Giant Fish and Chips Challenge. The biggest and best fish and chips in Britain by far at The Wensleydale Heifer, once the holders of The Guinness Book Of Records for The Biggest Serving of Fish and Chips in The World A record breaking Fish and Chips! Fresh Whitby Haddock. Proper British Fish and Chips, Curry Sauce, Mushy Peas, Gravy, Scraps and a round of bread. The Big question is can The MacMaster finish it and receive his certificate and T.Shirt. Even Beard Meats Food has eaten here on one of his food challenges. The Fish & Chips looked fantastic 10/10 BUT remember you had 4 staff in the kitchen to prepare the meal & they had prior notice & would obviously pick the best fish knowing this was going to be a KZfaq video used as an advert. I don't blame you for this BUT you didn't pre-warn the Whitby fish shops. So lets have a level playing field as we say in Yorkshire. By the way the Wensleydale Heifer looks a great place to stay or eat.

For £26 that was certainly not what I'd call a Giant portion. Gravy may well have tasted good but the consistency was far too thin.

The fish and chips looked great 👍 Worth noting is that at both this place and Ramsey's place where Lee has scored 10/10 Lee has paid upwards of £25+ but most traditional F&C shops have charge half that price. Has buying F&C's become a case of you get what you pay for ?

I’ve always said with food you get what you pay for . Personally I would rather pay the extra and eat well and not be disappointed with the Quality and quantity

Ah Leyburn’s finest. 30 years after leaving nearby Crakehall for France, the beauty of Wensleydale in the summer is breathtaking👍. That food looked exceptional.

I stayed there once..We were in the room nxt door to the James Bond room..I'm sure the real James bond was staying there the same night because all we could here was a lady moaning "Roger,moore"😁😁

So you can go to a luxury hotel, get a meal twice the size of Whitbys steamrollered scraps (that's what we call them in Edinburgh) and only twice the price (which makes them about the same price) I know which one I would choose.I couldn't see anything to fault it.10/10

10/10 for sheer size if nothing else. The crispiness of the batter is a big plus for me. And good home made onion gravy is the bomb!

I've not long come back from Whitby for a week holiday. It's was fantastic. Never went to the Fisherman's wife, we went to Magpies, pie and mash restaurant, tried the famous kippers, I wish I knew about this place. Food looks incredible. I also watch BeardMeetsFood. I shall definitely visit this place. Looks 10/10

Definatley the same here too looks amazing ..can see those moaning 26quid but as a meal out then there's a tenners worth of haddock alone with fish prices lately...superb looking place too cost you 15quid from a chippy that would too with the extras added up... When we going haha

That looked fantastic!! 30yrs ago I would have eaten that no problem, alas my appetite is not what it was at 70 so no chance now! I have fish & chips & mushy peas also gravy for the chips but it has to be the right gravy not onion or fruity! My local does fruity! Alot more than 10/10!

I'm from the South in Cambridge and I like fish and chips with gravy but usually go curry sauce, that looked good, didn't look ridiculous big looked manageable, nice one.

Having visited the Heifer on a number of occasions I've never had the confidence to try "the Giant". I have had the large & that was a struggle. I cannot recommend the hotel more highly, all the food including the breakfast are first class.

Hi Lee, just spent 3 night at the Wensleydale heifer staying in the “ night at the movies room” on their staycation deal. I’ve got to say the best Sunday roast I’ve ever had!, fish & chips fantastic, rump of lamb dinner, great. Fantastic breakfast & great people looking after your every need with a smile. Very glad I watched this video as it made us go to the hotel that we have never heard of before. An absolutely fabulous place that everyone should stay & eat at least once in their lives!!!!!! Thanks for the recommendation, we will go for another staycation there at sometime🤞👍

@@steelcitydomains2356 glad it helped you. They do a 3 night package which saves you some money but it’s not cheap, we thought it was worth it as it’s a special place. We arrived Sunday lunchtime for the roast (a must have) & left Wednesday morning after breakfast, they even made us a fantastic packed lunch to take away so we did not need to have service’s rubbish food on our 5 hour journey home👍

Stayed at the Wensleydale Heifer in 1991 (10th wedding anniversary). Had a fantastic time and the food was brilliant. Didn't look anything like it does these days though!

Looks excellent and would love to eat it. Reminds me of the large fish at Jacks in Spalding where we lived before emigrating to Reno Nevada. I don’t have gravy or curry with fish and chips, no matter how good the sauces are. Can’t get decent fish and chips here, but one place that does sell them calls the scraps ‘crumb lies’.

Definitely looks like a 10 Lee. We stayed there 8 years ago and the food is amazing. I did try the fish & chips (a smaller one) and it was excellent. I love mushy peas but, for me, gravy & curry sauce are a big no no on fish & chips. Ketchup and vinegar should only be allowed 😁 Watching the final struggle was hilarious though 😂

OH me, that looked so good. Know what you mean about a flat fish. Too many are looking like that now. I cant find a good F & C in Ireland. Had not a bad one in Mallorca tbh. That was amazing. What a beautiful place. Wish I lived close by.

That was definitely worthy of a 10 it looked Amazing and the quality of the ingredients looked equally amazing big pats on backs to the staff and especially to you for finishing the meal and as for the rooms WOW we are certainly lacking places to eat like that 😀

Mmm, that lookeed awesomeness! Batter was so crispy and the whiteness of the Haddock, pure taste bud tingling! Bad point. Never marked the tarture sauce, nor did you try a squeeze of the lemon on an area of that lovely fish! Congrats on the certificate and tee shirt. Keep up the good work.

having been born and bred close to grimsby i have been spoiled with quality haddock. the fish, chips and peas looked ace, that was certainly a meaty piece of haddock , bet it was sweet as a nut! when i eat the fantastic fish we get here i poke the batter open with a couple of wooden chip forks before i put salt and vinegar on. there is absolutely no way i would have curry sauce or gravy! the best way to eat fish and chips is with your fingers, on the beach x

Watched this last night. My favorite meal is fish and chips. The more videos I watch of yours, you remind me of a old friend that lives over there. His name is Paul and he's also on KZfaq with his videos. He's known as Mr.Methane, know of him? Last I knew he was a engineer for the railroad. Love your reviews, but fish and chips are my go to videos.

Never ask the locals at Whitby their Yorkshire they will always send you to the cheapest, the Magpie is the best bar none in Whitby!!!
