Hey guys, that was the most stunning, amazing, surprising, breathtaking footage I have ever seen of under water film. I really watched with my mouth wide open, saying good lord, how wonderful is that. I had no idea so much bio-luminescence existed. Thanks for an eye opener episode.

In Australia we call it a Night Dive the only thing your doing is also making a drift dive off the boat :) we also add a Glow stick to the top of the Tank so the rest can locate you if needed , Great Vlog well done All.

Absolutely fantastic! I'll be watching every single video you do with a good dive in it. A heartfelt thank you for sharing. This is something I'd love to do some day. Nothing like these experiences to connect you with the incredible and intricate system that is the earth's biosphere. Are you going to Lord Howe Island? That looks like an awesome place.

When I first saw ED back several years ago, on Delos, the Butterfly episode, I was more more intrigued by Jordan and her outgoing personality (NOTHING to do with the Butterfly patches lol) . But, lately, Nate has surprised me with his easy way of getting through this journey. Having a large crew is no small task, especially when some are green to boat life, yet he makes it seem possible for them which is very important for a Captain ! This was an incredible video, not the best considering the Solomon Islands series but still a great shoot . Seeing how diverse and vibrant the Ocean is makes me yearn to be out there with you. Captain, you are an inspiration and an awesome role model. My hats off to you, Thank you for sharing your world voyage with us .

Hi Nate and crew, thanks for bringing your life, what you live to us every week. I seen photo's of black dives before that people took, but never video. Thanks for bring this to use. You can live your life on land, but you will never experience life to its fullest, unless you have seen real life in the vast open water.

I do love your videos. Can I ask a simple, but perhaps dumb question? Did you produce all of these underwater video/photography on your dives there? You certainly have the talent for it I'm sure, but wow... it was amazing. Thanks, and I'll follow you pretty much 4ever. small edit... yes, we know more about other planets around us than our own ocean. Thank you once more for helping to discover this unknown space. You need a membership drive. Your dives is why I love you.

It would have been really great to see your setting up of this dive in action, then getting in, camera equipment, etc. THEN, all the beauty. Also, would have been cool to know if we see the animals emitting light/color in blackness or because your lights are on them, etc. Your viewers want to see what you are doing. You have so much training, knowledge amd equipment, show us!!! How deep were you? How deep are these creatures coming from? tell us!! Isn't this the mission?

What, if any, specialist camera equipment do you need to capture the creatures on a blackwater dive? "Normal" camera and lenses, or something more towards the exotic low light capable end? UV? Macro? I'd love to know.
@ExpeditionDrenched
@ExpeditionDrenched 2 жыл бұрын
Macro Very very macro with a light pointed directly down on the subject. It’s likely the hardest thing imaginable to film because all you see is specs coming at you in the blackness and you have only a moment to focus and film. Captain Nate

So this black water diving is like fishing with human bait. Are you hoping to catch a mega giant squid coming up from the depths, like 100 meters long?
