Hope y'all find this one useful! I used my video production process as an example in the video, but you can apply batching to practically anything. For another - when I process my email, I like to Star messages I'm need to reply to, then come back to them after getting rid of everything that simply needs to be deleted or archive. Also, if you're a content creator, definitely checkout Storyblocks! storyblocks.com/thomas - I've been using their service for years, so I'm stoked to have them as a sponsor now. You can also check out my free Notion templates here, which can help you with tagging and batching tasks: thomasjfrank.com/templates/

Hey Thomas, How do you know at which timestamp each clip would go in your notion board? Do you have a first version of a video where you just read the script without any other footage/clips to then know where you'll place the clip or is there some other method?
@Thomasfrank
@Thomasfrank 2 жыл бұрын
@@moonportmedia we cut the talking-head footage into an "a-cut" that's roughly the length of the final video. Then we upload that to Frame.io where we can add timestamped b-roll ideas as comments. Finally we can export those as a CSV and import into Notion so we have timestamps!

@@Thomasfrank I think that you're a true champ, and I know that you don't need anyone to tell you so - to know so. I also think that sponsors which approach you will never be wrong... BUT - to be completely honest, I admit that I become very suspicious of any sponsored content which so elegantly merged into the context (no pun intended) of a video. (Ok, I'm giving you a permission to use this quote in order to achieve even more sponsorships 🙄) While this is a legit business model, and while there's no doubt about your execution being at a top-notch level (I didn't come here to be the bait on the hook with which you'll fish more clients, but yes, you can use this phrase as well 🙄) , YET - As a viewer, I can't deny that it leaves me with the feeling that the only true ("hidden") purpose of making these videos, at the end of the day, is nothing but promoting the product of the sponsor that paid you. Which begs the question.. Is any of this even authentic...(?)

Human BEings is right. Just BE. Listen and think. Just so we don't end up with some plan that is futile or unfulfilled. Of course, do what we can today after that pause. This is cool, I also batch my todo things by whether I can do them when my baby is awake/around or whether she is asleep/preoccupied. I don’t like using screens around her and it’s easier to focus when I don’t have to worry about what she’s doing so I do all my studying etc when she’s asleep or being looked after by someone or (as she is getting older) when she is engrossed in playing with something on her own. Simple chores like washing up, going to the shops, putting away clean clothes and cooking meals I can do with her and I think that has the added bonus of making sure she grows up with an understanding of what is required to look after yourself. She’s one and a half but she likes to sit beside the washing up bowl and pass me things I ask for and this has also improved her vocabulary as she says the words “pan” and “bowl” etc herself and understands many more. Just thought I’d add that version of batching into the mix for other parents out there 😊

batching tasks is literally the best thing ever. It's difficult to start if you have order OCD (basically meaning obsessively wanting to everything in a specific order) but once you get over the hump it's so helpful for getting things done quicker in the day.

I have been following this channel for at least 7-8 years now and I love it. It helped me get A*s on all my A-Level exams, it helped me ace my Bachelor's exams and it helped me through writing my Master's dissertation. But recently I have been struggling figuring out how to stay productive while I practically live with my boyfriend. We're both employed full-time so it's not like I have my whole time at my disposal (and energy levels are highest while at work) but there are other things that I would like to achieve outside my work (e.g. improve my Spanish and work on a couple of business ideas of my own). I really struggle on how to make any meaningful progress on them while working full time, spending quality time with him and staying in shape by going to exercise a few times a week. Help desperately needed!

Recently got my first proper office, so now I have a work computer and a gaming computer at home. Re-installed Windows on the work computer and DIDN'T install my games. If you only have one computer, you can do the same with a work and personal account - make sure games are only on the personal account. You can also make the personal account's password ridiculously long and keep it written down somewhere so you have to go get the password anytime you want to log in. Bottom line, make it inconvenient to game when you're working!
@cptkt
@cptkt 2 жыл бұрын

@@cptkt I also have a set up like this and it definitely makes it way too easy to switch between the two! @Thomasfrank

@@cptkt entirely different buildings at this point - my office isn't in my house anymore! Realize that league is a horrible game and you don't even enjoy playing it, that's what worked for me! @Thomasfrank
@Thomasfrank 2 жыл бұрын
I'll recommend a couple, since those combined features don't exist as far as I'm aware! Beeminder lets you bet money that you'll do what you say you'll do, but it's individual. Habitica is a gamified habit tracker that lets you party up with others. If you don't do your habits, their characters take damage in-game and are at risk of dying and losing gear. I used both for years; they're great!
