That's good to hear that Dave has since bounced back from all of that and that he's still sharing skills to others... only he's doing it through KZfaq and not a scandalous network like discovery. His standards and character are too good for discovery anyways... Everyone was so hard on Dave, but my God, look at what all Joe did and the scandal that he brought to the show. If Dave was THAT BAD... you can't helpnbe wonder what they saw in Joe... then again, people of questionable character DO tend to stick together You would think discovery learned their lesson... and then here comes the Alaskan Bush People, who were exposed in season 1. And the scanda surrounding those people worse than anything of Duel Survival, and it runs deep... we've only seeing the beginning of what's about to unfold. That entire family and the shows producers, filming Alaska Bush People was one big cocaine party. I think that's why thru kept running the show for as long as they did

@@EricLopez.Official you know what I’ve always found amazing about the critics of DC …. They know he lied on his resume, but they have no idea what exactly he lied about, or what the actually truth was. Hell I don’t know exactly what is it is he claimed, nor exactly what the truth was. And to this day I still suspect SOMEONE encouraged him to exaggerate his credentials and the reason why he was black listed and dumped has more to do with silencing him about exposing that person.
@EricLopez.Official2 жыл бұрын
@@MrSheckstr Long story short, Dave knows his stuff. clearly he is one of the best there is, but in the eyes of the media companies he wanted to work for he lacked qualifications to teach professionally. Cody has been legally teaching for years so he was considered qualified. At least that's my understanding of the situation. At the end of the day, Dave is a Badass who knows what he's talking about through experience and in my book, that makes him more than qualified to teach. He's a great guy and all he has ever done is try to teach others how to take care of themselves.

Such as when either of you say a word and then question the word choice, you pause, look away in thought, and then audibly agree or disagree with yourself about the word choice. Gotta love family traits!! Just today on Wranglerstar2, at the end of the video, Jack pauses in thoughtful silence and then says "just another day". At the age of 4 in 1982 myself my mother and 2 sisters drove my father to meet his ride for work. That was the last we saw of him. Disappeared. He was a farmer. He farmed on halves with landowners harvest wheat and soybeans they had planted. After the crops were sold he was to deliver the land owners share. Instead he took it and ran. 15 years later he's found. Alive and well and unconcerned with what and whom he left behind. He served prison time. From the age I could be angry I remaind hatefully bitter till the age of 31. I finally realized my hatred separated me from God. I forgave him. This forgiveness was the healing to my spirit. Dave may have made a mistake but he too is human and subject as well. People don't hold bitterness against the man you'll only harm yourself. Matthew Cornelison

I have much to say about this but, honestly, it's screaming in the wind. I will say this though, claiming training that you don't have isn't "stolen valor" and screaming it like a school child does nothing but cheapens true valor. If you claim a medal of honor wrongly that's stolen valor. It tears down true valor with a lie. Dave didn't do that. He just claimed training that he didn't have. That's wrong and he knows it. I've seen the apology video and as someone who served I can forgive him and still call him brother. He did serve and as far as I can tell served well. That demands respect. To apologize in a public forum that your family will see takes more heart that many here have. To lie takes a small man. To refuse to forgive takes a smaller man. Grace is a beautiful thing.
@preparedmind1019 жыл бұрын
Excellent point about "training vs medals". Personally, as a 10 yr military very with an honorable discharge myself, I'll more then a little sick of all the military worship. I stop everyone that says "Thank You for your service". I think it cheapens everyone else out there that does a shitty job so we don't have to. When was the last time you thanked the guy that picks up your garbage for HIS service? Grovelling to the military is government propaganda. So when the time comes time comes that the Army ends up on the streets kicking your door in someday in the future, you lie down and start kicking boots. Truth hurts. Everyone also misses ONE MAJOR POINT: Dave doesnt sell knowledge based on "having done or learned it in the military". Anywhere. And if he HADN'T done it.... how many people would not have learned from him over the past few years? People need to grow up.

