The comment section of this video makes me feel so much less alone. I'm 26 and only noticed my hairloss last year. It has honestly brought down my overall happiness and am doing my best to avoid thinking about it. The worst is when im having a good day and then a youtube video goes into a Keeps sponsorship about male pattern baldness and I'm once again reminded about it... ugh. I didn't notice all the hairloss marketing until I put myself in that category. But i wont fall into it. My sex drive is already low enough I wont risk further loss of it with a drug. My girlfriend reassures me all the time that she either doesn't notice/or doesnt care if i lost my hair. But that doesn't make me feel better for some reason, I still feel like im losing my identity. And no other guys around me seem to talk about it, so i process this all by myself. I wish people were more open about their hairloss experience. Thank you for sharing yours. My husband started balding in his early 20s. He did a hair transplant in EU for about 5,000€ in 2014 for 3,500 follicles. After the surgery he did nothing… and although his hair implanted well, he kept losing the remaining hair. About 5 years later he did another transplant( again in the EU for 5,500€) but this time he started taking both finasteride and minoxidil after the surgery and oh boy did it make a difference! He’s currently taking a very low dose of finasteride 3 times per week and and 10 drops of 5mg minoxidil every night and after 1 year post-surgery his hair started looking amazing! He’s in his early 40s now and with the full head of hair he looks younger than he was looking when I first met him 15 years ago. Until this day he regrets not starting on finasteride & minoxidil earlier.

I wish this was available when I was in my twenties. Eventually took the leap and just shaved it for the better but I definitely considered most of what you discussed. Easy to maintain and actually more confident now that I don't have to worry about combing my hands through my hair every time the wind goes by. Great work!

Just a correction -you state you have lowered levels of testosterone but in fact you have higher levels. You said it yourself - inhibition of 5 alpha reductase inhibits conversion thus reducing DHT.

I started to go bald at 18, lost my confidence at 19. I remember when I was rinsing my face and hair in the bathroom sink and the hair just started to fall off. Literal chunks where coming off when I ran my fingers through it. You’ll never understand how important hair is unless you’ve lost it. I loved styling my hair and never had a hat on, but as my hair changed so did my attitude towards hats. Now I wear them everywhere. I have to because I genuinely feel disgusted when looking in the mirror. I’ve already lost so much of my life to this. I’m already 24 and feel like my life is just sliding by while I just keep hiding my embarrassment and stay away from people. Hopefully one day I can afford to go to surgery and get my life back.

I love that you shared you own personal journey along with what business facts you managed to find. I’m a hairstylist and while I mainly specialize in women’s hair extensions, currently, my partner suffers from male pattern baldness and I would love to get into the male hair pieces side, even if I’m only doing it for him. From my side, it’s also incredibly difficult to discover reputable hair companies who sell quality pieces and provide the quality education to go with them. As much as I love my career, it’s a really frustrating industry to work in sometimes. I feel like 90% of what I’ve learned in my 7 years in the industry has mainly been trial and error on my own part so I’m really happy to see others making content concerning my industry!

I'm 25 now and I've been balding hard myself since the past 3-4 years. Tbh it was pretty bad when it started, just sitting at a desk and brushing through my hair softly left like 25+ hairs falling down to my desk, which was quite unsettling, having my "youth" leave me so early. Even going so far as shaving my head like 1 year into the whole thing, but I didn't wanna keep it cause of my egg shaped head and the effort repeating the shaving every 2-4 weeks lol. Now since I lost most of my hair on the forehead, it's actually not so unsettling anymore, brushing through my hair doesn't make A LOT fall out anymore since there's just not much left to fall out.. It was actually much more scary to me to lose my hair than just not having hair. I've been to the dermatologist couple years back as well and she recommended me some minoxidil or finasterid stuff, as a student I wasn't really able/willing to afford it for 80 or something euro and went for the shave instead, I thought there was more value in learning to live with my biology instead of shelling out money to fix what I've been born with in the gene lottery. It also wasn't quite appealing to me that I'd have to apply it daily for ever basicly.. As I was looking at pictures of my (20 years) older brother and my father, I've actually discovered the exact same balding pattern. Even on photos where my brother was 20ish years old, he had a pretty bald forehead already which kinda gave me some comfort. I think most people are not too bothered if they see a baldy, it's much more that it makes yourself insecure because of your own self image. To conclude of course I'd prefer having my full hair from my teenage years back, I've always been rocking a long curly hair style, but it is what it is now. Ideologicly, I'm not too much of a supporter of cosmetic surgery, I wouldn't wanna undergo surgery unless it is a medical necessity. Same counts for my teeth, I should've gotten braces as a younger but now it's just kinda whatever, as long as I don't get bad/dirty teeth because of it or severe pain due to them pushing into each other, I'm just gonna live with my naturally crooked teeth, I see it more of a trait of my family and well in nature not everything's perfectly symmetrical. Maybe after I finish university and earn multiple thousands a month, my view will change but for now, I'm just gonna live with how I am.

