Recorded on June 5th, 1970. Decent quality bootleg. Not the full concert, unfortunately ('someday soon' missing - available elsewhere though), but still a cool document of the band. come on out from behind that false mustache, Hitler, i know you're in there...
1 - Hitler (Poem)
2 - Roadhouse Blues
3 - Backdoor Man
4 - When The Music's Over
5 - Train Jam I (incl. People Get Ready / Baby Please Don't Go)
6 - Train Jam II (incl. Mystery Train / Crossroads)
7 - Five To One
8 - Break On Through

The wonderful beauty of Jim Morrison was that he was no corporate robot. Every performance was different depending on his state of mind, level of intoxication, and energy in the crowd. His performances were totally in the moment. If you want the business side of The Doors listen to the studio recordings. If you want magic and pure mojo healing listen to The Doors live.

Every The Doors fan should know that this was sadly a recorded version of Jim spiraling down and Ray, John & Robbie no longer being able to control him. Drunk and not being able to perform he played 9 songs in about 1 hour 45 minutes for 4,000 people in a 14,000 capacity Coliseum. I loveThe Doors, been a huge fan since ever. But this was not their finest moment.

Most live recordings from bands these days all pretty much sound the same - great recreations of their songs from concert to concert and live recording to live recording (EX: YES, who I love). And being at a Doors concert at the time might have been an uneven experience, BUT listening now to all their live recordings, there's always surprises from one concert to the next. I love it!

"What have they done to the earth? What have they done to our fair sister: ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her......" Those lyrics more relevant today than they were when Morrison wrote them. An artist, a poet, a shaman whose medium of expression rose out of rock music and transformed rock music. The Doors were authentic, and there's been very, very little of that in rock .

I was at this concert-- don't remember much other than being annoyed that the Doors seemed not to have the magic they once possessed. The Coliseum (today's Key Arena) was half empty. The Doors fans were falling away. Not evidenced on this recording, but Morrison was screwing around so much, taking so much time between songs and insulting fans, that the plug was finally pulled on them and the lights came up-- music over.

Jim Morrison The Tragic Hero of Free Expression, and at 1:24 in, the Puritan Traitor in a harrumphing threat: "Remember Miami!" but the crowd swells to what makes America great and tells the Moralists and Hecklers to "Shut Up!" on Train I Ride, and during Music's Over, a vast, sublime experiment where Jimbo channels Dionysus. Awwwww Yeahhhhhhh. Hail Jimbo!

If this are all the same Seattle show, was Ray using a two-organ rig at some point? The latter half sounds way more like a Vox Continetal than a Gibson G-101/Kalamazoo. Is that just a really Vox setting on the Gibson? The hard cut between Music's Over and Train makes me wonda.

I have the Bootleg CD with "Someday Soon" and it's a shame it's not here, because it is really kind of gut-wrenching hearing Jim singing so painfully about his woes when it was so close to his actual passing. On a "side note" about This recording, it seems flipped as far the Stereo, because Ray was practically always on the Left Side of the audience view, and Robby was usually on the Right Side, Stereo-wise.

I don't think Morrison wore leather pants much after 68- even late 68 he wasn't wearing them to shows ( except the Smothers Brothers show). In 69 he did wear a brown pair to Miami, but not after that, except during the Hwy shoot, the Bronson cave photos with Pam ( at the same time he was shooting Hwy), and during the LA Woman sessions. But other than Miami, I don't think he wore the leathers to shows after late 68.

I may be the only one but I like the long feedback freakout. That show was so tense you can sense it even 50 years later on tape (being there must have been quite something). Cold obnoxious crowd, even though Jim was wasted. 25:22 : Jim sounds like Yoko Ono. lol

@@dummytree Nothing wrong with changing the song to sound more eerie. You have to love Jim's sound effects! To bad if the fans want the same mundane version! Let's take a ride on Morrison's space ship.

I like this version, and the Doors at their worst are still better than most bands at their best.

Holding a band and an audience hostage with unnecessary amounts of microphone feedback is selfish and makes Morrison seem like an amateur. Love the Doors but you're not always an artist when you're also an asshole.
