This is actually insanity. He's not kidding about that hit window, Me and some friends used to full band grind RB3 for fun and the hit window in that game REFUSES to let you do any extra inputs and demands perfection. Imagine playing DDR but if you don't hit the FANTASTIC marker each time, you missed.

See, I always assumed this was how ALL rhythm games were. It feels a little cheap (to me) to allow for leniency, but I also say this as a staunch perfectionist and know most people would lose their heads trying to perfect some of the shit I've seen come out of these games.

@@DrPonk Clone hero no doubt rewards precision, but because it doesn't always have to, it allows certain charts like Prevail/Megalodon/Supernovae to be possible to complete with the mess of notes they have. And even then, you'll notice the FCs of those songs are still very precise.

After reading up on the timing windows for DDR, I think it’s more accurate to say that you’d need to hit a PERFECT on all notes, not fantasic/marvelous. Still very impressive either way

The GH3 hit window at the start of a song is 1/5 of a second. When you hit notes late it shrinks to 1/8 of a second. Clone Hero has a 1/7 of a second window. With the shrinking window in RB3, Acai was playing 26.6nps with a 1/26 of a second window

@@Lafret17 Supernovae FC is an incredible achievement. The greatest FC of all time is still Megalodon, but it's right up there. It's difficult to express the difficulty changes of the RB3 engine. Chiasm is a truly shocking achievement, it makes things like CH Prevail feel dwarfed in comparison. Chiasm + Acai's other notable FCs is a enough to put it over the top in my mind.

I remember watching Chris grind for this right after I graduated high school. The memories from those streams feel so unforgettable. To think that someone was knocking on the door of something absolutely impossible was mind blowing to me. And to see that lightning has struck twice still absolutely floors me. This should not be possible, not once but twice. This engine is so fickle, and I really feel that with my own experiences, but accomplishing anything on this game felt so rewarding. I’ve long since left this game, about to graduate from college and move on with life stuff, but seeing this done again takes me back to so many great memories. You’re truly the GOAT man.

Even as a casual player, playing Rock Band 3 for the first time after playing Guitar Hero 3 was BRUTAL. I thought my calibration settings were wrong because I had no idea why I was missing so much at first. Kudos to you, Alec, you absolute legend.

rb4 has a slightly smaller window by default, but it does not change with the amount of notes on the screen like rb3 does, which makes fast sections somewhat easier; however, RBN songs cannot be transferred to rb4 like regular DLC can. Pulse of the Maggots is the hardest RB chart on Clone Hero for sure though

rock band network songs that were made available as dlc by harmonix are considered "official" and that included chaotrope's songs there is actually a harder chart, also made by chaotrope, hourglass paroxysm pt2

This song was Rock Band Network (RBN). It was a program HMX started to let people make their own charts, provided they could also license the songs themselves. It was basically official customs.

Reminds me of comparing old vs. new dance games. You can't effectively bracket on the old pads, whereas it's commonplace with modern charts. Clone Hero charts are out of this world, but their difficulty is possible because of what is allowed input wise. It is very difficult to compare across different engines, games, controllers, etc. No doubt this was epically hard

holy shit man... actual legendary play i knew the RB series hit windows could be strict (i've played a bit of RB2 Wii ^^) but i thought RB3 was gonna be more lenient... I WAS DEAD WRONG (also the explanation at the beginning was really helpful!) for real though, even though you grinded this for a bit and showed a few teasers of it throughout the channel, huge fucking ggs acai!! probably the most impressive RB FC i've ever seen next to painkiller :P

even outside of the tight note hit window u still are one of the most clean players i've seen, for example, your open window or supernovae solo f fc on gh 2, your gameplay has little to no ghost freting or slide tapping, congrats!