@_cb3368 жыл бұрын
I proffer this opinion unrelated to the specific subject, but merely as a position on the argument. Apologizing does not make everything ok. If you could apologize for murdering someone, or selling crack to a junkie, we would not be the world leader in percentage of population incarcerated. If you misrepresent yourself for personal advantage, that's wrong. No amount of apologizing makes it better. The Bible is, at best, skewed in its position as a handbook for morality. Guilt fluctuates from doctrine to doctrine; shame resonates equally regardless of belief. The position of one who casts light upon that shame is irrelevant to the original shamefullness of the act. No hypocrisy here, no cowardice, just an open hearted desire to see argument take place, as it should, from a position of not knowing.
@worddunlap8 жыл бұрын
+Clif Brigden They have a right to be upset, especially vets. That right does not extend to trolling. Apologizing only after the deception is revealed is Clintonesque and will always be suspicious in some people's opinions. Calling them cowards isn't right either. If 2 wrongs don't make a right then 3 don't. Justified anger exists and isn't wrong.

Banning people who trust you because they don't trust a liar? I understand if they're causing issues on your comments. You're entitled to keep a clean discussion. However, I find Canterbury very disingenuous. I gave parts of myself on the battlefield and I go to the VA almost every week because of it. I would say this to your face or to Mr. Canterbury's. If I get the chance to I will. My brothers, my sisters, my friends who DID have the valor, honor, awards, and schools that Canterbury claims to have had do not deserve his siphoning off their valor and honor. His actions discredit servicemen and make it harder for us to get jobs and to integrate into society. We generally don't talk about our service because inevitably you hear 3 guys at a bar claim to be navy seals or green berets. Then they get defensive and their friends defend them when you ask what unit they were in and where they served and if they knew so and so. He didn't come out and apologize because he felt bad for what he had done. He came out and apologized to attempt to save his brand. He IS a liar and he only told the truth because he was outed. You can be friends with him if you want. You know the situation and you make your choice. My only request is that you understand with a heavy heart that we, who lived through war and those schools and hold the honor and valor he claims are pained by these admissions and it actually hurts all of us in real life. Not some butt hurt feelings on a keyboard but actual visible problems. Do you think it's a coincidence that the president has to coerce companies into hiring veterans? I've had a company refuse to hire me because they had been burned by too many people lying and pretending to be veterans and that they didn't want to spend the money on verification and thus just decided not to hire ANY vets. What do you think this does to our families and our lives? please in the future, think of all the consequences of someones actions before going on a rant and calling us cowards and banning us from your page. (if they're rude then by all means, no one needs to be rude here). like I said before, you are an adult, you choose what you want to do. If people want to stop watching you because they disagree with who you are friends with. Then let them. But don't accuse those of us who criticize a known and admitted liar and valor thief when we have REAL actionable concerns. He's seriously lucky he was a celebrity because there is REAL jail time for the things he did. I didn't plan on talking, but your rant made me chime in. I am a veteran and I have held those who did do what Dave claims to have done in my arms and did what I could to console them, many of whom died or are now missing limbs. Dave has stolen from them. I know you don't like thieves and I know you're christian and will give people 2nd chances. Practice what you preach and be prepared to forgive those that had outbursts over your affiliation and protecting a known liar and thief.

