The Best Cure for Major Depression Is a Single Mystical Experience // Today, I’m going to let you in on one of the most vulnerable experiences of my life: the story of how I hit rock bottom and was saved by a spontaneous mystical experience. It is because I’ve had this experience that I’m able to vouch so fervently for psychedelic therapy for mental health treatment.
While my mystical experience happened completely by chance, its mental health implications are huge. Following my story, I’ll be sharing with you some landmark research on psychedelic-induced mystical experiences. This research forms the basis for a radical new approach to depression treatment.
0:00 - Intro
2:15 - STORY TIME: How a Mystical Experience Saved My Life (*TRIGGER WARNING*)
8:19 - Message to anyone struggling today
9:02 - A New Approach to Mental Health Treatment
9:54 - The effects of psilocybin in cancer patients (landmark study on depression treatment)
10:49 - What is a mystical experience? (empirical definition)
11:53 - Why ALL mystical experiences are “biologically normal” (naturally-occurring vs psychedelic-induced)
13:07 - Why psilocybin therapy is our best cure for major depression

I once had an experience while reading Siddhartha. When I came got to the part where he becomes enlightened. I felt this feeling of euphoria. I can’t explain how amazing it was but it felt like I had found a piece to life that was missing and the oneness of everything. It was also during a time in my life that I had hit rock bottom and I should mention. It was a book that I found in a closet, packed up in a box at my high school.

People are capable of hallucinations even when not mentally ill or high. The best cure for depression is fixing dopamine regulation, there is a misconception that seratonin is only responsible for depression but this is not true, it's why anti depressants have very little effect long term. So glad you found something that worked for you. Churchill described his depression as a black cloud that existed always ready to come in.

I had been suffering from depression for most of my adulthood. I was first diagnosed with depression 13 years ago when I was 22. I had been in and out of the funk since then. I have been in therapy, consulted psychics, hypnotists, spiritual teachers, and been on many different antidepressants. I haven’t had a mystical experience yet even though I was born into a Christian family. I lost my job this year after having to taking many months off work due to mental health disability. I ordered a magic mushroom grow kit after watching this channel. Holding on to even just a little bit of hope keeps me from falling off the edge.

@@jcbanbury I microdosed for about 2 months. It's helped with the depression, but not the anxiety. I took a break to try Prozac, but the side effects from that are unpleasant. I want to go back on mushrooms since I didn't have any negative side effects besides being anxious and obsessive. For me, depression is much worse than anxiety, so the mushrooms at least help me get out of bed.

I had an extremely traumatic childhood. I lived with depression for most of my life. I did MDMA assisted therapy and it saved my life. Even now as i am writing this, i am getting emotional over the event and it happened last year. It was the most beautiful experience of my life. Since doing my first MDMA session, I have done 2 psilocybin sessions, the first of the sessions resulted in an ego death. Both MDMA and psilocybin are single handedly the most beautiful and important experiences of my life

Well, technically, as I'm sure you know, it is illegal in most countries. However, there are some counties that have a lenience to it. I did mine in another country, under supervision. I would not recommend you buy and MDMA off of the street because many times, it is not real MDMA. It is Molly or ecstasy which may have a small amount of MDMA in them but are often times laced with other harder drugs. If I was you, I would look into witch countries are more about this form of therapy. Hint, the Scandinavian countries are a good place to start!

I had been seeing a psychiatrist for 4 years when my uncle Charlie, who was a spiritual master, sent one of his teachers to instruct me in meditation. I had a profound experience the first time, and within 6 months my psychiatrist asked me what I had been doing those last months. He said I’d made almost no progress for 4 years, and within the previous months I’d changed dramatically, and that I didn’t need to see him anymore. That I was basically cured. 🤔😊

Wow!.... I'm really feeling good about the way you're directing this powerful tool. Love, patience, research, honesty and courage from every approach. My two cents for those who may be experiencing anxiety over taking on a large dose: There are substantial gains to micro, mini, and moderate dosing. How do I know? Because less than 90 days into a micro/mini/moderate regime I have experienced more calmness, an authentic sense of well being, and significantly less abuse from the committee in my head. Nothing wrong with starting out slowly and at your own pace. But do start. Start with research and go from there. A huge shout out to JK for making this happen!

