Because of Return by Death it certainly makes their relationship like no other haha. I find it very interesting how there is a knowledge gap between the two. Like we know that Subaru no longer sees Emilia as an object but an actual person, but does he still think about those initial failed loops (specifically the first one) and how that affects his view of the current Emilia. But yeah I agree with everything you said, I can't wait for when they hopefully get together and have a happy ending (please Tappei) as I'm sure it'll be very satisfying

Thinking he owes a lot to her,and that's her justification that he loves him Like how could you love some because you owe someone something. Sure you could adore,be thankful,or be impactful,and you can care for the person and love the fact that he/she did that for you. But you can only love a person,when you genuinely get to know together,have a deep connection, understanding,or know the person whoever he is or genuinely love the person for whoever he is Like if you love a person because the person is confident, unafraid, strong all the time. But then again all you are loving is that image version. Will you be able or willing to care and comfort the person should the person be crying,broken,sad,afraid or atleast be there for the person when he/she is at his/her lowest point? That was Subaru's obsession which later turned into genuine love later on That's how Subaru's obsession turned into love

I think little is a bit of an understatement haha. Subaru was pretty desperate to look good in front of Emilia, that's why he hated Julius and dueled him. But yeah thankfully Subaru understood that he was acting pretty toxic and has changed for the better. He truly earned Emilia's trust by the end of Arc 4 and as you said he is ideally the person Emilia has been waiting for.

@@Jamillian8 It was a typo, I meant Rescue Romance with an "S." If you still don't get it, sometimes A falls in love with B if B saves A. This is more likely in both fiction and in real life if B is young and physically attractive. If one edits Re Zero to only count the true timeline, this obviously doesn't count as one because Emilia did not fall in love with Subaru at the loot house. On the other hand Subaru fell in love with Emila at first sight, and this first sight was not in Episode 2 or 3.

@ANW Well, everything I read called a rescue romance one where the rescuee falls in love with the rescuer _at the time_ of the event, not that it defines the attraction. Subaru was pretty infatuated with her since Arc 1. So the fact that Subaru is seeing her more than just a savior at this point might change his actions but not on if this counts as a rescue romance or not. or at least according to the classic definition. I guess if enough people use a word or phrase in a more narrowly defined way, it becomes the new definition after enough time, but I was taking about classic version when I asked the question. In the true timeline, Subaru saved Emilia's neck when he called Puck to shield her, but from his perspective he was in love at first sight, and this was not their first meeting. But does the deleted loop count if it never happened?

@Ambridge Emilia almost confessed in arc 6 chapter 54. The only problem is Emilia doesn't fully understand her feelings but being separated from Subaru for several weeks will probably help her realise how much she loves him. Part of Subaru's character development in arc 7 is overcoming his fear of abandonment. I'm 99% certain Emilia will confess and help Subaru learn to love himself just like he did in reason to believe.

But Emilia DID take the time to try and understand Subaru, Subaru just has TERRIBLE communication skills. Emilia was first person to ask him about Rem during failed loop of Arc 2 when she was dead, and believed in him. Emilia even after all that bullshit in royal selection, first thing Emilia did was tell him, they need to have a talk and wanted to understand why hes doing those things. Subaru did not explain, the simple fact is, all Subaru had to tell Emilia is reason he doing those things is because he loves her, then she would ask why you love me. Then he would explain all the things he said in reason to believe. Then she would question how can you love someone like me, half-elf etc. Then he would say because I dont care about those things, and I dont believe in what they say. The communication just wasn't there, Emilia was not just self absorbed in her problems, all her life she was hated, pitied on, not looked at normal person etc. Your missing the part that Subaru has literally ADMITTED that he was self absorbed in his own ego self of wanting to do things for her, he forgot what was actually important. That was to tell her the reason he doing those things for her.

@@peppermint3808 I think what you meant 'TRIED to explain it'. Subaru tried to explain yet Satella, prevented him causing him the equalivant of a heart attack. And here is my problem with Emilia she kept pushing Subaru despite him looking like someone who has a panic attack or a heart stroke instead of pausing the conversation check on him and letting him calm then resume. And his last straw was Emilia saying she will leave while still in pain from the taboo. Which makes him: 1) Snap due to his past experiences with RBD.After all if the person who you thought understood your suffering was but a mere delusion can you shoulder the pain of that isolation? 2) Wanting to keep Emilia by his side due to this being an abandonment in his eyes.Reminding him of the earth friends that 'abandoned' him. So he used his suffering (basically trying to guilt trip her) as a levarge which backfired terribly.

Yeah Subaru and Rem's relationship is nice, but it's pretty unhealthy on Rem's side. She's got a lot more issues to overcome compared to Emilia, not to mention Emilia does have loving detachment with Subaru already, while Rem doesn't. I don't think Subaru would cheat on Rem because some girl was nice to him too though haha. But yeah I agree that the ship war is kinda stupid
