But one thing I've always noticed in K and C dramas. For some reason, they always need to show two or more suitors to prove how good a catch the main lead is. Irl, this usually never happens. And also, someone who may be a catch for someone else may not be right or even attractive to you. So this whole angle seems a bit too cliched and overused. Not that I'm complaining about this series. I've been watching its shorts on YT 😅 but I still find that two or more suitors plot too overused and shallow.

@@joycechacko8207 True, the first one was just a convenient one on her part. Someone to get away from her parents (mainly her mom). The second was the one who surprised her, cause she didn’t think she was good enough for him to notice her (as she explained to her parents when they told her he was attracted to her, she didn’t believe it for a second cause why would he be attracted to someone below him, her way of thinking). The third was just infatuated with what he thought would be his ideal woman, not knowing she she had a mind of her own (in his mind he wanted someone who could essentially cater to him). He didn’t think much of marriage, especially with his parents example. I think it was pretty cool to see different examples of how we sometimes see marriage. One the convenient route, the unexpected route, and the other the safe route (sort of like marrying a friend).

i like the supposed sister-in-law of Niaoniao from Lou concubine. she knows how to subtly ask help for Niaoniao by going in the gentlemen's area and "asked for her cloak in General Ling's carriage".

This should be one of those unforgettable scenes, when General Ling "invades" the ladies' sitting area to put the offenders in their proper places. These so-called nobles are notorious for gossip and slandering. You got shamed...that's what you deserve. The general has no qualms whatsoever to publicly reprimand anyone with truth...😆😆😆😆

I love and dislike this scene...i don't like how all of sudden Niao Niao's mother stands up for her daughter with these old hags. I mean her daughter has always stood up for the truth and yet her mother treated her badly. Now for the good looking General Ling....yes. yes ma'am /sir 😍. He does get his point across about how much he cares for his bride. Those little brats get put on their place once more.

Tutor Lou is really something else! He suppressed Lou Ben and the entire second chamber of the Lou family and he was a very poor advisor to the Crown Prince. How could the Emporer not see that the Crown Prince's tutor was steering his son wrong for years? Tutor Lou suppressed his talented nephew, and the Crown Prince promoted his unqualified, maternal relatives, never admonishing, or punishing them for their misdeeds. It's a good thing ShaoShang didn't marry in. I am confused about Jutong in the palace though, she is a Lou, yet she doesn't seem to be related to the Lou family at the same time.

I found the seating arrangement interesting. Although it was imposed and restrictive, I started thinking about parties I've been to, and how many of them wound up with the men in the garage or shop, the women in the kitchen, and the teens somewhere else entirely and often split boys over there girls over here. Fortunately we are always free to wander.

As much as I love this drama, I almost gave up on it . too much of the hate , it was literally sucking the life out of me. it was almost unbearable.
