@Eric Anonymous I strongly disagree. We a re talking about property, lots of money that you can loose in case of a divorce. Preparing for a possible future event which has about 50% chance of occurring is a step a nut job would not take. Bill gates signed a prenuptial Agreement with Melinda before they got married.

Our first year of marriage was pretty contentious as we both were learning to live with one another. She packed a bag and went home to her mother a number of times declaring she could not live with me. Her mother, bless her heart, would not let her in the door. She told her daughter 'You've made your choice, now you need to return and work it out with him.' And by & by we did. That was 49years ago & we are still together. !

@@yoyonevertheless7226 Understood. The RO serves a few functions, in my opinion... to get you some sane distance from the aggressor. It pauses the madness and the fear that they will just show up in your life and cause more chaos. The RO also shows you're done messing around! Many of us men find ourself down some madhouse tunnel we've been holding off for years and are just treading water day to day hoping it will get better. At this point it's critical. Five years is a long time and should give some breathing room to gain a sober, clear game plan to navigate forward. Men, be safe!

These are solid tips especially before you actually get to court. I found that once you get to court and you are fighting for child custody... Judges usually favor the mother And prefer the father to be a child support atm machine. If you want any intelligent thought in that courtroom about the future of your children... You have to bring in that intelligent thought yourself. Do not assume the judge can create intelligent solutions for you and your children.

I just want to live in a house where I’m not cleaning all the time ! My spouse started an animal rescue and it’s forced on me, cleaning behind animals , multiple in home and I’m sick of it… he asks me about it as if he’s asking permission , I say no and yet he brings another animal in the house …. If I help out with anything , it becomes “my job” …. I’m over it. All his friends see it…. They look at me like , how do you put up with this? I feel like such a coward , have put up with “I make all the money ,so I can do what I want with our home I pay “the majority “ of the bills …. I pay 20% of household bills. I’m listening to this to get another perspective. I don’t argue because when things get heated I have no where to go… my family has all deceased…. I’m at my wits end … since I want to leave I don’t want to have alimony or think it’s fair because I would be the one leaving … yet I don’t make quite enough to pay for solo living , not yet. So for now I’m stuck.

About the significance of letting go: take the age you will probably live for and subtract your current age. Now times 12. That is the number of months left in your viable life. Seeing the number of months you have left is sobering and focuses the mind. Everything in your past that troubled you is now forgotten and forward is your only interest.

I don’t agree with who filing first is having the upper hand- bottom line it come down to the rule for spousal and child supports. Be level head states what you want!! Remember anytime there a third party involved it harder to STOP so think twice before filing a divorce. It will cause lots of money to yourself even yourself unable to stop it due to the attorney bills up to the eyeballs. The attorney always win and everyone else lost. Children suffer the most!!

I like your motivation and the quality of your work I have not deal with you personally but just looking at the this particular video you know your $#-7 Last year in San Francisco I hire a family lawyer defend myself false allegations, temp R/O however I practically did all the work from my declaration to printing out the five packets and have them filed so really what my lawyer just did was just fill out the counter/summit return form. Email that to me, then I had to print out the five packets get them filed submit them, court day my lawyer showed up however the accuser never showed up. I would like to know do you do business in San Francisco or Sacramento area. Because my ex is intentionally maliciously keeping me from seeing my children. However from a point you just proved she's going to lie and say that I didn't spend any time with my children when I do try and want to.

#2 is difficult if you are low income during COVID. If you are receiving free legal aid (i.e., consultation, not representation) and are the respondent, and your petitioning spouse has resources and a paid attorney, you are likely going to be responding to a high number of disgraceful and scurrilous allegations, much like you would see in a SLAPP suit. Don’t let the allegations overwhelm your emotions. Make an ordered list of these allegations, with bullet points of your side, then gather evidence to disprove them. You might start to see that these allegations are more quantity, rather than quality. I struggled with this, when I was painted as a volatile, impulsive, brain-damaged, mentally-ill, child-neglecting, angry-man; however, I knew different, and so did others. I still remained open to the fact that I may fall short in some areas, and even have blind spots, and began to work on those areas with a therapist. If you can show the court that you are open to taking a look at the bad behaviors your spouse accuses you of exhibiting, and are proactive about addressing them, then you have shown that you are human, that you care about your spouses concerns, even if they are exaggerated or untrue. My wife never once said to me that I was any of those things I listed in the beginning of this paragraph until I read about it in her declarations. The cognitive dissonance I felt from that turned me into an emotional puddle of sad on the one hand, and then opposite of that on the other. Don’t try to talk to her about any of those feelings, even if you are trying to demonstrate to her positive changes, because they will just be used against you.
