As a land locked Canadian I'm thrilled to watch someone who not only enjoys what he's doing ( one can see how much fun you have) but takes the time to( often time repeatedly) to educate. Thank you, such a treat to go to sea but not get wet 😉! This brings back memories of my gampy thanks again.

How awesome is it to break out the light gear, I love it. By far my favourite way to fish because it really shows the fight in the fish and exaggerates the runs better. Great video John.

You asked what in nature has those bright orange colors. It may be a color mutation, and because of those bright colors, it makes it hard for them to hide from predators when they are little. Here in the states, we see it in large mouth bass. I remember reading an article about a man catching a 2 pound bass that was bright orange. That’s where I learned about it.

Hi John, I see your metal spinners have forward tandem hooks; did they com ethat way, or do you fit them fit them yourself as standard practice? I suppose some mono or split ring & swivel might do it. Nice day out, my turn tomorrow.

I'd hazard a guess that it's less about the colors we see the lures as, and more of how the fish see colors. I know that birds see much more in the ultraviolet bandwidth of light; I wonder how fish see things? Anyways, that Mango-Sunrise sandeel lure must have looked absolutely scrumptious to the fish!😂 What a lovely catch~😊

It is a proven fact that Lythe, Coley and Cod prefer the colors red, yellow and Orange. When I was small, my family always used a setup of five to six hooks with rubber bait on. We usually went with red, yellow, white, and moss green. Very rarely we used a black one. But every single time it was the reds and the yellows that took the most fish. I always wondered about that, since very few baits around where I live have those colors.

@@palmarolavlklingholm9684 There's research that shows that a few species of catshark will fluoresce under a blacklight, _and_ they have different patterns of glows from males to females. Scientists suspect that it's a way for them to visually signal to one another for prospective mates, while still maintaining camouflage from their prey and larger predators. Now if they can use that kind of visual trickery, what else are fish doing that we have no idea of~? I mean, it took us _HOW_ long to figure out that bees and other pollinating insects could see in UV, and that was why they liked bright colors? Who knows what else we haven't figured out yet~

What a beautiful day on the water, John. Thanks, as always, for sharing it with us. I couldn't help but notice that virtually all the pollock you caught were fat and, presumably, full of bait. By contrast, the one bass you took looked skinny to me (we call them "racers" here in the States.) Do you suppose that fish had just moved into the area and hadn't yet fattened up on what you described as a wealth of baitfish? I'm just a bit curious . . . Best, Chris (Maine, USA) Chris (Maine, USA)

Hi from the netherlands. Another great video to watch. I am wondering how you stop the float at 15 meters. I assume you have to use something that goes trough your rodeyes but is big enough to stop the float (and avoid your bait to go Deeper)
