I used to work at a small family owned pastry shop. This brings back good memories. Although, my boss had us working at a very quick pace. And if something wasn't perfect he would be sure to let you know. Often customers would be lined up out the door. Holidays were always a busy time for us. I always looked forward to the leftover pies and cakes. Anything not sold was free for us to take home. My favorite part of my job was cleaning out the huge mixing bowl of chocolate mouse. There was always a little bit left over in the bowl. At Christmas my boss would pass around German beer for us to enjoy while we worked. His shop was closed recently. It will be missed.

If making baked apples try putting chopped dried fruit like dates, raisins, sultanas or apricots along with spices and brown sugar in the middle instead (for example the dried mix fruit you use to make Christmas puddings/cake) .... Also can use pears, nashi pears (an apple and pear cross-breed), quince or stone fruits like peach, nectarine or apricot instead of apples (time it takes to bake the fruit will vary) If you don't want to use water to help the fruit as it bakes then you can make a quantity of herbal tea like peach, peppermint or chai tea and use it instead, it gives an extra flavour (may be subtle). Michelle! I learnt different variations from my mum and her mum. We all have our favourites. Mine is apples stuffed with brown sugar and cinnamon baked in a few cups of chai tea. My mum loves apples stuffed with dates. I always try to make extra and freeze them when they are cooked. Ready for heating up in the microwave when I'm not feeling well. Mum and grandma had a tradition. They used to make baked apples when we were sick, as something easy to chew and swallow. Like making toast with sugar and cinnamon on it or giving us lemonade ice cubes to cool us down and stop nausea. Grandma's remedies included plain cooked rice, and grating an apple and letting it go brown before you ate it to help sore tummies. Strange traditions that preserve my grandma's memory. I hope you are getting regular sleep now. It can be so frustrating and defeating when you need sleep but can't drop off no matter how long you lay in bed. I found that one thing helped me to get sleep: I needed to use up my mental "energy" with reading, colouring, crafty stuff or using my imagination before I tried to fall asleep. I deal with chronic fatigue syndrome and chronic pain as well as other physical and mental health challenges. I like to share what helped me in case it can help others. Hope it helps you. I have been struggling with insomnia for awhile now and I can easily get to sleep at night but then when I wake up in the middle of the night, Incant get back to sleep. Thankyou, Thomas! I don't know if you take suggestions, but what about a walk through a lavender field in Provence? Most of us insomniacs have used lavender oil to try and wind down at some point. It could make for an immersive experience 🤗 love from France

Have you listened to the storyvalled "blue gold" read by Stephen Fry? It's a walk thru lavender fields etc. Also try searching for Michelle's sanctuary lavender meditation/sleep story videos for a soothing female voice. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot

I love listening to this . I listened last night not even half way and I fell asleep. Then I had to get up . Then I couldn’t go back to sleep.until I started it over again and I fell asleep. Again . I sent the link to my sister since she’s having some pain issues. This will absolutely help . Thomas has a smooth calming voice. I love it .

This is literally the sweetest set of stories. I usually don’t like to relisten to stories, but I have a feeling I’ll be back to listen to these again. They’re just lovely ❤ And I personally love your rate of speech. As someone with ADHD, sometimes it helps to slow videos down to .75 speed so I can pay better attention, but your timbre and rate are both just perfect ❤
