Very true. When my pa died when I was 15. He grinded at this company for 20 years and it got bought by a bigger corporate company. They wouldn’t honor his stock options or the bonus structure he got paid out on from wins. Basically millions robbed from him and they pretty much said don’t like it? Leave. He was a year away from retiring. All those late nights. He was so angry and the powerlessness of the situation ate away at him. Then he got physically ill. And died 5 months later. I was there for his last moment and the last words he said to me was: “Wait. No. No. I don’t want to die. There’s still so much I have to do. Im not ready. I just want one more chance.” This one event is what shattered my rose colored glasses for life. That’s when the pop music I listened to turned into metal.

You can view life negatively but still exude positivity from your own self .. life is about balance , not one philosophy or another .

Then many people either never read him or fail to understand him at all. His view on life is not complicated. You can sum it up in a very short time period and it could already be life altering. I'd like to add that it doesn’t take much to see the world for what it is. It’s just that most folks never care to look. They rush from one activity to the next but they never stop to _watch_ *all of it* . There are many possibilities that can lead you to question the fabric of our reality. Be it a natural curiosity or a shock.

Do not be content- with anything other than death, because to be content is to escape from want; which in itself is striving towards avoiding suffering. Do not strive, just be. However, I also don’t agree you should love yourself over loving others; I think you should do both. Why someone would argue for one over the other makes no sense to me. Yes, let’s all accept we are born then we die but in between there is “doing.” Being born we have no control over but dying and the “doing” we have some choice. So in your “doing” if you choose to “just be” and believe “just being” and loving yourself alone is “enough” then you’ve decided there is no work to do, there is no growth to be had, so it would really make no difference if one were to commit suicide. Isn’t that the likely outcome of such thinking? Why drag out life with all its suffering only to “just be?” Of course, if you said no, life must continue or I must endure life despite suffering then you’re revealing a hidden assumption about the “doing” we humans do. But what is that hidden assumption? That could mean there is some sort of work to be done, there is growth to be had, it’s not sufficient to “just be.” So, you can “be” more by “doing” more and not just for yourself but for all living things.

He (Schopenhauer) took everything he ever knew from the Vedic's, Mahabharata, the teachings of Shiva etc...All of these "genius scientists, physicists, and academics knew a small amount of Sanskrit. Reference the movie Oppenheimer. They mention it real quick when someone asks Opie where he is getting these ideas, he said the Vedic's and that he is learning Sanskrit. Sanskrit can and never will be solved in totality because it needs to be sang or sung in a dialect that no longer exists. All Hebrew geniuses stole from India. They are great at copying others.

@@markthekingmarktheking5217 Not only is western philosophy different in method and overall content from the Hindu classics, Schopenhauer doesn't even deny that he takes from these works.

But without pain you can no longer grow emotionally. To know is to be set in the believe that the guidelines of reality are cemented in a form of concreteness. When you are the one with the power of belief , which is far more powerful than knowing. You can manifest what it is you want to see and be via action and will power. 47 ;)