that does NOT make sense, he never STOLE VALOR, or faked medals or none of that, he simply said he had a bit of training that he did not, and he DID serve in the military and did so very well. he is not a cheat, or a valor thief, he did not disrespect the military or dishonor it in anyway, he simply stated he had training that was stretched a bit, as he obviously i hope had recieved more then enough training to call himself an expert, and you are definetly the first miltary person ive seen on here say such things toward him, but it seems each person ive seen saying negative things toward dave, are all taking what happing completely out of context, and fitting to how the world is beginning to turn as people over exagerate minor issues, and a large portion of those same people typically twist things to seem more GLAMOUROUS to the media (meaning they are adding or changing the truths into appearing to be far worse then it is) but to even beging to say he STOLE VALOR is wrong in everyway, i have a thing or 2 i can say about valor as well, considering my family has been military since they rode horse and carried swords. my fatehr, my grandfather great grandfather and greatgreat grandfather, not counting all the other not so close family, you im sure understand what im saying. and i do not take what happened with dave more then, he was simply in survivor mode, and made a not so good choice to try and ensure he could better the life of not himself, but more so his family. and by him making a video, unscpripted directly to the world makes him far far more of a man, then any military or outdoors experience combined ever could, that is something that you do NOT see anymore, and 1 out of about 50,000 people would be man enough to do this these days, it seems to society the best thing to have done was lie to the bitter end, and lie so much they are unable to tell where the lie ends and the truth begins, thats the NORM of humans these days, unfotunetly. it was ok for our government to lie from day one, lie and just purely fabricate propaganda to ban such substances as cannabis etc, and it seem to this day you see not one single thing about it, a man bends the truth a bit to try and ensure the future of his family financially, not like he made millions btw and its treated as tho he spied for the russians or something..

Dave Fudged his resume a bit to get a Job with no idea they'd go Public with it. Who hasn't fluffed a resume? As for the other: "He who is without sin…" I'm not exactly sure what Jesus' point was that day. It certainly wasn't that one is NEVER to Judge or to Enforce Laws. It was God himself-back in Moses' day-who instituted the "Stone Adulterers" law… And nowhere in Leviticus or Deuteronomy does it say that all stone throwers must be without sin. If that's the case, God might as well have saved himself the trouble of making those laws. No, this was a Special Case that can't be applied across the board. …..RVM45

Though this comment was 4 years ago, I’ll have to comment what you said about the scenario with the woman. In context, the Pharisees came to Jesus with the law of Moses in mind, and bear in mind that this illustration was not only about nobody really having the right to point fingers, but it’s about Jesus whom actually did have the right to throw a stone as He was without sin, and Him saying after everyone left “neither do _I_ condemn you”. This is relevant to who Jesus is, and who Jesus is is relevant to anyone who accepts Him, and this is definitely more than just a special occasion and a one time thing. This was not only to say “who are you to condemn”, but to bring revelation about Himself. If anyone is interested in reading, here’s John 8: 3-11; 3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst 4 they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 5 Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” 6 This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. 9 But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 10 Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”]]

One of my favorite quotes is by Theodre Roosevelt. It is known today as his "The Man in the Arena" quote taken from a speech he gave, 'Citizen in a Republic' in the Sorbonne, Paris, France, on April 23, 1910. Dave Canterbury epitomizes the very essence of that quote. While, on the other hand, those who reactively condemn Dave, are those "cold and timid souls" forever immoraltalized in the end of that quote. Those types of critics, do not count!

I don’t watch those survival reality shows, mostly because every three seconds, I’d be having someone file a FOIA on prospective phonies. For example, there’s David Canterbury who left, Discovery Channel’s “Dual Survival” years a go. He claimed to be a a sniper, airborne, and a “scout”, whatever he thinks that is. Here’s his resume`.Turns out, he was an MP, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but a 2-week Army Special Reaction Team sniper course at Fort McClellan, is not Sniper School at Fort Benning. His assignments were as an MP in Korea and Fort Carson, which means he arrested grunts out after curfew (in Korea) and wrote tickets for California stops at stop signs (at Ft Carson). And, oh yeah, no basic airborne school. It appears that he was let go from the show because of the lies.sorry this is stolen valor

