Let's learn more about the inspiration behind the first iteration of Soviet Uniforms! From the Budenovkas, to those iconic Great Coats!

Let me know if you would like something more long form or focusing on one specific element of the uniform? I could probably do a whole vid on Budenovka tbh.

I would kill for a full 1919 winter uniform. Soviet drip is unbeaten, tho the DDR and PRC did have some pretty fire pieces as well

Will future episodes include uniforms of the VChK and OGPU? All we have is the Hollywood stereotype of the black leather trenchcoat, Nagant pistol, and military visor cap.

The film in the thumbnail, the elusive avengers, is on youtube. I definitely recommend the trilogy for anyone interested in Soviet cinema especially the "Eastern" genre. Basically westerns but set during the Russian civil war.

@@LadyIzdihar depends on what you're looking for. Quality is superb, as with pretty much all stuff from schusters, but they're quite heavy and the outer fabric is pretty rough... I mostly use them at home, like weighted blankets, but that might also just be because I'm too much of a coward to wear them in public Overall the price is pretty low compared to what kind of coats you can normally get commercially

Those are truly great uniforms, and it's interesting how much thought went into creating them. Combining classic elements with the new revolutionary spirit was a real winning combination. I love the connection between the Streltsy rebellion and these new RKKA units, many of whom were actually imperial units who rebelled against the system of oppression and said no more, it's time for the people to be in charge for once. Great video.

They complained that the hat was cold and the felt boots were clumsy. They also said that Polish troops had a square hat pointing to all directions they were in debt. The budyonnovka had no corners because the Soviets owed nothing and a middle finger of pointing to the Heavens.

The Budyenovka was unsuitable alone for the far north. Often soldiers were also issued with the balaclava. It was used because of textile industry's (among other interconnected and dependent industries, agriculture, science, etc.) limited capacity. It was replaced with the Ushanka when doing so became possible. The cotton variants were highly suited to sunny central Asia. Anyone who has complaints about Valenki, I don't want to know this person. They are the most wonderful winter footwear ever devised by mankind. Maybe they had the wrong size, I don't know. All this nonsense about the Rogatywka, I don't understand. I think they are very nice caps though. Particularly the woolen kind worn by The Polish Red Army in Russia. Excellent greatcoats too. And they fought for the liberation of all peoples from oppression. What more is needed?
@Spaibo
@Spaibo Ай бұрын
@@warsawpact1548 Valenki and other winter footwear are usually worn 1-3 sizes larger than the wearer's foot to accommodate the multiple layers of socks or footwraps in winter. So there's really nothing to complain about.
