As an Interpreter myself I very much like the bit where Jake Gyllenhall says: "you're here to translate" and the Interpreter replies: "actually I am here to interpret" happens to us all the time

If I'm honest: At first I thought this was going to be just another standard 'American soldier returns from war, has PTSD' movie but this looks legit interesting. Too many interpreters and other people who helped the US troops were left behind, only to be killed or tortured by the Taliban. The fact it's a Guy Ritchie movie also fills me with hope.

I've always said this about firefighters. When everyone else is screaming, panicking and rushing out of a building ... those brave men and women are the ones going in, call after call. Same goes for our police who could be pulling over a soccer mom or a member of a drug cartel, and our EMT's who see some of the most disturbing and shocking things imaginable when they roll up to a 10-car pile-up. So many people brave people on this planet who don't do it for the glory, fame or money ... they do it because it's who they are. Respect for anyone who puts their physical, emotional and/or mental health on the line every day for the rest of us.

I like that the story is timeless. One person paying off a lifetime debt to another. I could set this to any point in human history and it would work. Shameful how we treated these guys who were on the front lines with our troops after they risked everything to keep our men safe. Respect from Canada to Ritchie and his team for telling this story. I think this is a good film to show how much interpreters have done for us in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even if it's a sensational story, they put their lives on the line for us. Their family life even. People need to understand that these interpreters deserve to be saved. It's a shame that few know the true stories this film is based on and how we eventually abandoned and withheld help from those who helped us. Seems pretty good. Authenticity is key in movies like this. New clothes and gear are a real giveaway in many movies. The way a soldier walks around carrying kit is another. It's not easy and fluid to move with weight. Looking forward to seeing this movie. And it's great to see Anthony Star of TV's The Boys and Banshee on the big screen. This guy needs more recognition. Jake Gyllenhaal as the Sergeant John Kinley, member of... _Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC)??????_ A TACP is a Tactical Air Control Party. It is comprised of a JTAC (Joint Terminal Air Controller) and a ROMAD (essentially a JTAC in training, though the reality is ROMADs are frequently seasoned operators in their own right, having completed lengthy and arduous blocks of training and lacking only the final JTAC certification). JTACs direct the action of combat aircraft operating in CAS (Close Air Support) and other offensive operations, calling in airstrikes and gun runs like an FO or an ANGLICO Marine calls in artillery or naval gunfire. The NATO is Forward Air Controller. A typical TACP (JTAC or ROMAD or both) might be on an infantry patrol one day to coordinate immediate CAS and attached to an ODA the next day for the same reason. United States Air Force Tactical Air Control Party, commonly abbreviated TACP, is an individual or team of US AFSPECWAR (Air Force Special Warfare) Airmen with AFSC 1Z3X1, who are aligned with conventional, Special Operation Forces, and Tier 1 combat maneuver units. They direct lethal and nonlethal joint firepower anywhere, anytime the battle calls for it. They are also the primary Air Force advisors to U.S. Army, joint, multinational and special operations ground force commanders for the integration of air, space and cyber power. The JTAC motto is *ADVISE, ASSIST, CONTROL.*

Guy Ritchie's storytelling and direction, Jake Gyllenhaal's obviously great acting and Dar Salim, superb visuals and an emotional soundtrack - this is gonna be Oscar worthy. As an interpreter myself, I’m looking forward to that movie… we have endured so much to move the United States. Lost friends dislocated from family trapped in wars that we don’t belong to, we are only trying to do the right thing by saving the good guys and send them back home to their families. In the meantime, we lost our times, and our families. Am I proud of it? Absolutely would I do that again with a heartbeat… after 242 combat missions for six years I think I did my time and many others are trapped in a rock in Afghanistan, because the SIV visa program got canceled, I wish I could see my brothers and sisters back here so they can enjoy your freedom ❤

When I was in jail I met Mustafa Alajar. He was an interpreter as well for the army in Iraq. He survived an IED after being told to go get beer for the soldiers. Even though they knew they weren’t suppose to leave the base at night. He didn’t know. God bless you brother for being a humble servant and for your example. He never complained