Well said. Scripture is truth. I have to say when the information about Dave first came out I was VERY upset with him and did voice my opinion on what he/they (the show) did. Being an Army combat veteran of Iraq, and very sensitive to the whole stolen valor issue I admit I did leave some heartfelt comments about Dave and what I thought at that time about him. Nothing nasty or gratuitous mind you, just a "from the heart" outpouring of profound letdown. Since that time, Dave of course has apologized and I of course accepted it as genuine which I believe it was and is and I forgave him personally. I have watched Dave for years and will continue to do so as I believe as you do that he has incredible information and skill to share and is one of the good guys on KZfaq. I honestly believe that whatever showed up in the "resume" was most likely something Dave was pressured into including by the producers of that show. It's Hollywood after all, full of possibly the worst people on Earth, no surprise there. Why did he accept it? Well, TO FEED HIS FAMILY and make their lives better. Did he make a mistake, YUP! Did he do it for the right reasons? You bet! Forgiving him and moving on is a personal choice and I am not afraid to say that I have. Do I expect everyone to? Nope. Especially the TROLLS, but that is what a TROLL does. They gain self worth by denigrating others. Their lives are SO PATHETIC that all they seem to have left is hate. Well, good luck with that.

unfortunately I was only able to get as far in your reply as " Dave of course...." But I do understand the concept of Stolen Valor. Point is, a lie is a lie is a lie and there's no getting around that. What he did fess up to it and did not make any excuses other than what he was trying to accomplish by doing what he did. How many of us have lied? All of us. And how many times have we lied? uncountable. I am definitely a believer in Christ and I am also a long haul truck driver. If you only knew how we have to get around all of the regulations in order to try and make a buck. It's crazy! But still, a lie is a lie is a lie. Thank God for grace! I owe some people an apology and since what I have to apologize for happened in association with the first video in the series that is in the center of this, I suppose this is as good a place as any to do it. I made a comment on the first video in which I stated some opinion that was clearly not praise, but it was not stated as fact. I was clearly my opinion. Later, when I saw all of the stolen valor type comments I did not like the feeling I got from them. Quite honestly, I had forgotten about that whole thing concerning the TV show and my comments had absolutely nothing to do with Duel Survival; in fact, I thought Dave showed great restraint where the hippie was concerned as his ridiculous practices put them in a tight spot more than once.. Again, I was uncomfortable with the direction the comments were going because, if there is a way that I am judgmental, it is being judgmental about people being judgmental. I felt that my opinions could be taken as piling on, but wasn't quite sure how to handle it. In the end, I decided to delete my post. Since this was the first time I had ever deleted a post, I was unaware that doing so would also delete all of the replies as well. So, if you were one of those who replied to me or commented on my comment, in a positive way or a negative way, I apologize for deleting what you wrote. I am very sorry, but hope you will understand that I had no idea that would happen.

He’s probably one of the most dedicated people to what he does. He lives the life he shows. I knew him around this time and he was always down to earth and never all about himself. If you met him and didn’t know who he was you would think he was just another guy that loves what he is doing and he shares it all the time. Never takes about himself and always shares the knowledge he has. He had well over 500 online videos on the wilderness outfitters well before dual survival. All awesome content. He made a mistake and he owned it publicly and to this day he still pays a price. When most people would have tucked their tail and faded from the spot light he chose to hunker down with his family and start again from scratch. He has had considerable success since then. How do I quantify his success. He’s able to provide for his family and continue to live a life from day to day doing what he loves. I️ got to meet him several times and really got to know him. When you meet him he is exactly what you see. Almost every person that’s gas attacked him has never actually had any interaction with him. But if you hear it on FB or yt it’s gotta be true. When I have confronted people and asked if they have personally met him the answer is almost always no and I ask how can you have any right to judge him. They almost always back right off. Too bad people not only judge people beyond how they judge themselves but they judge people without actually taking to the person they are making accusations about. A sad thing.

Having worked with drug addicts, prostitutes, and even made some bad choices myself, I am quick to forgive. After all who wants to be held down? Build people up, and let their lesson be something to learn from. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. And Matthew 7 and Luke 6 have verses that speak about how we should do as we wish that others would do to us, do so to them. It's way to easy to point out someone else's errors, however bad. But as a Christian I strive to build people up, and in doing so help them to be all the Lord would have them be. Sure appreciate that my friends and family have done this with me.

