The traditions of hip hop music production go all the way back to the 1970s, but the internet era changed that completely with the concept of 'type beats'. VSTs, DAWs, and cheap hardware gave lesser known producers a chance to make money and it ended up being a goldrush for many. Similar to other trends like Late Night TV or disco music, type beats have slowly left the cultural mainstream.

Love this type of content, the stuff that just has no effective documentation at all but is very apparent

tbh type beats will never die because even if less ppl are using them there are always ppl that are gonna make them depending on the new trending genre or artist and due to the producer community growing bigger there are lots of new producer that still watch or listen to those contents

Really good video! though at 6:20 I honestly I dont even think most producers paid for the software either, I'd guess most beat producers around that time (and even some to this day) are using cracked software. Even big name producers like Carnage got caught using cracked software in a video he did showing his beat making process lmao

I think with how most artists nowadays even have the 'produced by' in the video title on youtube, there is still a lot of value in having produced a song that blows up, sure you only get the couple hundred bucks for this one but your name is out there, imo this opened the closed producer circle up a bit - sure it's still a lot of work (and luck) to get famous as a producer but as a total nobody on the internet, without any prior connections, it's at least possible!

I don't know I'm still doing snippets for Hoppers to sample. I kinda have a niche so I may be the exception.

this is why the New York drill scene adopted UK drill production styles versus that of Chicago. ~2015, if you searched for "drill beat" on KZfaq, almost all the results were British drill producers who were uploading 'type beats'. I'm not convinced it's a dying concept though

I lost my interest in HipHop even before 2000...and that will not change. As a teenager I really liked the stuff coming out until late 90ies...and then everything changed...

I always hated this type beat bullshit. Create your own music. Cash grabs spoil your character.

What I believe has come to an end, is the popularity of x hiphop artist type beat. But everyday there are new genres and artists from said genres coming out of everywhere [thanks significantly to the proliferation of global internet infrastructure]. The hayday of Hiphop type beats is over for sure and I believe that it's because of saturation. You can win some thousands of dollars if you make type beats of an up and coming rapper or singer who then proceeds to blow up ei. niche down. But generally, most of hiphops significant, relevant and popular artists type beats, have been uploaded to KZfaq, in the 1000s. Would you upload a 2pac type beat today?, why?(thought exercise) But if tomorrow a new genre called plastic fence appears and surpasses the popularity of Hiphop music(the way hiphop did rock), people will upload type beats of the most significant, relevant and popular artists who create plastic fence music. To say type beats as a whole are coming to an end would be to say TV shows are coming to an end when really what you mean is 20 minute, 3 ad break, cable network television shows are less preferred than an hour of scrolling through 100 Tiktok videos. Simply put, same sh*t, different rectum. Different day.

I've been making beats for like 10 years and hardly ever labeled my beats as "type beats," because I don't have any rapper in mind. Make beats that you like only

type beats are cancer. type beats have nothing to do with making beats or with being a musician. it's purely an attempt at making money with sound. a type beat maker doesn't care about putting emotion into music. a type beat maker only cares about impressing rappers so that they spend some money. a type beat maker also doesn't care about finding their own style. in fact if they found their own style they'd try to surpress it in order to make better type beats. thus type beats are trash and everything that destroys type beat culture is welcome. gladly artificial intelligence is progressing rapidly nowadays with more and more software being able to replicate the most basic ideas of certain sounds, styles and genres. it's only a matter of time and these AIs are good enough to produce type beats and that will be a moment of glory, because it will put all the type beat makers out of business. they have to scam people in other ways then, or search for an entirely different job that is hopefully more noble. and if they continue making music they can finally explore their own styles because trying to surpress it is not profitable anymore anyway.

type beats changed my life, jus cus youve created for years n never saw success dont mean its bad. music is subjective anyways so calling anything esp as broad as "type beats" trash ruins your waawaa paragraph u wrote and i halfway read.

@@04Baby i'm sure you are more financially successful than me with your type beats. but your work is replacable, on thus your business not scalable. If AI doesn't take your job, some other random type beat-makers do. you don't even have to care about the music like i do to see that it's not a good idea to keep on making type beats. you can look at it purely from a business pov and still come to the same conclusion

@@Beatsbasteln "type beat" is just the marketing bro. ur dont nothing different than anyone else apart from not naming it type beat
@Beatsbasteln
@Beatsbasteln Жыл бұрын
@@sergekoffibeats you say that. but whenever i go to the channels of those who make type beats it's just generic trap bangers. there are so many genres and styles in this world, so many intricate moods and atmospheres. yet the type beat makers are all exclusively go for "it's fire bro". because they genuinly like that style most, some would say. but i think it was just most profitable so far
