I interviewed Dan Mace - the award winning director hired by MrBeast and Casey Neistat. Thanks to Uscreen for sponsoring: bit.ly/4688uLl. And thank you to Riverside for sponsoring. Try for free with link: creators.riverside.fm/Jon (use my code "JON15" for 15% off)
The 3 time Cannes Lions award winning director left his career behind when @casey asked @DanMace to leave his career and come work for @368 - Neistat’s creator startup.
4 years later @MrBeast did the same, hiring Dan as the Chief Creative Officer for @BeastPhilanthropy. In our interview, Dan breaks down what he learned from both Casey and MrBeast, his 4-step process for viral videos, and the brand new Bru Bar.

I watched the whole interview and I really felt related with Dan in a way, as emerging filmmaker myself and having a KZfaq channel at the same time, I ask myself those type of questions about which way to go, traditional or non-traditional, focus in one or another, it's tough. Really interesting, it leaves me thinking about life and decisions, I hope one day to collaborate in big projects like Dan is doing right now, thanks to both for the cool talk, hugs! :)

Nice interview. But I don't think it's accurate to refer to him as the genius "behind" Casey Neistat's videos-he was only involved for a short period of time, and even then, wasn't he only involved in-not behind-those videos?

If you asked Casey, he would concur with the genius in many of his mentors. Even Isaac Newton said his greatness was gained by standing on the shoulders of the giants that came before him. I think your ignorance of how geniuses are created native and nurtured, etc. insults both his friend and Casey himself. Ask Casey the next time you worship his being.😅

I said this under the Colon and Samir podcast as-well. something into the effect that I miss the bru show Dan is a huge inspiration to me. And although I do miss his KZfaq channel beast for philanthropy is awesome and so well made since he started . One of the coolest somewhat famous filmmakers out there I love his work . Also by the way I think there are parts of Dan's life that could be made into quite interesting movies. Like feature length type stuff.

You asked his story it's good but you should ask what things we need to learn to become a KZfaqr, or like him. If someone doesn't know anything about all these things KZfaq, storytelling, and filmmaking then where should they start the journey? What do we do after listening to his story?

I've listened to a whole lot of these podcasts with Dan. Here's my very unpopular opinion, honestly, I don't think Casey is all that great and it's sad that Dan puts Casey on a pedestal when Dan is the one with REAL "talent". And I also find it sad that people romanticize the idea of an abusive, selfish work environment just because the person is "important" based on their social status.
