Millets were staple in indian diet for centuries but since last few decades Indians ditched them for wheat and rice, which explains the rise of heart disease, diabetes and other diseases! still in some parts of India who still eat many kinds of millets are healthier and are have less prone to diseases of so called modern world! So proud of the indian researchers cited by Dr. Greger here,who are working to bring millets back to their glory!!

Your teaching methods give me a growing smile while I'm learning. Gotta love you doctor. Thank you & God bless you.💕

Its the best type of millet to clean you digestive track and this is also know to have the highest fiber out of all the millets. Just one caution ⚠️ though soak them for 6-8 hrs before cooking. Otherwise it will cause some heating effect on your body. To avoid this problem we need to soak them before cooking. This process is required for the following millets browntop, foxtail, little, barnyard and kodo millet.

Why did millets make Healtline's list of flours to avoid for diabetics? It is so confusing when the research isn't supporting the claims. I was lead to believe that adding millets to my bread making was better for me in my fight against type 2.

I dont see how it is good thing to get a heavier and digestion processes that last longer time, will take you energy, eat a meal of fresh ripe fruit full of simple sugar, will digest much easier and quicker.

An unsustainable lifestyle for most.
@chiyerano
@chiyerano 3 жыл бұрын
Faster emptying times of the stomach and digestion usually mean quick release of energy which comes out as quick bursts of energy that don't last long and before long a person is hungry and tired again because their energy is rapidly used up. The person then ends up needing to eat something again a short time later. If you're ok with constantly being hungry and needing to eat more than 3 meals and snacks daily then by all means stick to foods that digest and empty out of the stomach quickly. But if you would rather have just one or two meals a day with very little snacking and still feel satiated and without feeling hungry throughout the day so that you can do more things with your time without needing to eat all the time then foods like millet are foods you definitely want to be eating.
@Kristers_K
@Kristers_K 3 жыл бұрын
@@chiyerano Precisely how i feel at times when eating only fruit, you fill up for 20 minutes and then you're hungry again, all the time, where as you can eat a meal of mashed potatoes and legumes and be a powerhouse for nearly a day. These ''frugivores'' just want to promote the monkey diet, monkeys which spend the entire day eating.
@Julottt
@Julottt 3 жыл бұрын
@@chiyerano Completely wrong since our fuel mainly comes from glycogen store and liver work releasing glucose/fructose on the long term, our glycogen store last for around 24h, i'm eating 2 meals a day, i'm not quickly hungry after big meal of fruit(not just 3 bananas...) and eating 2 meal a day , sometimes 3. We cant improve on nature, our anatomy is frugivore as a great primate with a closest relative bonobo and mainly made for sweet foods containing simple carbs which hit the most sensible taste in our mouth, sweet taste.
@Julottt
@Julottt 3 жыл бұрын
@@Kristers_K I didnt say to only eat fruits or only raw tho especially if not in the tropics which give an abundance of epic ripe fresh fruits year round, was just explaining the difference with simple carbs digesting much faster and easier.
