Movies either are either lies, or truth. It depends on the producer. And you have to have strong sense to decipher the difference. In most cases, they're looking to appease the common public to make $$$$. So in most cases, they're lies. Unless you watch the oldies. They thrived on breaking the societal barriers, along with real acting, and not just simulations of "acting". Guns guns sex, and more guns guns and sex.. blah!

Jim had a natural knack for rhythm and vocal pitch. No other way to explain how he was able to sing so well despite having no formal musical training. To me, that just means that he truly loved music. Everyone "listens" or "hears" music but not everyone truly loves it.

And his 'schtick' was the origin story he laid down later in 'Dawns Highway' ...he felt like and Ray often remarked that he was like the "musical shaman" of the group...and later became the inspiration for that story which was based on a supposed car accident he witnessed as a young boy recalled in Dawns Highway "indians scattered on dawns highway bleeding"...im sure the events over the years in conjunction with his various 'chemical inspirations' probably took the story on a life of its own in his brilliant mind..but the story goes that he felt like somehow the spirit of the Indian entered him and thats what gave him the shamanistic trance like stage presence....like I said probably exaggerated by his various 'chemical inspirations' but he put everything he had into this persona and its typical of Jim to resond with "why?" When the producer said "dont blow your voice" he felt it was always necessary to give people his all because he didnt believe he had a great voice and felt that since all the people came out to see them that the least he could do was give everything to his performance....that can only work for so long if you dont have a way to replenish especially as an artist, who like a sponge absorbs everything around them, and unfortunately his trip to paris was just far too late

This great song is a true musical masterpiece which has stood the test of time and will be be loved and cherished for eternity. The sentiment and message in this song rings true today more now than ever, we can all learn from the past. You can't change the past, it's a canceled check. You can't change the future because you don't know what's gonna happen. The maximum point of impact in your life is now! That's exactly what Jim was singing about on this track, they didn't call him the lizard king for nothing. Keep on rocking everybody🍄🦎👑

Jim always made it ok to realize that music can cast spells, conjure ancestors and celebrate, tribute the spirit, explore more to reality that the familiar, while standing steady aboard your ship navigating through it, getting your info through it, loving it. When you deal in this kind of trade, this kind of craft, like many of the great bands do, there's no point seriously arguing over who was the best, etc. At this level: mission accomplished my friends, the stage certainly has been set.

I think what happened with Morrison is what happens to a lot of musicians who are put front and center in the spotlight, they turn to booze and drugs to overcome stage fright and when you are doing shows all the time it can quickly spiral out of control. For example I know when the Doors where first starting out Jim wouldn't face the audience out of fear, he would turn his back, so right there that tells me he had the incentive to get drunk or wasted just to get the guts to face the audience.

Just Robby and John are still alive as of this moment. Jim joined the 27 Club in 1971 and Ray Manzarek passed on ten years ago. The Doors were ahead of their time and stood their ground against The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Who, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and so on during the mid to late 1960s. Jim had bravado, virility, swagger, machismo and rawness in his voice.

I played classical guitar for 40 years after hearing the intro on Spanish Caravan. I'm not sure if Robbie played the acoustic start. Robbie was very CREATIVE, rather than fast & flashy. I've always been awestruck by all four geniuses. Morrison sent me on an insane journey through incredible literature & poetry i.e. Nietzsche, NOB Love's Body & Ferenczi's Thalassa. Can one tie Jim to Norman O. Brown, Ferenczi, Jeff Epstein as child abduction/torture provider, Mossad and MKULTRA? I suspect so. Read this wiki bio on Ferenczi, there are parallels. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A1ndor_Ferenczi

The band members told him directly he was ruining his health with alcohol, and he admitted he knew it. But he sought no help---maybe too proud to seek it. Of course, back in the late 60s and early 70s these alcohol treatment programs didn't exist like today. Fifty years ago, the alcoholic often had to check into a state/county hospital or such which might also serve as the psychiatric center (the nut house). There was a stigma attached. Nevertheless, Morrison self destructed over a five year span. Creative geniuses often do, although self destruction is not a prerequisite.

I love this footage of The Doors and I never thought how talented they really were in the studio and Jim Morrison was completely different than any frontman ever in rock history and I think it's just a honor to be a Long time Doors fan after my late dad did in his hey day and every night I was thinking about him because he was a fan before me because I know so

I have always liked the doors music since I was a child. At a carnival I once heard a song that blew my mind, and I knew it had to be the doors. Never forgot it. Then in high school I started becoming a doors fan. Expressing my admiration for the doors my causin told me that they are coming out with a movie about them. I was psyched. I am a musician in a very talented band. But they aren't doors fans! WTF!!!!

It is the Jim growl and scream...not Kurt Cobain's. I am not a fan of Kurt, but, he would be the one imitating Jim, not the other way around.

Guess everyone has to die sometime..but today Ray's passing made me so sad..the consolation? knowing i was able to listen to The Doors when nobody would listen to me. I found strength in Jim's confidence, Ray's go for it attitude and brilliant musicianship..the world is such a lesser place without you Ray. time to kick back and join The Soft Parade

That's the price they had to pay, when working with true genius. So funny, though! Jim was just awesome! I also have to say that John Densmore was the only guy that could play drums, for that band. And, oh yeah, I love the ending!
