I know the Pokémon games are becoming open world but having a safari zone would be a cool way to catch the original form of a regional variant like for example a safari zone allows you to catch the regular form of Wooper in Paldea

i love that every two generations there's a fungus Pokémon, in Kanto Paras and Parasect, in Hoenn Shroomish and Breloom, in Unova Foongus and Amoongus, in Alola Morelull and Shinnotic and now in Paldea Toadscool and Toadscruel, i hope that pattern never breaks XD

I GOT IT For a modern-day safari zone, where we keep the open world rest of the game, while we have outside of the zone the same as SV, INSIDE it we get PLA styled catching, being unable to send out our Pokémon. I do want PLA catching to be the base standard, but if they ain't gonna do that this is a nice alternative

2:30 I love the idea of roaming legends. Sure, it's a pain to try to catch them, but it gives a challenge trying to track them on the map and run into them. The problem is they CAN RUN AWAY, even if you put them to sleep.

Thanks for this completely original list, Emperor Cubone. I’m always a fan of cross regional evolution. Not only it’s a phenomenal take on adaptation but it’s also interesting to see how Pokémon of old will get a much needed update, especially the Gen 1 Pokémon since many of them, let’s be honest, don’t have the best stat distribution.

Evil teams have been given a rest We haven’t had a traditional evil team since Gen 6 We have either had red herrings or misunderstood good guys Aether foundation and macro cosmos were the closest to traditional evil teams but they were still different enough to be unique And Gen 9 didn’t really have a villain at all Unless you count the latent fail safe AI in the Time Machine

I kinda miss safari zones from a lore perspective. The idea behind them is you can catch Pokémon foreign to the region. Nowadays people assumed Pokémon like Kangaskhan and Chansey are from Kanto when actually they are exotic species to said region. Also it can help to avoid the "every climate in the same country syndrome" some recent regions have this lately, so they can still introduce Pokémon from extreme climates like deserts or polar areas without shoehorning something so out of place, like how Galar has a desert when is based on the UK, which is known for being very wet.

If they bring back the Safari Zone, I really hope they would create a catching mechanic that works similar to the Let's GO games. So every Pokémon requires you to learn a specific pattern, to catch it. It really would make the safari zone really exiting, imo.

In fact, of the so called "regional rodents", Rattata, Biddof, and Skwovet are the only ones that are actually rodents, so the term really should be "early route Normal-type mammal".

Calling dogs and cats a regional trend seems like a huge stretch to me, especially since as you mentioned it's very inconsistent. To the point where I'd argue it's not really a pattern or trend so much as simply "dogs and cats are popular so we get new Pokemon based on them fairly often". I never really cared for the safari zone in previous games. Spamming balls and hoping for the best was never a fun way to catch pokemon IMO. I actually think it could be really cool to see in SV though, simply because they could utilize PLA mechanics of feeding pokemon, sneaking up on them, ect and make it an actually engaging mini-game with strategies and mechanics rather than an RNG ball-throwing fest. Could just make it an enclosed park area and disable your mount (or maybe you rent, like, a Cyclizar for use while inside) to make it more reasonable with the open world mechanics.

The franchise has always been innovating and changing things up so I wouldn’t say predictable Predictability isn’t the samething as tradition They have always experimented with new concepts and mechanics Like breeding,natures,abilities, following pokemon, overworld encounters, physical special split, mega evolution,Zmoves, gigantamax/dynamax amie/refresh/camping, even motion controls from let’s go do these features not count as evolving/progressing are these things not ambitious? The team I had in my Heart Gold is still the team I am the most attached to. ⏺Phone numbers, it felt like making friends, even if I had to hear about how Youngster Joey beat a Pidgey with his Rattata for 1324593053 times. ⏺Pokeamie. Super fun interaction with the Pokemon. Camping and pick nick do not even come close. ⏺Daily events. It didn't bother me that they didn't exist in LA that followed its own path, but in SV their absence is painful. Daily events helped build a routine and play the game every day, even for some minutes. ⏺PSS from the 6th generation, still the best online feature we ever had.