@@andrewwilson9979 he was in military. He lied about the details in order to get the job. Pretty simple from where I stand...and you say " he only apologize d because he got caught." Well, why the hell would he apologize otherwise? Just think about it. He did way less wrong by lying about details than what most ppl have done in the last month of their life. Ppl should think about that before attacking ppl you have never even MET!!

@@billflowers1785 That's whataboutism, which is a fallacious attempt to dismiss concrete wrongdoing by one party by comparing them to theoretical wrongdoings outside the realm of the discussion. It does nothing but affirm the original party has no defense, and is effectively the same as a straw man.

Reruns of all DS shows are almost continually shown on Cable TV years later. The shows with Dave and Cody are without question the best, and a big part of that is Dave’s skill. He fudged his military background to the producers that hired him (not really that much, actually), like 99% of us do, and integrity does matter, but his honesty about it is what set him apart, shows he is a man of honor. His skills of course are unquestioned.

Dave is an amazing outdoorsman, survivalist, and teacher. We all have so much to gain from his knowledge and experience and I’m grateful he puts it out there for us. It was definitely the shows loss in letting him go.

you said you learn alot from watching a man's videos, well let me tell you something mister.. I've watched quite a bit of Davids videos, and I've watched quite a bit of your videos, and for you to get on here and defend that man, through his faults, well that's shows the world just what type of man you really are.. the kind we all need to be. forgiving, and understanding. open and honest. . I watch your videos and Davids videos and I think to myself, I would love to spend time with both of you guys.. you both ha e so much information to share, and to share it publicly, for free, that makes it even better. . I wanted to start this comment out by sounding like I was one of the nimrods who have no shame, those who cast the judgement, but that's just not me.. keep up the work wranglestar. I can't say that I'm a subscriber, I don't get much time to watch you guys due to my own work, but when I get that chance, it's either david or yourself that I'm searching. . thank you both!!!

You say "judge not...", but then you judge others based solely on their KZfaq comments.
@JohnSmith-vb6jx4 жыл бұрын
He didn't say "judge not", he said "the standard you judge by is the standard by which you shall be judged". What you are thinking of is, "judge not less you be judged", there is a difference. Both are pretty intimidating. We need to judge others and ourselves to determine their, and our, character. But we need to consider our own flaws before we condemn. Often times if we do, we discover the benefits of mercy and forgiveness. Judge others, but consider your worst flaws before you attack their character. And don't just judge their failures alone, judge the sum total of their conduct apart from their failures.

Love WRANGLESTAR and Dave Canterbury videos. I learned a lot from Y'ALL. I've shopped at his Pathfinder Store several times. I like Reallybigmonkey1, Steponesurvival, Nutinfancy , Our Wyoming Life, Stoney Ridge Farmer and many others. It's all about character and quality. We're all just sinners that need to learn to love each other.

I'm three years behind on seeing this video but I'm glad it exists. I've watched hours of David's KZfaq videos and learned an unmeasurable about from both his channel and Cody's (wranglerstar). People make mistakes, but those who apologize and own up to it are stand-up guys. David has a lot to offer on KZfaq and it's a shame people can't forgive and move on.

I know his loss of contract hit him hard and I feel for him but I know in my mind he will continue to do good for others to learn from his great knowllage and skills. like you have your own way of teaching and so does David. Agreed. Thanks for posting this. I really like the Dual Survival shows and especially the ones with Dave & Cody, both different in their styles but both very knowledgeable and interesting to learn from. Both great people & good TV. I practice bushcraft & survival in England where we generally get warm rain in the summer and cold rain in the winter with varying degrees of rain throughout the rest of the year and to be honest it’s highly unlikely that I’ll be in the Atacama one week and the Florida Everglades the next. We do have a poisonous snake in England called an adder but it’s not much to get excited about, I think Dave Canterbury would make short work of an adder. It wouldn’t be the adder that he’d have to worry about but I’d bet that Dave & Cody would struggle the relentless rain.
