This video took a SUPER long time to write, pre-produce, and edit, so please remember to LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE! It took me a week and a half to get it finished along with the graphics while staying on top of school, but I'm so glad that I got it done 'cause it's DEFINITELY the hardest I've worked on content for this channel to date! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it!
The First Battle from the Dawn of the Clans arc has quickly become one of my favorite Warrior Cats books of all time. Here's why.

Before this gets out there, I wanted to leave a comment being completely transparent about how I feel regarding the segment at the end of the video. While I appreciate to be given a platform to express my views, I understand why some might hold concerns over how I may have taken that privilege for granted. I apologize if this is speaking over any people or persons and take responsibility if it came across that way, but I can assure you that this was not my intention. I wanted those watching to be able to see that it's okay to enjoy this series even with these things being in it as long as it's properly understood how harmful some of the contents can be to certain individuals. I think it's important to have these discussions (especially as a content creator for this series) because these things do exist within the texts and I believe that ignoring them will only serve to stigmatize the surrounding conversations within the community. Of course, I won't tell you what you can and can't like and for what reasons why either, so if you don't like these books or this book in particular because of these issues, I want it to be clear, without a doubt, that I respect your opinion. I absolutely do not condone the harm that these authors have caused in implying the things that they have, so I could not, in good conscience, put out a review praising the rest of the book without addressing its biggest flaw and the hypocrisy surrounding it in how the authors try to justify it and other scenarios in the series in much the same circumstance. This was not my attempt to trivialize these wrongs and I am deeply, deeply sorry if I did not pay it enough of the respect that it deserved. I wholeheartedly accept and am open to any and all criticisms and will be using your critiques to better myself and my content in the future. Your voice and your opinions mean the world to me. Thank you so much.

PREACH. It really is the best book.. like.. in the entire series imo. We practically see all of our protagonists going through some sort of turmoil (more than they ever have throughout the entire arc) in this book, and it’s.. kind of beautiful in a sense to see all of it happening, and how each character responds to all their losses. Also I appreciate you noted Clearsky/sky star as a narcissist!!! Many just see him plainly as an antagonist and nothing more, but he’s SO much more. It’s strange how he happens to be a narcissist as well as thinking he’s doing everything for the best all at once?? Same with how you say he’s an expansionist, he clearly thinks he’s expanding his territory and limiting those who lived in his new territory before him for the better. It’s super strange because I’ve never heard of a narcissist act such a way. Also another reason to love graywing- as you noted he was just trying to keep the peace, but clearsky seems to not have the same mindset and seeing this is especially sadder when this type of tension is between two brothers who were once quite close. Also thank you about talking about my boy jagged peak!!!! I agree that in the process of warriors trying to make a disabled character for.. I suppose representation? They failed miserably, just making each disabled character the butt of just about.. everything pretty much :/ I wish maybe they could have someone who’s disabled write a character who’s disabled, maybe one who served a great purpose. And I don’t want one for just the reason to exist- as I am also not disabled it’s upsetting to me to that those who actually are disabled can’t get represented in books they love. Making a disabled character with a purpose- for a reason behind why they’re promoted to that rank, not just because Erin hunter needed to make one to hush the people who are saying their current representation is blatantly terrible- would hopefully satisfy those disabled and able. allsooo- unrelated like super unrelated but what if you made a disc server for your channel? I could imagine it getting super popular once u start getting more views which I’m sure will be soon, and likely a good place for discussion! Edit: also pretty dumb to state but in the family tree you put a question mark for thunder’s mother- his mom was actually some cat named storm. She was pretty irrelevant besides the fact that she shows perfectly how merciless clearsky is (when storm died, clearsky barely cared, even when clearsky explained why he rejected thunder at first. During that scene I don’t even think clearsky merely *mentioned* storm.. lol)

Thank you so much for the comment! I totally agree with you that Clear Sky doesn’t get enough rep for how good he’s written in this book. He really carried it when he needed to! I would love to make a Discord when (or if haha) I grow a little more, but I have a Twitter on my profile that you can interact with me on if you like! Also, yes, I know that Storm was Thunder’s mother: I just left it out because it was spoilers LOL thank you anyway though

I have 2 disabled oc’s- Flameheart and Mossflower. Flameheart lost most of her sight when an added spat venom into her eyes, leaving her only able to see lights, shadows, and very bright, intense colors. Mossflower had a flaming branch fall on her back and leave a very bad burn across her shoulders that limited the mobility of her front paws. In each of their arcs, Flameheart becomes a fierce warrior who ends up saving the clans and Mossflower retires at first, but later comes out of retirement to guide her Clan through a hard time after their deputy dies and their leader goes missing, insipiring him to make her deputy when he returns- so she can continue to serve her Clan without overworking her injury. I want to see something like this in a the core canon series! A disabled character becoming a respected and somewhat feared warrior and maybe even a deputy with a good chance of becoming leader!

I totally agree about Jagged Peak's story, they shouldn't sweep this stuff under the rug. I will keep buying and loving the books but I will acknowledge the wrongs in the storylines. I love that you do spoiler free reviews despite me already reading the books. Also Dawn Of The Clans is by far my favorite arc in the whole series and my favorite part of DoTC is actually the back half!

@@Cheeseballzzzz I get that LOL. I don't care what people say about it, I love doing it and they can't stop me. The comics and stuff were actually some of the last books I got, but I also went back and picked up the hardback versions of all the Super Editions w/ original covers by Owen Richardson-- if you take off the sleeve, they all have the full cover art printed onto the books themselves! SOOO pretty I swear.

The fact that some cats discriminate against jagged peak doesn't mean the authors see him as incopitant. If you are phisically disabl3ed, you probably don't need to go to war..

valid criticism that i'll keep mind of in the future!! i modeled the graphics off of the warrior cats website family tree and sampled the colors from their website, but i'll be sure to darken the text a little more just to be safe next time. thank you!

prophecies begin and dotc are the only arcs i read fully (the rest of the series i know through youtube), and i thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 books of dotc, they were top notch. clear sky was an amazingly interesting villain, and the first battle culminating with the creation of starclan was a phenomenal climax. the rest of the series was very meh by comparison, with forgettable throw-away villains like one-eye and slash, but they still had some interesting plot lines. elements from moth flight's vision, especially the discovery of the moonstone and the leaders getting their nine lives, should have been the plot for the later half of dotc, rather than the random one-off plotlines like the blazing star that we got instead. they felt really rushed in moth flight's vision, whereas over three books of dotc, everything could have been expanded upon better, and would have been a better segue to the amazing first half of the arc.

I love Dawn of the Clans. I think for most most of the time they had more freedom to write a bit more than they could in the books made now having to keep(ish) in the Code/ laws they made. Not fully but more than before the laws were made.

I think the reason the Erin Hunter team won't write any more cats with disabilities is most likely because the dont know how to write one without being ableist, they dont have a team member with a disability that could help them write it with out the ableist or, they cant be bothered to talk to someone professionally about how to write a disabled character without offending everyone. I think it would be cool if they did have a disabled cat in one of the clans. the type i usually envision is one missing a leg or blind on one eye/or both.

I jus recognized this, but one thing i think that they atleast do better then the other books is that jagged peak is allwed to hunt. Thats at least one tiny tiny tiny mini mini mini step in SOME direction. Not saying that they are doing abelism right, but at least they have ONE detail somewhat right. Let me say it again, im NOT saying that they are doing it right in any way, but its at least better on that part then the other books. Even if it is much worse when it comes to like the characters thinking that he is "weak".

I think the Erins should stop this ableism but i do think there should be exceptions, not as in letting them do this but as in adding to a alredy hateful character
