A year after the death of prominent Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, questions remain about who he really was. His murder sparked international tension between the Canadian and Indian governments and this past spring the RCMP charged four Indian nationals with his murder. To those who knew him, Nijjar was a community leader and family man but the Indian government has called him a murderous terrorist.
Globe reporters Nancy Macdonald and Greg Mercer spent months speaking with members of Nijjar’s Surrey B.C. community as well as those who knew him in India. They join the show to discuss what they found about Nijjar’s enigmatic life.

Do these guy’s understand how much Indians have suffered from the Punjab violence. Canada is interfering in India affairs.

So few things are clear: 1. Nijjar was always in touch with Khalistani separatists 2. Trudeau wants to politicise this issue for electoral gains 3. Canadians don't care about handling the issue of terrorism within their borders which is masquerading as Sikh separatism

@@stormtrooper8420 Over 280 Canadian citizen were bombed out of the sky in 1985, likely due to Canadian authorities' negligence. Again Canadian government showed its negligence in investigating how bombs smuggled into that Air India flight in 1985. I suppose for you it would be over 280 Canadian citizens were not killed in Canadian soil?

@@stormtrooper8420 What are you talking about? Just one person was sentenced to jail in this terror case by Canada. This was after there were two bombs that were planted, in order to down two different aircraft. Fortunately the other one failed.

Thank you for this report. It is the most informative report I have seen. The government is vague, but the Canadian government is always vague so it doesn't get implicated in all its own " Inconsistencies "

This is a good example of one country's terrorist being another country's political dissident.

“ peaceful movement “. Please see the people who were killed by Khalistan movement in 1990 - 2000. Amazing that the khalistani involvement in air india is being glossed over.

India squeezes the lime - Canada eagerly collects the pips and calls them peaceful revolutionaries - the pips bear sour fruit for Canada - India wrings hands and makes a show of being vexed - if you find that complex, you're in the wrong game, Canuck...

Thank you all of you. Sincerely appreciate your reporting. One of the aspects we review in USA is “Follow the Money “ . It has been reported that he had net worth around $5’0 Million. If that is true, how does a “Plumber “ accumulate 5 million. Please dig into his tax returns, if possible.

Canada has for decades bungled this issue time and again showing high levels of indifference, complacency, racism and lack of proper investigation regarding Khalistan. Canada also needs to get over its colonial mindset of being a Western country that doesn't need to follow rules. Calling India a "friendly" country and then undermining it at every step isn't a good look. All this talk of Indian interference but nary a word of Trudeau "monitoring" farmer protests in India or the fact that embassy staff mixed in the crowd protesting. Canada seems to care more about the rights of Punjabi farmers than the freedoms of Canadian truckers. That being said, India needs to prove its case better with incontrovertable proof. They can't go killing people overseas this way. Modi overstepped and got caught. They need to grow a thick skin.

Let me help the people who think, this guy is still enigma. Imagine his religion was islam and the country of his birth was Australia. Now does he seem like a terrorist or a “activist”. Gun training is not done by “activists”.

Khalistani is Pakistan movement{for Bangladesh revenge) not a sikh movement. People forgot about Tranistor radio bombing all over india. Kiling all peaceful people by Khalistan terrorism. We indian Love Sikh, We love how hard working people they are.. India is not build based on religion, it for the people and by the people.