My geneline (dad and grandad from both parents), is one of the rare ones who start losing they're hair during their teens. My hair started thinning somewhere around 15-17. I thought I was a stoic since it didn't bother me for too long and just shaved my head at 19 but I was wrong. I'm 22 now, growing out my hair and my top hair that I never cut for a year and a half is still shorter and thinner than the rest. It looks somewhere around stage 3-4. The feeling and damage to your self-confidence sucks big time.

I really appreciate you making this video and sharing your experiences. I honestly came into this thinking you were going to reveal a bunch of corruption in the industry, but ended up sticking around until the very end. Though it wasn't the content I was looking for, I feel enlightened that, as a woman who will never have to experience this, I now have a much better understanding of what it's like for guys who are balding. I never thought much about it and it's heartbreaking and genuinely terrifying to think about inevitably losing your hair through no fault of your own, especially if you love your hair. In my late 20's I started noticing more hair in my hands than usual after washing my hair, and a slightly receding hairline. I'm almost 30 now and it hasn't gotten that much worse; could just be some natural recession that can be expected as you enter your 30's, but I decided that I'm not going to worry about it. It's natural, it happens to most of us. If it gets to 'that' point I'd rather just wholesale shave it off than be reliant on medications or do surgeries.

there's new findings you not mention in this comprehensive video. surprisingly some muscle tension on our forehead is responsible for hair growth. it's accidentally found when people taking some botox on forehead regain his hairlines. it's ongoing research and you can find reputable source / paper for it.

Thanks for making this video. Hit way too close to home for me. I think I first noticed hair loss when I was 19 so it must have started when I was 18. I went into pretty deep depression after realizing what was going on. I couldn't leave the house without a hat and would often decline invitations to a lot of events. I got on fin almost immediately after and it's definitely helped slow the hair loss down. Almost a decade later, I can still pull off the look of someone with a full head of hair (with the help of concealers) but I know that won't last either. That's the thing with hair loss and its treatments. No matter how much money you spend or how skilled your surgeon is, you're really only buying time.

My brother began balding very quickly around the time he was 15-16 and it really affected him mentally. Plus our dad had a full head of hair so he couldn't really relate. Our mom gave us cursed hair genes ig 💀

Thank you for this very personal video. I found it really interesting to see what options you picked and why. My hair loss started with 25. At the time I also researched extensively what options I had to prevent balding. I came across the same methods that you mentioned here in this video. I didn't want to become "dependent" on medication at that young age and was also afraid of the side effects. At the end, I chose to live with the hair loss and deal with it. I am 34 now and do not regret my decision. If anything, it has made me more confident. This comment section feels like some kind of support group ;D

I have a friend with severe alopecia he just shaved his head bald. Once I knew he was coming into town to kick it with me I did too just so he can feel comfortable. He took his hat off when he saw me and never put it back on.

28 here, and although I actually have a full hea dof hair, it's very thin at the top and I needed to have it quite long in order to look decent. Started shaving at 26, and I can say it's the best decision of my life. From looking like a decent guy to a badass did help, but I quickly tried to deal with the insecurity of hair loss. Plus, it allows me to have an extravagant collection of hats and caps to wear as accesories. And to top it all, my close friends and family members all tell me I'm a bit more outgoing and chill after shaving my head! Background: I started balding at 19.. very slow and gradual balding.

