12:10 - I have to disagree here. As long as someone is at least at maintenance, I wouldn't consider undershooting calories a hindrance to a bulk. Slow and steady wins the race. If you go a few weeks and realize that you haven't gained weight and bump calories by another 100 kcal/day then repeat, you'll bulk in a far leaner manner and not have to cut as often. Cutting is far more damaging than just the amount of muscle lost during its duration--it stops strength momentum and training predictability. Preventing yourself from getting too fat in the first place will set yourself up for maingaining long term.

@@JDirty-w-tha-30 If someone's maintenance is 2500 kcal then a 10% surplus is 250 kcal. That is 26 lbs/year. No way you can gain that much muscle in a year so you'd end up getting fat. That is why a surplus closer to 100 kcal or less makes more sense, where you could gain closer to 10 lbs/year and avoid having to cut.

I thought hmb studies were mixed? Some of the newer studies showing positive results were with the free acid form of hmb.
