I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this conversation! I first heard Shanese speak on a podcast called 3 Dreads and A Durag (they ended in 2019 i think), and was absolutely captivated by the knowledge she holds and shares. Thank you for bringing her on your show. I've never met her but I know she is a gem seeing the work she has done and is doing.

I'm not in Canada (Virginia, U.S.), but I really appreciated Shenese giving a truly beautiful crash course on indigenious peoples of Canada and this intersectionality between black folks and indigenious folks. Not to center the conversation on the States, but I wanted to say this convo resonates! I have always believed that the connection between black and indigenious folks would be POWERFUL. It's difficult because there is so much division and not enough conversation and listening between us to really get it going. It still gives me a jolt of shock to realize how connected all our struggles are. I'm trying to do my part and get educated and speak and mostly direct folks to references and resources as much as possible. And I am grateful for all who are a part of this work. Thank you Maggie for this video and for all the content you pour your heart into! It doesn't go unnoticed.

Jackie, thanks so much. I love when ppl from the states are able to learn more about Canada’s history and how struggles marginalized folks here, aren’t so different from the states. It’s all connected ❤️. I could listen to Shanese all day as she’s a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for doing your part to educate yourself. It’s the 1st step 😊
