If you want to shoot 1080p 24p on Panasonic g85, you need to go to the avchd codec instead of mp4

That's one way to do it. I'm not sure how it processes data though.

@@NolanGunn it looks pretty much like 1080p 60p. Runs smooth in resolve and should be a lightweight solution

That Panasonic 25mm 1.7 is a real gem everyone should have that lens. Especially for the 150ish price. I've used that for street photography and also product shots.

I did purchase the Panasonic Lumix G85 at the beginning of the year and even though it was released back in 2016 if I am not wrong. I can say this camera is still rocking

For "cinematic" looks go with Contax Zeiss lenses, or FD canon.

Absolutely! Glad you found it helpful. The best thing to do is match skin tones first. So do a comparison view in your editor and try to move the Lumix colors less orange and Sony skin less green (if i remember correctly.) It's a lot of trial and error!

What about the Panasonic Leica 15mm f1.7? I've been trying to decide between that and the Sigma 16mm f1.4. I'm currently leaning towards the PanaLeica because it's way smaller but I'd love to hear what you think.

The Sigma 16mm is a beast, I use it on my G85 for almost everything including product shots.

Hey, Nolan! Awesome video, man! I imagine you get this question often, but is the sigma 30mm f1.4 still good for indoors? I've been trying to find any videos like that but I haven't found any. I shoot music videos but also outdoors and I'm looking for something that can give me some depth of field in a room about 5X6 meters. I know you recommend the 16mm...but is there any chance for the 30mm?

Hey thanks so much! I really appreciate that. If you're shooting on the G85 like you said, the 30mm is still going to be pretty tight. The only way i would recommend it is if you are planning on getting both the 16 and the 30. That way you can give some context on the 16 and then maybe head/shoulders shots on the 30. If you're going for one, then i'd do the 16. You could always save a bit and get the 25 1.7 and go more middle-ground. I've enjoyed the utility of a 50mm eqiv. Let me know what you decide! Maybe i'll talk about those lenses for the G85 on my next podcast episode!

i have gx80/85, can you give an advise to reduce noise on the black area like (black cloth, shadow area,etc) even i have use the lowest iso

Like you said, shoot AT 200-400 iso and no higher, from there make sure you are exposing properly. If you can, bring in some light either by changing the time you're shooting or setting up a light dome or something similar.

Nice video. Quick question i see the sigma 16mm contemporatu at best and it said sony are they the same that i can used in g85? I want to learn photography

The mounts are different and you go a length will be different: Sony APSC 16mm -> 24mm M/43 16mm -> 32mm

So where do you rank the lens that comes with the camera often? The 12-60mm one. I am looking at the used market and am unsure of where to land on price, USD, for with or without that particular lens. I am interested in product photography and still video in nature settings. EDIT: I forgot to thank you to! Thanks for your videos, they have been immensely helpful.

You're very welcome! Glad i have been helpful to you. Ive heard great things about the 12-60! Good for products as long as you have a brighter light. It could still be a good lens for nature. Try it for now and see what you like.

I was curious, how is racking focus like with the sigma 18-35 on the g85? I was considering buying it because I don’t like using focus by wire lenses that much, they’re definitely usable but not ideal for me. Does having a speed booster improve manual focus at all or should I just stick to the native lenses?

The 18-35 is a true-manual lens so it's a GREAT experience manual focusing. It's smooth and the perfect focus throw. It really doesn't matter with the speedbooster or not, the lens focuses the same.

Is the 7artisian lens quality better or equal to sigma or panasonic lenses in terms of good or clear video quality?

From what I've seen, not as good. Sigma is probably my favorite lens maker at this point for price and quality. If you go panasonic, go with a more expensive one like the 25 1.4.

I'm a beginner real estate photographer and videographer with the G85 and using a DJI Ronin SC. Currently, I just have the 12-60mm lens but will get either the 7-14mm or 8-18mm lens. What settings do you recommend for shooting real estate photos and video?
