This is my video of the BlackBerry phone you should buy in 2020. If you still want a BlackBerry today, the options are limited, but... the BlackBerry Mobile KEY2 LE exists and you can still find them brand new for a reasonable price - and it comes in three different colors! The BlackBerry KEY2 LE is a great improvement in performance over the KEYone, and a great alternative to the more expensive KEY2 - but it's missing the touch sensitive keyboard. However, it's still a great phone and it's still getting security updates in 2020!

Really good review! You make some excellent points about the "usability" of this model for today's budget minded market. I am convinced there still are enough long time BlackBerry users who want that pkb experience. Your videos are a motivation to that end. BTW I can't give up my Red KEY2! My collection is up to 8 Blackberries, 5 being BB10.

Wonderful channel for us BlackBerry lovers, thank you. I've had my Keyone for a couple years without issues until a couple weeks ago when it started to lag on most anything I tried to do with it. Restarting it helped but only temporarily and was an issue for a few days. The past week it had been ok till last night when it would do nothing but blink the red LED. So this morning I researched videos and ended up pulling the battery and now it appears to be perfectly fine again. But it has me looking for a replacement, which led me to your channel. At first I saw your video about the demise of BlackBerry moving forward earlier this year and had me considering a Note 10 Lite, but then I quickly saw your interview with the company that's continuing these awesome phones and thus renewed my search for a Key2. But I'm wondering if I should hang on to my Keyone till next summer when the new phone debuts, or will it even last that long considering my recent issues? Prices on Amazon and Ebay look to be real good right now for either the Key2 or the LE model.

Great comments man :) and I admire your commitment to the Blackberry brand. I agree with you 100% that this is the best value for money. The Key2 was always overpriced and this is something we all know I think. My current phone that I LOVE. Is my Key2 dual sim 128GB model. I have both my sim cards in it and I love it! But this is for sure a good option. I tried my Priv again the other day and DAMN I want to still love that phone. But it is just a bit to slow for the modern demands. On a side note my Blackberry Keyone for me feels as close to the old "Blackberry Feeling" that you can get. I have the Black Edition which looks pretty coll and has a bit more power.

I bought this phone in November 2018 and was hoping to upgrade it in 2020, but since there isn't a new version I've been using it for 2.5 years now and after I deleted a lot of old stuff from WhatsApp that automatically gets saved on the phone that no one needs, it's running perfectly fine again. Can definitely recommend it. I do have a screen protector and a cover for it and I must say I've never dropped any phone as much as this one, but with the cover and screen protector it's been fine.

@@TechOdyssey when swipe feature was added first with the Passport, I felt in love and made a show off to my friends. I understand not everyone share the same feeling. Still, the Key2 LE is a great bang for a buck. I've been using a Google Pixel 3a since my PRIV was bumming me out after a couple of years and man, I really miss the BB experience even if it is the Android version. The Key 2 LE is tempting me but the only BB I've used with a physical keyboard was my Pearl 8130 which was my first smart phone and first BlackBerry that I owned. Of course the PRIV has the slide out keyboard but I never used it. I tried it a few times and I just found it cumbersome instead of just typing on the screen like I did with my Storm and my Storm 2 and my, I think it was a 9550 which was a great phone and then my beloved and favorite BlackBerry, the Z10. I prefer the full screen Blackberry.

Hi mate, thx for this update on the LE. Considering that the touch sensitive keyboard has been very laggy on both the KeyOne and Key2 (comparing to the Passport, where it works just fine), this Key2LE finally looks not so bad and as you say this feature is not worth the price asked. Is the camera worse than the one on the KeyOne? You would go for an LE rather than a KeyOne Black/Bronze Edition then?
@TechOdyssey
@TechOdyssey 4 жыл бұрын
Certain aspects of the KEYone camera are better but the performance trade off is better for the LE, versus the KEYone. I like the KEYone and it has a lot to offer and if you get the black edition it should do you ok for a while. It is no longer getting security updates apparently but thankfully the KEY2 and LE did - how much longer I don't know. I think the LE has less performance compromises, has a better typing experience and a tighter keyboard and the fingerprint sensor is more accurate and responsive. Overall think the LE is a better but, even though the camera is a step behind the KEYone... But the LE isn't terrible. I included samples in the video. So... If it were my choice today I would likely go with the LE.

How much of your screen are you able to use when the virtual keyboard is covering the screen? People that value the keyboard usually tend to do a lot of typing and appreciate the benefit of the physical keyboard for accuracy and multitasking. The screen is still plenty good enough and the keyboard adds levels of interaction for shortcuts, etc... plus it’s been touch sensitive in the last few flagships so it allows you to scroll the screen and more.

That really depends on the person that wants to use it. In very limited case scenarios if someone enjoys the phone and only uses it for basically phone calls, texting, and emails? Sure... especially if you carry two phones. But I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone these days who isn't already using one still.

By the time you have them send a "loaner", then wait to get it returned only to take the chance it's not covered, NO I didn't get it fixed under warranty. I use the symbol key to get the space bar. As soon as I get a chance I will get a different phone. I've had BlackBerry phones for the past 15 years and I think I have had enough.

Key 2 or key2 le your opinion plzzz
@TechOdyssey
@TechOdyssey 4 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you're looking for and what price. If you want to pay the extra money then the KEY2 is definitely worth it. It's a great phone. Better cameras, more power, more future proof, touch sensitive keyboard. The whole 9 yards. If you don't care about those things and just want a brass tacks blackberry experience that's nice and enjoyable and works fine, save some money and go with the LE

TechOdyssey im talking in terms of value. Basically youre paying $450 for old outdated hardware with probably no future updates only to use a keyboard is my point. This phone came out a long time ago. The price should be around $200-$300 max given its age and outdated specs.