Thanks for being so open about your experience with having been admitted during some dark times at such a sensitive age. I'll share with you (and your viewers who read the comments) that I too had a brief hospitalization during a trauma shock during transitional times...was shortly after highschool and my I was probably overworking myself and partying too much and didn't pay much mind (or tuned out things in my life regarding family because I was probably numb). My mom situation with her own addictions led to job loss and ultimately becoming homeless. Realizing this and trying to be the hero led me to getting burned. I still love her, but there I somethings that I have learned (and still learning) to accept. During that crisis, I did have what may've been considered mystical experiences...to this day I don't have an explanation other than being overwhelmed to the point where my brain just filled in the gaps with things that mad things even more difficult and confusing. Specifics probably aren't important, but there were definite hallucinations (without any substance) and seemingly one instance of (something without any real symbolism) a document with someone else's handwriting that I can swear I destroyed re materialize. I know.. sounds crazy. I didn't have a super strong follow up when I myself was briefly admitted for trauma shock and had a really difficult time rebuilding myself. Was scary but I did eventually get to a point in my life where things are manageable and have made some breakthroughs and achievements that I never thought possible. I'm liking the person I've grown into! See you on your next one! Take good care! And other peeps, feel free to speculate on what you think is the mechanism of action that could trigger a hallucination and also inconsistent memories in a situation with a traumatic event. Again, I assure you that it wasn't from any substance.

My experience is that just before you pass to a higher level in your life, just before thing start to change in your mind, surroundings and life in general, you tend to be tested with something scary derailing you totally from your comfort zone and you have to go through this with as much courage as you can. It almost feels as if you have to earn that next level in your life. I do believe in a mystical realm we as humans cannot access at will, but there is a hidden compass somewhere deep inside of us willing to guide us if we only accept to shut out the background noise and listen to it. I really believe that you were guided towards that book, that it was the book you needed to be able to shut down the background noises and to be able to access that powerful inner voice that we immediately tend to fully trust as it resonates as the truth and only the truth.

I just had an experience of that type a couple of days ago when I was meditating after smoking some weed. I felt/saw a powerful, very welcoming presence and I remember it revealing some deep truths about life to me, I don't recall any details tho, afterwards it was like waking from a dream, as soon as my ego had kicked back in the scenery collapsed and almost immediately most memories of it were gone. But it really left me with a feeling of peace, joy, awe and like everything was going to be okay in the end. I can see why these kind of experiences can change people's lifes. It surely felt like meeting God and I'm not even a religious person, I just only discovered my spirituality a couple of weeks ago. I mean, sure you can argue that it's just some hallucination the brain produces in a pre-sleep half awake, half sleeping (or drug induced) kind of state. But even if it's not "real" in a sense of 'There actually is a spirit world and I just had contact with the it', it FELT real, and even if it was just my brain hallucinating, then wow am I, is everybody actually, capable of some fucking cool and self-healing stuff..

i suffered my whole life from depression just like you being in hell. hit the bottom. then was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, feeling deep darkness within me then something bad happened to me which made that darkness even darker. then what happened was I went to the forest I was listening to some podcast about psychology and then it started talking about god and I have heard these things before a lot but it suddenly clicked. I had become an atheist for around 10 years. I cried a lot in the forest, I don't know what it was but I woke up that day with deep darkness returned from the forest with intense happiness and joy. It was my first time experiencing such a thing it was unconditional happiness, I felt like the colors were alive and they have pulse and that darkness is gone. I still struggle a lot but it is no longer as intense as it was before.

In the 50's and 60's he wanted to use LSD to help alcoholics but the rest of the AA board members had sticks up their butts and put a stop to that. AA is a miracle and saved many lives - including mine. But so many of us don't make it and need more help. Psychedelic therapy is the future. Thank you so much for your videos. 🙏❤

I grew up in a very religious household so doing anything, weed, lsd, etc was a hard no. My ex introduced me to weed and lsd, he would do it independently and I wouldn’t participate for some time till I decided to give it a go. Give her time, tbh I understand her way of seeing, be patient!

I've watched several of your videos describing your experiences with microdosing for depression. This video says your mystical experience in the psych. ward cured your depression. My question is ; why did you feel the need to try microdosing and macrodosing if the mystic experience ended your depression? Can we assume that the depression came back?

A Tibetan monk walks up to a hot dog vendor and says, “Make me one with everything.” The hot dog vendor hands over the sausage and bun with all the trimmings, and the monk hands over a twenty. The vendor pockets it. The monk asks, “Where’s my change?” and the vendor replies, “Change must come from within.” A gun then extends from the monk’s chest and he asks again. The vendor says, “Whoa, man, where did that come from?” The Tibetan monk replies, “This is my inner piece.”

Hello! I have a question. I am Deaf. Do you have any suggestions/tips/advice for someone who is Deaf that is thinking of trying microdosing this? I know you haven't experienced being Deaf, but I cannot find any videos for Deaf people who do this. I subscribed to your videos and I enjoyed learning a lot. Thank. you!

Thank you Julianne, quite enlightening report! So, what would a "high dose" amount to? Do those studies mention it in grams? I think they inject the synthesized psilocybin and measure it in ml? I'm using small microdoses (o.4 grams)...I do feel a little hangover next day.
@JulianneKeu
@JulianneKeu 3 жыл бұрын
Mmm it's generally a 1-100 ratio in terms of pure psilocybin to dry magic mushrooms (in weight). 0.4 grams is quite big for a microdose.. I recommend starting at .1g and gradually increasing your dose if needed
