That image in the thumbnail reminds me of the TEC Kodiaks from Sins of a Solar Empire. A game I am recently playing and thoroughly enjoying. Edit - The might Skanuri fleet, built to safeguard our worlds, formed layer after layer to guard the home system. The cats came with 30 ships. Our weapons filled the void and despite the lack of atmosphere, their roars were thundering. But for all that fire, we slew only one of their vessels as they ripped out fleets apart. They mangled us, and we shouldn't have been surprised.

Here's an idea for Lathrix: Make the Katzen ships in From the Depths. :D

Hey Lathrix you should try the ACOT mod, it’s the only mod I know of that matches if not surpasses Gigastructural engineering in terms of crazy power

Iirc there's a special project to study the battlemoon before they go FTL, and you can assist them in its construction. This means you start with increased opinion when they hit FTL. You can also study and/or sabotage it.

Neat, I only played against the Katzern once and that was spent mostly fighting a back and forth war mostly just trying to keep my empire's borders the same because I didn't have enough fleets to protect all of my borders and the Katz were stronger than my bastions. They basically had taken over the entire rest of the galaxy when I decided to start a new game because the game had started to chug and I was getting bored with trying to endlessly bombard their homeworld (I really wanted flusion and its pops, I couldn't bear to use a colossus on it)

So I started a hive playthrough, first neighboring system I surveyed had a ruined Dyson sphere, then I rolled cybrex precursor, and then found the ‘Galaxy in a Bottle’ abandoned relic world a few jumps from my home system. All in the first few years, of course. Best start I think I’ve ever had.

These bloody cats took out the entire galaxy in my play through, and they built so much ships that it is lagging my game so much and I am scared to go to war.

If you fight them, I recommend not going to war immediately. There's neat stuff you can do with the resistance and the Galactic Community. Also it seem it's apparently possible for the Katzen empire to eventually collapse on its own, though I've never gotten to that point in any of my games.

in my run i tried to befriend them but then they declared war on my vasal so I cheesed the game and was able to capture about half of the galaxy from them due to there being no claims

i found something funny that could work with any event. if you press escape on something like a fallen empire demanding to humiliate you it cancels it and they dont get a casus beli so when cats ask for system maybe it would work

personally i just love black holes, so im very interested is there a chance there will be a stellaris video with this mod where you use mostly black hole based technology and origin (after you unlock the tech, of course) and who knows, maybe there will be big explosions = )

So Lathland, in Gigastructures, have you found Pauushia yet? It's this cute lil primitive world... that is one of the hardest to invade EVER. Success is worth it though because the reward... bloody hell it's worth it. Also suggest trying to bombard and colossi the planet to soften it up first.

You know, you should really try Ancient Cache of Technology, great tech and story mod. Not nearly as grand in scale or depth as gigastructural engineering, but it’s still really good.
