers first appearance. I think the so "so and so will be dead by x time only for their fate to already be sealed" works really well in this universe. Like maybe the joker got away with 2 or 3 murders before maybe batman caught him in the last one.

I really like this scene a lot. I love the dialogue with the Joker and the relationship already established. The jokers mannerisms are also perfect. I am excited to see this joker more in the Arkham series and hopefully as a main villain in the 3rd film.

Yoo BoBa!!! Love the channel bro, you're an extremely underrated journalist. I got a theory that's a little left field, but hear me out. What if the Joker's "burns" are Batman's fault. We've seen ( and heard from Robert Paterson) that this Batman struggles with the infamous "line." For instance, when they interacted something went wrong, and maybe pushed him, or let him fall into whatever caused his scars, burns etc. So this interaction we are seeing are a way of Batman showing remorse? 🤷🏾‍♂️. Batman wants to ensure he catches Riddler the smart way, rather than the brute way. That's why Joker turned the conversation on Batman. Maybe he seen him pushed to the limit, so he's trying to get him there again. Idk...Just a thought, lmk what u think. Keep up the dope content, 200k subs are next, LETS GOOOOOO!!!!🤙🏾🤙🏾

Great breakdown Boba. I honestly don't see a❓️. I just see a scar. I love the idea that he was born with a congenital disease and that due to his reactions to this he's self inflicted some of his wounds. It's brilliantly written and both of them are great in this scene. I'd love to see more of Barry's Joker- whether it's on the Arkham show or another movie. I can also understand why it was left out. It would've taken away from the Riddler focus and certain elements of surprise to story development. #You'reSoMuchMoreFun

Interesting point about the congenital disease so I did some research. There are about 60 congenital diseases that affect both the skin and the brain, called neuro cutaneous diseases. I looked into tuberous sclerosis and it seems to fit. It can cause tumors anywhere on the body, explaining the lumps, often causes legions on the face, which explains his mouth, and frequently affects the central nervous system, which could explain his psychosis. Just a theory, but it fits pretty well

@cracklingvoice

The one thing that bothers me is a misunderstanding that I'm chalking up to a subtitling error. When Joker is looking through the file, he says 'his violence is so baroque'. People keep hearing it as 'broke'. This Joker has some style, even if not yet at full form. He's appreciating the way that Riddler is killing people, the style behind his methods. Killing a corrupt cop with rats is far more stylized than by simpler means. A bullet would have still killed the commissioner, but his corruption and the meaning of 'rat' in the lexicon of law enforcement ... it verges on the poetic (in the most fucked-up of poetic sensibilities). From britannica: Some of the qualities most frequently associated with the Baroque are grandeur, sensuous richness, drama, dynamism, movement, tension, emotional exuberance, and a tendency to blur distinctions. This Joker knows artistic styles, and recognizes them immediately. He's an intelligent person with an appreciation for style, and studied the various styles to find his own. He sees the work of another man with style and enjoys it, even though it's clearly not a style that he works in.

That’s a possibility. Idk if I want him to get a more “normal” look. Cuz this version of the Joker would be absolutely terrifying looking. My only question would be: how would a Joker this deformed ever get with Harley Quinn? I seriously doubt we’ll see her in future movies, but I’m just wondering out loud. Unless he gets surgery later. If I’m not mistaken, they teased Hush in the Batman. So…would Hush aka Thomas Elliot be able to surgically fix his face? I’m goin down the rabbit hole here lol

#YouAreSoMuchMoreFun hey Boba! Me again, as always love your stuff! Don’t know if this is just a rumor, but I’ve been hearing that WB has had discussions about doing a three jokers storyline for film w/ the three actors playing Joker. (Jared Leto, Joaquin Phoenix, Barry Keoghan) personally I love Barry’s joker just because he doesn’t feel like any one of the three jokers: the clown, the comedian or the criminal and feels more like Scott Snyder‘s joker from the new 52 Who you can never get a handle on and knows how to get in your head. But of the three I feel like Berry’s would probably be closest to the clown. Was wondering what you thought?

Perhaps this joker had some thematic kills as well to build on what you said about the reason bats visits him for his perspective, one think coming to mind is, if true about his smile origins and the suffering that he would’ve endured, I thinks kills with a theme of maiming the victims faces, like carving them with a Glasgow grin for instance, could be why he’s at this point perceived as a serial killer. He got caught before really seeing the extent of his psychotic unpredictable mass murdering nature, like you said perhaps he was himself still looking for an identity in that manner. Either way from what I see, I love the direction reeves and keoghan are or have taken with this character. It’s hard to create a joker without overshadowing other villains. This Hannibal lecter approach is a great choice, perhaps in the third movie he manages to escape and instead of being the agent of chaos and mass murderer himself, he manipulates several of bats’ rogues gallery into doing his bidding for him. Seeing as how quick he got into Riddlers head, I won’t be surprised if he’s capable of turning people against Batman while he himself remains in the shadows to ultimately face off against bats.