There'll unfortunately never be a cure to balding even if one is found because the hair loss industry is so lucrative and makes so much money. They'd literally choose to instead take advantage of men's insecurities and desperation to extort them for money instead of actually finding a universal and permanent solution.

A lot of stuff in this video is true but I have to digress. Hair loss is not the same as balding. I've gone to almost 3 clinics that claimed that I had male patterned baldness (at the ripe age of 18). I've been shedding hair massively and also started forming a spot at the back of my head (now I'm in my mid twenties). Finasteride and Minoxidil definitely showed really good results, but I wasn't ready to sacrifice my testosterone and energy levels for the sake of maintaining my hair, just didn't seem right. After a lot of reading and going through several papers and stories online, I found out that I never actually had patterned baldness but just a case of severe telogen effluvium. Please remember that not all hair loss is balding. Clinics tend to sell you that narrative even if your condition is different to put you on life long meds or surgery. I was genuinely able to grow my hair after eliminating stress from my life (including not worrying about hair), sleeping well and eating well, I shampoo only once a month after my haircut(because shampoos have done me more harm than good), but ofc take a warm shower daily. I also massage my scalp very lightly to get the blood flowing. One of the main reasons I felt I wasn't balding was because there hasn't been a genetic history of balding in my family. Plus I never had the 'typical' receding hairline - sure my hairline was receding, but it felt like my hair was fragile (like just pulling on it would make it fall) . That felt like the core issue. Before you conclude that you're balding, make sure you educate yourself first on the types of hair loss that's possible. It's very easy to be confused/convinced. Next, set things that are in your control right - diet(massive emphasis on this), sleep, stress and hair products. Make sure you don't have any infections or auto immune disorders, severe dandruff can also lead to massive hair loss. And after you've done all this, I'd suggest trying Minoxidil first. If that works well then you're definitely one of the luckier people and it could potentially halt your condition. If all this fails, then think of surgery or just shaving. Definitely not worth trying the finasteride. And if you do decided to let nature have its way, then that's also completely fine, there's courage in that. Your value isn't in your hair, it's probably just time to accept that and move on. I hope this helps anyone who's reading.

You didn’t mention Dutasterids which is essentially a slightly stronger version of finasteride. Ashton Kutcher has spoken candidly about using it to stop his hair loss but no longer uses it as he wanted to start a family and be off this medication. He has also added that now that he is in his 40’s, he doesn’t see hair loss as, as much of big of a deal than when he was in his 20’s.

22, Had a receding hairline since I was 18 and looking back at my habits did attribute to my baldness because of the bad stuff that they put on products which can destroy your hair follicles. My family typically have decent genes but no one was bald or had a receding hairline at a young age and now I am thinking I will be the first one but at the same time I doubt it since my grandfather still had hair and a receding hairline obv. For a lot of dudes like me that have a receding hairline kind of impacts in our dating options in the market which is why we want to take fynestdile to grow our lost hair or have a transplant in order to look more attractive and confident. I got my hair transplant done in China and my friend did his in HK. We had pretty great results. It was about 5K USD, but due to China's current situation I guess I wouldn't recommend it. Still, my hairline looks better than it did when I was 18.

Great video! I would just like to add though that FUE is NOT more affordable. FUT is the more affordable procedure and takes less time since it's a strip of your scalp containing the grafts that is removed, taking less time as opposed to the more labor intensive and hence more expensive FUE method.

I started experiencing hair loss in my mid 20s and have been using minoxidil ever since. The generic minoxidil is an affordable OTC treatment, that you can start right away when you're not 100% ready for finasterid or surgery. It may not work for everyone but it's better than debating between the more invasive treatments while doing nothing and losing hair.

Happy for you! Oral minoxidil is becoming increasingly popular due to its convenience. FUT is sometimes the only option due to a person having less donor area. The advent of the trichophytic closure technique appears to have better results than older FUT closure techniques in terms of less scarring.

