First, let me thank you for your review. You do a fantastic job! I'm just getting started. Funny how I started looking into 360 cameras: We RV/camp a lot and noticed only some of the roads on our state parks have Google Street View. I learned that I can upload my own 360 videos and have it published. I know some may think this is an odd requirement/use for a 360 camera. However, it is important for us as we travel quite a bit and it is important to review our campsites and go back for reference. We will, of course, use this camera for our vacation filming: canoeing/hiking/biking, etc.. Thought?

Looks like the 'App' tends to suffer in the reviews, hopefully in the future this will be resolved and the 'App' will compliment each camera - we will see! Thank you for sharing. GoPro is really amazing. It could even be taken into the water! Besides, have you heard of Qoocam DNG8 mode. It is recommended by my friend, saying that the quality of the original images could be improved a lot with this function.

Nomad 24 My Fusion has the best quality between that and the Rylo. From what I’ve seen even the 360 X. I am still waiting on mine to arrive. My Rylo has made some fantastic overcapture videos and the app is simple yet intuitive and always works! My Fusion (as long as the app is working) can make some of the best overcapture videos. Period. When it decides not to work, pull your hair out and try NOT TO THROW IT OUT OF A WINDOW. In short I LOVE my Fusion for the quality of videos it can produce. My Rylo for ease of use (still need to update it. Waiting on Rylo to send a replacement. I shattered my glass on it while hiking) and once I get the X, it should be the love child of the Fusion and Rylo lol.

Great review, super useful, thanks. I’ll be using a 360 camera mainly for recording video footage of people eating a meal (the camera sitting in the middle of the table, lowish lighting conditions). It is for research purposes (seeing how participants interact). I’m on a budget and the less video editing I need to do the better. Which camera would you recommend me to buy? Thanks.

Very good 360 cameras comparison, thanks a lot. I'm surprised that nobody talks about audio quality in the 360 cameras reviews : I know most of the people use it as action cams or for virtual tours but 360 is also great for capturing live events, music and sound atmospheres. Ricoh Theta V is also the only camera with plugins to extend functionalities at this time. You're right about the YI 360 : it's not an action cam, and I broke the 1/4 inch tripod screw yesterday so I'm very disapointed :(

Totally agree, performing live the 360 overcapture principle is fantastic and something I'm using more and more, giving me direct control to record my duo act without needing to rely on others, and all right in front of us. The audio quality is the only thing holding me back from upgrading to the Insta360 One X from my £90 Samsung Gear 360 2017, the Fusion is too far out of my reach with its workflow and space needs. Hats off to Daniel for being a fellow Brit (London based too?) leading the way with 360 tech.

Very informative! If a 360 camera isn't too great with stabilization, can stabilization be done in something like Final Cut Pro instead? Would that produce adequate stabilization?

Hi I’m looking for a 360 to use while out cycling. I mainly want it in case of an accident so I need something that will record for 2 hours or more. I know I cloud get extra batteries for some cameras but then I have to stop and change and I really don’t want that hassle. Is there anything out there that will do 2+ hours of recording.

Once you try Vuze 3D 360 on VR headset, all other formats are history. And, it is not expensive, B&H in NY sells it for 499$...

Looking at the Insta 360 One X : it's the work flow that has me at bay about buying one of these. what i want to do.. is minimal editing.. like you maybe bump up the Saturation a wee bit. can i just upload to facebook or youtube and let the viewer pan around as they want.. or do i still need to Manipulate it before uploading. and please allow anyone to answer this question.. need to buy something in the next 2 weeks as im going on vacation I've also been looking at the hero 7, never had a gopro either.

Great review, just a quick Info , I just got my insta360 one x last week after checking your review and the others as well , such an amazing camera but had a great disappointment , I’m a snowboarder from dubai ( I know it’s funny ) I’m on my snowboard vacation now in Bosnia , the temperature is -7 C , it was working perfectly in dubai , but when I took it to the mountain with cold temperature it’s not working !!!!! Fully charged, take it out to shoot some snowboarding and after 2 mins ( empty battery) !!!! Fully charger again and tried it inside the hotel room it’s recoding 25 to 30 mins with 5k , took it back again to the slops baaaam battery empty ) I contacted the service and so far no action taken !!!!! Please review it on cold temperature

What I’m really wondering, is all this 4 k 5.7 k etc. Surely all this would look very clear? Am watching this with an iPad Pro. Thanks for this comparison video. It’s either this or I’ve become a picture Quality snob. Because 1080p seems to be the best picture, so how is that possible or do we need 4 k compatible monitors and screens to view the footage?

Hi Daniel, your videos are great and I thank you for them. I have two questions that I would love if you could help with. 1) what's the best/easiest way to embed these videos on a website? Does KZfaq host them and allow the normal embed facilities? 2) I want to try hanging one from a drone and was wondering what one you'd say was best in terms of quality and stability? Maybe you've tried this?

The Garmin VIRB 360, being waterproof, is a true action camera, unlike the others. Except for the price it's my choice.

Thank! For a drone you'll want a light camera with good stabilization, so the Rylo or One X may be good. Perhaps even the GoPro Fusion but it's a bit heavier.

5g wifi are for using 5.4 ghz wifi signal instead of using 2.4ghz signal its not the same thing with 5g mobile signal

Thanks for the video. Think I’m now torn between the insta oneX and the go-pro fusion. I’ve never owned an action camera before (so am a real beginner). The reason for getting a camera is that I’m going to the Nürburgring with my car and want to capture the laps and the epic road trip out to the ring. I want something simple to use and edit (I do have a powerful iMac but would like to do as much editing as possible on my iPhone XSmax). I suppose my main questions are: 1. which is easiest to edit on app 2. Which has the most storage (so I don’t need loads of SD cards to capture the whole trip 3. Which one has the best battery life 4. Can they be operated plugged into a 12v charger in the car

I am not an expert. I do own the fusion, but not the one x. I know that the one x doesn’t have the best battery life. Also the fusion is cheaper and comes with a very good mount. I found the app fairly easy to use and you seem to have a fast phone, but the downloading speeds are VERY SLOW on the fusion. One last thing: the fusion can handle 2 256gb (yes, it needs 2 sd cards). The one x only needs one 128gb sd cards. Make sure you get a fast sd card

Drewskii. BTW thanks for the reply. The battery life shouldn’t be an issue as it’ll be in the car with a power source connected..... the 2x 256 cards sounds like a plan for more storage..... but the compression on the one x would means better use of the smaller as card space..... 🤷🏼‍♂️

djdannyb100 yes, you are correct. FYI, you don’t need 256gb cards, in fact I use 64gb cards. It just can handle up to 2 256gb cards

The Rylo sounds the best for video with the better app, and the Jzami/ Jami????? Chinese one sounds best for photos....do people usually buy two one for each? re Insta One X h as a long editing app is not good and also the insta one x you said is bad on lighting

Feedback for improvements; You should put the name of the device you are reviewing in the corner durring the entire talk of that device. Maybe also the retail price when it was launched as well as launch date. That would make it a lot easier for your viewers when scrolling through your video.

My impression is that none of these cameras are actually 360 degrees. Am I wrong? If they were 360, we would see the photographer in each view unless he's holding the camera up on a stick above his head. I was looking for something to use for security in my car. It needs to shoot the full circle and preferably have at least two separately adjustable lenses front and rear, because light conditions in front and behind can be different.
