The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

1:21 idk how to explain why and how much i love this shot. it's the way brian's eyes wander around, the silly humble smile he has while he sings. his stance, his expressions, just everything about him is so bright and pure it's extremely endearing and beautiful. i'm not a big fan of the beach boys even tho i like their music, i just watched love&mercy and ended up here, so please excuse me if i'm being unfair to the other members. but i can visibly see the difference between him and the others. the other members seem to just enjoy and play the music while brian is mesmerised in the notes. i wish i could see what happens in his mind. he's one of a kind fr. so inspiring.

@@musicofanatic - Rather ironic username, musico. Love wrote the lyrics to many Beach Boys songs. His singing voice is decent; an integral part of the group's harmonizing. His politics? Other than his support for the president, who he claims to be a personal friend, what? I'm not saying Mike has no faults. While Murry Wilson was managing the band, Mike was constantly after Brian over his lack of writer's credits for the lyrics he wrote. He should have went directly to Murry with his beefs. He's also an admitted procrastinator. Puts things off to the last minute. And his HOF rand was ill advised. But "detest" him? There is too much hate in the world. If anything, Mike deserves credit for staying with, and touring with the band, keeping the Beach Boys going as a great touring band doing the group's classic music.
@musicofanatic
@musicofanatic 3 жыл бұрын
@@scootergeorge9576 No irony at all; I am fanatical about music and always have been. Whilst I initially had a more open mind about supporters of the current administration, eventually I came to hold any supporters as being personally responsible for its existence, thus any supporters held in the same disdain and contempt as I hold the current administration. Additionally, Love's stage presence always seemed out of line with the positive vibes given off by the other band members; like he was uncomfortable in his skin, and trying too hard to appear "cool". His public persona is one of a malcontent and a confrontationalist. What a putz!
@scootergeorge9576
@scootergeorge9576 3 жыл бұрын
@@musicofanatic - In other words, you have nothing. Only connection I've seen with Love and Trump is they are friends. Love said they get along. No mention of politics. And politics has nothing to do with musical talent. Love is stiff on stage and can't dance. He allegedly has an oversize ego. Now if those are grounds to "despise" the man, you just may be a hater. And malcontent? I don't see it. Only real evidence of that is his HOF tirade. But actually, he was trying to make a good point. Bands need to do more for charity. Bad timing and style following the tragic death of Dennis Wilson. I don't hate on Mike Love. Read his book, "Good Vibrations..." I took positives and negatives from it. There was honesty and baloney, in my opinion. For example, he has high praise for Brian, who he considers a genius. Says his HOF thing was because he couldn't meditate that day! Can't stop you from what you believe but isn't there too much hate in the world? PS - I voted Libertarian again because while I support the President, I'm not voting for him. Biden either. But if Joe is elected, I will support him. I'm a vet who still views the president as Commander in Chief. Call it a personality flaw. ; )

Like "Friday on my Mind", "Strawberry Fields" and "Summer in the City", it's so unique it can't be compared to anything that came before and sure as hell didn't produce any spin-offs. :10 only time I've heard Brian's voice crack from chest voice up into falsetto with a yodel. Every other time it's a smooth transition and you can't even tell when he flips into falsetto.

AMAZING!!! WOW! A live (not lip synced) performance on a TV show in the '60s. So rare and so awesome! Beach Boys - what a group!