Its a really rough world out there, you don't know who to trust when everyone tries to profit from people's desperation

Man I'm really grateful I am happy being shaved. I was on keeps for a few months with no satisfactory results. Bought some clippers and got rid of it. I now spend significantly less on hair products, eliminated monthly haircut costs, showers are quicker, I can wear any hat I want, and I'm not stressed over it all. I look younger, stronger, more confident. Should've done this when I was 20.

My dermatologist asked me if my family has history of balding. And i told him that on my dad's side everyone has lush, healthy hair while on my mom's side most men are bald in their thirties. So he prescribed me minoxidil and told me to use it for a month (60 ml). No pills. Just this. And like magic, my hair started regrowing. Now i can see slow but steady growth of hair covering the same area i had back in college. I must also mention that I've been doing yoga, breathing exercises, sleeping early, etc. which could also be part of the reason why my hair is regrowing. But yeah.. luckily my hair loss was due to mostly external factors and unhealthy lifestyle. So it was fixed with simply minoxidil and positive changes in my lifestyle

Great video, very informative. Been having the same issue for a few years. I’m about to get an FUT procedure done next month. A few details: 1) Price range for US surgeon given is correct, mine will cost about $10k. FUE is more expensive (depending on the number of grafts needed) and is better for smaller amounts of hair loss, so it’s ideal for those looking to fill in gaps but not for substantial loss. 2) Foreign FUT procedures can be somewhat touch and go. I’ve heard of some people being lucky and some having issues. Personally I’d rather pay more for a board-certified plastic surgeon in America with a great track record, especially since it allows you to have more follow-ups with them to maximize results, which are often included in the surgery price (mine are). Glad you had luck in SK, sounds like the best international option. 3) I don’t recommend minoxidil. It barely helped me hold onto hair, and ultimately was a waste of time. Never used finasteride but have heard so many horror stories that it was never personally an option for me. I’d rather pay for a follow-up procedure later (if needed) than risk libido and mood changes. 4) If you do choose surgery, plan it far ahead and make sure to take time off work. You’ll be tired from having to sleep upright the first few days and groggy from surgery. Not looking forward to it personally, but it’s part of the healing process. If anyone has any questions, I’m happy to provide input, though I may be better positioned to answer them after my surgery in late September.

I have been blessed with ungodly amount of hair and no hair loss in sight. But also been cursed with double cowlicks and stubbornly straight hair, it require constant haircut for maintenance and lots of pomade to style it. But I'm extremely grateful for what it is. Still. I truly feels bad for men who experience early balding and forced to embrace it or forks some money for it. My friends have a serious loss of confidence after some severe sudden balding. I'm surprised you didn't mention anything about blood circulation using micro needling of sorts, I use a derminator or Ru55234 along with minoxidil and or finasteride. Thanks for sharing, I might have to think about this one day. It's only been a month since going into this process, it seems as my hair shedding has slowed with just the derminator, minoxidil and occasonaly RU when I'm not derminating my head.

At 23, I still had hair, only thinning a little. By the time I was 24-25, it was no point to not just shave it off. I was already used to shaving my head when my hair got too long, so losing my hair never bothered me that much. But, for some reason, the past few years, It has been bothering me.

I'm 19 and already at stage 2, and seeing everyone around me have such amazing hair and style it in so many different ways, as a guy who's also not blessed with looks much and is pretty skinny, this was a huge blow to my confidence. I feel very uncomfortable in my own skin, and I even lack the ability to grow a proper beard right now for some reason. I'm trying to cover up some of my lackings by working out, but I can't go to the gym yet because this year I have two very important life changing exams and I have to focus on them. With that said, I always feel lonely and feel how nobody will ever be physically attracted to me and because of that I push back people who do show interest in me. I get thoughts like ooooh it's because of my dad's money or they just want to have a tall boyfriend ( that's my only advantage, in my country I'm above average tall, almost 6'5" ) or maybe they just want to make fun of me. I'm just so confused, I never wanted to be the type of guy who puts this much importance in their looks. And I always thought by this time I'd be working on honing the skills I wanted to master always. But this just takes away my attention and motivation for everything and I spend way too much time on this. At this point I just want to shed my own skin like a snake and get a new skin.
