One of their favoured tricks is to deafen their prey with a scream that has all their vox amplifiers turned up all the way. I believe Talos uses it in the second Night Lords book on the bridge of a ship. I don’t remember if it was when they stole the Echo of Damnation from Huron Blackheart or an Imperial Vessel. Similar can be said of the Raptors delight in inflicting fear and pain on others as it also is a common trait among Night Lords.

Weren't all Raptor Cultists originally worshipers of Konrad Curse/The Night Haunter as their own twisted version of The Emperor? Wasn't it hinted at that, that was slowly turning him into a Minor Chaos God? You know, eventually setting up his return since Konrad was more evil due to circumstances, like Angron, but had never devoted himself to one of the 4. What's with this new shit lore of them just worshiping any Chaos God to hamfist them into the story. Especially fucking Slaanesh, when it's ideology is so antithetical to Curze's/Knight Haunter's. At least if it was just Khorne and Khorne accessories, it could be explained that their Primarch's duality of Wrathful Murder and Incorruptible Justice in the face of evil drove them towards the Crimson God due to similarities in beliefs.

The night lords are the most human like of Chaos space marines, in their novel they talk about how they have their own life outside the carnage of war and they would even mock other chaos space marine for their demonic devoted mutations behind their back

In my own head canon Konrad Curze is a minor Chaos god of Fear. He wanted true oblivion as death is nothing compared to vindication. Unfortunately his use of fear and terror and the use of it by tyrants and crime lords throughout the years dragged his soul from the warp into true godhood as the embodiment of fear. It is the most 40k thing I have thought of. The man who wanted to die so badly to spite his father is instead forced to exist as the embodiment of fear and terror.

The fact that they all have similar mutations, behaviors and hunting tactics indicates to me that they follow the same god. Slaanesh seems the most plausible.

I've been under thinking for awhile now that the Raptor models we see for CSM are just stray groups of Night Lords that have hired on to the the warband. For one thing, a lot of the Raptor models are biting the style of the Night Lords anyway. But mainly because the Night Lords (the chapter with the most Raptors) is also the most scattered without any command structure. They were all a bunch of literal reprobates, so I think that they just look for battlefields like carrion (or Chaos Furies) so they can hire themselves out, loot stuff, and kill for fun. I doubt that they'd worship Kurze, because even when he was ALIVE, his own Legion didn't respect him much. Although... Conrad was meant to be a sad figure because he didn't WANT to seen as a monster, he just thought it was the only thing that worked for keeping order, and it's the kind of missions Big E got use to sending him on. So if posthumously later generations of Night Haunters started to estactically REVERE him for being a monster, it would be an on-brand tragedy.

I could see some demented fusion of the gods to bring back one of the dead primarchs. It would make sense for Curze since different raptor cults follow different gods. Just my two cents. I read somewhere that Night Lords Raptors generally avoided the religiosity of the gods and worship and such but clearly there are many cults. So who knows. I would like some models for different raptor cults for different gods.

Missed one other option that they might not be aligned to any chaos god and just be a manifestation of the raw power of chaos. Raptors share a common trait with another non aligned entity of the warp.... that being the furies. Furies side with which god is ascendant at the time, have wings and talon/claw like apendages . They toy with their victims, prey on the weak and often hunt them relentlessly then kill when they offer no more amusement. Sounds awfully like the modus operandi of all variants/alignment of the raptors tbh. Maybe the furies see a kinship with the raptors and meld their essence within them as a form of chaos possession undivided, then it's up to the individual fury/raptor to form an alliance with a major god or not

Didn't the raven guard also have raptors? Or, were they called something else? Thinking of the failed raptor project...

My guess is that the Raptors may worship any god they choose, but the consistency of their transformation says to me that might be tapping into the power of a Chaos God other than the four major powers, like some primal god of beasts. I mean, if the Warp is a reflection of all life then shouldn't that mean there is a god that represents the basic impulses of all life, even if that god isn't necessarily sentient?

Raptors have a primary focus on terror tactics, so they're probably worshiping Malice to an extent. Terror is more his wheelhouse than the Big Four.

I would go for one of the Great Four. A lesser deity wont offer a lot in terms of "blessings" to the cult members. Khorne likes the blood to flow no matter whose blood it is. But using scare tactics and having utter joy in targeting the weak does not sound like his favorite type of warriors.

I don't believe The Bleeding Eyes (Night Lord Raptors) are solely devoted to any Chaos God but more than just warped and mutated due to exposure in The Great Eye. Lucorphyus even admitted to not denying the gifts of the Ruinous Powers. They don't follow any Chaos God but embrace the warp itself as a whole.

Imagine if Corvus Corax became a demon primarch of the god emporer.

The one thing I truly dislike about 40k is how much they retcon stuff. It is like they have no respect for the IP. Sometimes even invalidating 40k novels that had prior approval. I don't mind them changing game mechanics, though some of those I hate to see when the game is working well. I just don't like the fluff being rewritten so often.
