This episode delves into the exploration of traditional gender roles within relationships and marriage, shedding light on the shifting dynamics and expectations of both men and women. It examines the concept of courtship, the act of gift-giving, and the changing attitudes of the younger generation towards these conventional roles. The conversation revolves around two key themes: navigating a toxic relationship and fostering a healthy marriage.
The email of the week is about a woman in a toxic relationship who is trying to navigate the challenges of being involved with a man who is already in a separate and committed relationship. Gia challenges her to explore her own self worth as she suffers the emotional turmoil caused by her own bad decisions.
The conversation continues with the healthy marriage theme as Gia and Envy focus on the delicate balance of being a spouse, maintaining intimacy, and expressing gratitude within the context of a long-term relationship. Let’s talk about it…🗣️🗣️

Thank you, Gia! We do not want to go 50/50, but this new generation of men don't know how to lead, keep jobs, and don't want to fulfill their roles so we are forced to do it....

That 50/50 conversation is exhausting! I’m not paying 1/2 and doing everything else ! I totally agree with Gia! Me and my girls have had conversations about this 🙅🏾‍♀️!!I am old school definitely! I’m cool with doing the traditional “women “ things around the house! I have no interest in doing the lawn or putting a battery in the car. But to each their own!🤷🏽‍♀️

This was such a great podcast! The topics and answers. It was beautiful and loving to see Goa handle the side chick in the way manner that she did. She explained that there is something missing or lacking within. 🙏🏾 and the fact that hey checked their son about not watching the girl leave the home and make it to her car was what the youth needs. I as someone who started dating a senior in dental school, understand and completely agree with Gia. I knew his situation so I was okay with the coffee shop, I can pay for the movies and some occasional things as he had thousands to pay for board exams, license etc. he covered things and wanted to pay when I was treating so it's situational for sure. But that's also not his mindset! He's not a 50/50 man or concern with how much I make. He's very open about his salary, plans for further investments etc. it never includes my portion .

Gia, thank you mama for your message on Email of the week. Lol I needed to hear this just as a reminder. Sometimes we need to hear that to remember our worth. I needed this advice last year for sure. I was almost in a situation like this too. Still struggling with it. It was an emotional connection never physical ever. I still struggle with a man I still have feelings for but has been in a long term relationship too. Its an unrequited love situation. Its not worth it. You need to remember God will bless your love life, you in general, and will prepare you for the right person too. What's meant for you is meant for you too.

As a GAY MAN who is happily married to another Man. I feel that this conversation is abit different from my perspective. “Traditional” marriage for me & mine is, Him who is looked at as the “Masculine” one he does all the things that Envy does. Me as the “Feminine” one(still a STRONG BLACK MAN please don’t get it twisted) will do all the things Gia does. So I feel that, the LGBT marriages needs to be taken into consideration in this conversation also. “Traditional” marriages have expanded.

I’m not paying half of anything. When dating, these are the conversations you should have to see if you’re fit for each other. I explained to my husband while dating, I’m spoiled. I like nice things and I like to travel internationally. Is that ok for you, and it was ok with him, because we have a lot of similarities. I was raised that a man takes care of his home. But, if it works in a relationship to go half Its what works for them.

50/50 shouldn’t apply as a literally split of everything. It means that we have each other’s back. And taking out trash, cooking, cleaning, helping with kids, etc. shouldn’t be gender roles. That’s simply being an adult.

If he can afford it lol . Good point. If he can't then he can't. The mentality if you want 50/50 then it got to be all the way . I agree. A lot of women said they expected to help with the bills and do all the cooking and cleaning. That wack..

you know with always giving a gift you get the other person to always expecting something, what if one day you don't have? what if a day you don't have mommy and daddy to help you ? you got to always stay humble..!!!! giving thousands of dollars gift or helicopters rides is not being humble.

When gia said she happy to pick his clothes up on the floor. I know I heard a couple women that say oh no we still Expect him to pay all the bills and help around the house. I seen this on social media. . One women brag she doesn't have to pay bills or cook . It like if her man is happy good for her 🤣🤷. Some women feel like if a guy ask for cooking and cleaning he want a maid. I seen this over and over . I like it depends what relationship you want. You both pay bills..you both take care of the house. That my version of 50/50. They are rich so their life different then most people. They do have help..

Plenty of people go 50/50 and have been married for decades. To say this isn’t a thing with the “regular” couples is disingenuous. I agree men need to be men, but women have changed the most. Men have tried to adapt and have fallen flat. You can’t pick and choose traditional and modern, that’s what’s messing up the game. I’ve never let a woman pay, but I’m all on traditional, that’s what I want and I’m not accepting anything less and hopefully the right woman won’t accept less either
