My peugeot 308 sw has had this issue for som time but today it just took it up a notch and would not stop, this alarm is so annoying to listen to and apparently it is a very common problem.
How to fix:
Pull the fabric tabs on the back seats to fold them then on the rear right on every seat is a lever to fold it forward out of the way. Pull up the carpet underneath the seats and there you should see a long black plastic strip with a wire going into it, remove the plug(easier to do if you detach the strip) put the plug out of the way. Put the carpet back and put the seats back.......... Done!
The cause of the problem:
Moisture.
Even tho your car might seem dry, moisture can still be trapped under the mat and then it gets on the black strip(seat sensor) it shorts it out thus Makin the system belive someone is sitting in the back seat.

Thank you! That sound was driving me insane. I was really glad to find it was a common problem - I had been thinking I'd have to pay lots of money to repair it. I also have the fuel filter problem you were talking about with other people: you mentioned your Dad improved that with fuel additives? Could you tell me what he used? I spent several hundred £ at my garage a year ago to try and improve that - not actually changing the filter but doing other stuff they said would help. But recently I've noticed the engine is fluctuating RPMs and when cold the RPMs will suddenly surge for a moment, like jump from 2k to 3k in a fraction of a second when I'm accelerating at around 30-40 mph in 3rd gear

my father had the diesel engine and the filter we where talking about was the particle filter in the exhaust, the additives makes the exhaust hotter thus burning the soot deposits in the filter. my Peugeot doesn't have an in-line fuel filter but it does have a permanent filter on the fuel pump armature in the gas tank, replacing the fuel filter ends up in replacing the fuel pump. when i had acceleration problems, i unplugged all the wiring connectors on the engine and sprayed them with contact cleaner for electronics that also dissolves corrosion and it helped until now, need to do it again and properly blow out the connectors with compressed air then put some sort of grease to prevent further moisture intrusion, sometimes there is great hesitation when accelerating but it has only been when there has been moist weather and then a sudden freeze. when i cold start the car the rpm is too high to creep around the parking lot in second gear but that only last for less than a minute before it calms down.

Happening to me too driver seat this car has been a never ending parade of glitches and design flaws. Wipers have basically 2 options 1 way too slow to wipe anything off 2 so fast it slams on the edges if the window

It's happening to me as well, in a Peugeot Expert from 2009, I've just driven 300 km with that hellish sound in my ear. I'm NEVER buying a french car again. NEVER EVER!

The diesel motor is good - until you need to replace the particle filter which costs more than the car is worth second hand.

What about the front seats? Just unplug under seat?
@alexandernevalainen

i guess that would work, i had problems with rear seat because the floor was moist and the sensor sits right on the floor.

in Sweden there is no need for seatbelt indicators when doing the yearly inspection, so unplug that shit, it is only for checking if everyone in the car has a seatbelt on.

That sound still haunting me !!!! Plus to add I have a 1.6 VTi sport, 800km I have to put 1lt of oil!!! French cars 🤬🤬
@alexandernevalainen
@alexandernevalainen Жыл бұрын
That is not good 1l per 800km is way to much, try a little thicker oil next oil change. Unplug all the seat sensors and the alarm should be gone, I presume it is not required for inspection anywhere.

@@alexandernevalainen thanks, it burning oil like crazy. Anywhere I bring to get it fix, everyone is saying no way… also I’m usin C2 5/30w for oil. What would you recommend?
@alexandernevalainen
@alexandernevalainen Жыл бұрын
@@TPc0 you can try 5w40 or 10w40 but make sure it is C2(what you have now) or whatever classification your car needs, where you live also plays a role as it does for me I can't put much thicker oil in my car because it becomes like grease when the temperatures reach below -25°C during the winter, but if you live where temperatures rarely go below -5°C you can put a lot thicker oil in the engine.
