How can you learn to swing a golf club without having to think about too many things?
I woke up to this in my inbox:
"That was the most amazing golf lesson - exactly what I needed. You mention all the time that we should keep the golf swing simple but I never really believed it fully...you have no idea the impact this golf lesson has had on my game. I'm so grateful for you and your time!!"
Whoa! how nice is that...
I absolutely love helping golfers find their golf swings. Getting feedback that they are finding the game so much easier and having much more fun on the golf course is why I do what I do. You see over the years the golf swing has been chopped up and dissected into so many pieces it can sometime feel like it will take forever to learn.
But don't believe that. This is the old school way.
The new school way is to learn your swing. We are all built differently, different shapes and sizes, different levels of strength and flexibility. Should we all swing it the same way?
Take a look at the the hottest golfers in the world right now. Colin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Victor Hofland. They have chosen to adopt the new school way. They have chosen to find a golf swing that works for them rather than fit into a model that someone has designed.
In this weeks golf lesson I give you an amazing golf drill that will truly help you strike the golf ball so much better, hit driver straight...but more importantly it won't require you to remember a check list of to do's before every shot. If you have questions like How do I hit a golf ball with an Iron? How can I learn to strike my irons pure every time? How do I stop hitting the ground behind the golf ball? How to hit driver straight?

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumbleI’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I’ve been “playing” golf for over 30 years and watching Danny’s videos over the past several months has finally made something click. For everyone that has been struggling with game like I have, you have to STOP HITTING at the ball. Danny is teaching us to swing with our body and large muscles instead of our hands and arms. I’ve read so many articles and watched so many videos over the years but I could never stop hitting at the ball. Danny’s weight shift drills and other tips have got me to finally start swinging instead of hitting. If you want to get better, learn how to stop hitting with your hands and arms. Thanks Danny!

These past few weeks have all built the swing method so coherently. January has been practising with these drills and less playing. Took them to the course yesterday and they worked so well. Thanks Danny. There are lots of golfers feeling guilty about how much they owe you for these lessons.

I like Danny’s style of teaching. Very informative but never intimidating. I always feel like I can stop and start the video and practice each aspect of his instruction. I love the jacket analogy. It truly works. I know my swing is changing for the better because I can feel different golf swing muscles being stressed. Good work, Danny!

Always watch one of your vids before going out and practicing. Going 50% wih your swing method will get most amateur golfers round a course with a good bit of success. Love how you always remind us how easy it is to swing a golf club, we don't need 100 diffferent ways to fix a slice when you just swing freely and let the club do the work.

hi Danny, here is Marc again. This was also an wonderful exercise for me with my painful back. I made this exercise and the exercise with th two little steps with my Leadbetter exercise Golfclub. It works wonderful, best is, without pain in my back. No muscels getting closed or becoming hard. Great advantage of your exercises !! The fun of golf is back in my mind. I am only working without a golfball only by swinging the traingclub with the moveable weights on it and it feels phantastic, but brandnew, and i played since 1995. NOone before told me that i only throwed my golfclub down and i think with my very good eye hand coordination (you hopefully remember i played Waterpolo as a pro) i reached to hit the ball. Now i can feel it with closed eyes and without pain. It feels natural and smooth and the pace will really come from your hips and the body. Iam fascinated Danny! Can't wait for less rain here and hitting a ball with closed eyes... . Thx and stay healthy, best greetings, your fan from Germany! :-)))

Great advice AGAIN Danny, by coincidence I have only just worked this out - “one piece turn” we were told - as usual you are spot on! The other idea you gave us a while ago was that it is NOT a turn, it’s a pivot - you are doing great things for this wonderful, great game. Cheers and thanks 😊

Thanks Danny. All your tips are helping me to realize what I’m doing wrongly in my swing and this vid is no exception. I only wish that I was a better learner and that my body would follow my brain instead of ignoring it and doing what it thinks is right! I tried the jacket over my shoulders idea and found that if I placed a soft toy in the sleeve of the right arm it helped with the feeling of getting a punch in the swing. What do you think of this?

Danny, in my opinion, best lesson yet! I am 65 ,still supple and strong but I have lost distance mainly on my irons. I was noticing I wasn’t using my weight shift correctly ,mostly just turning. I believe this will unlock my swing to finally beat my ( little ) brother. Thanks!!!

Priceless! Danny is THE best coach for mid to high handicap golfers. This lesson reminded me of my main fault. I hold off the club rather than letting flow so the ball goes right

Yet another great video that embodies all the elements of a proper golf swing, particularly emphasizing the one most important fact--you do NOT swing the club using the hands and arms to generate the power. Took over 60 years before a golf pro told me that! Better late than never, I suppose.

YES Danny...I had a major eureka moment with this the other day... Realised I'd been dragging the handle through impact instead of releasing it, which was the cause to all my open face problems in the downswing... Now my "swing feel" to me is like my hands go straight up then straight back down to my trail leg then they just stop and then the club head just overtakes and through the ball... Filmed some swings at the range clubface is closing in the downswing like it should be and I'm on plane and right where I need to be. Contact is great and litrally zero effort and so relaxed compaired to what I was doing and i have the same if not more distance as before. Now I feel like I've wasted all my previous time trying to "fix" my swing...😄

I often feel that by swinging down like this, using the swinging weight of the club, that my hands will end up producing a flip and I therefore probably grip the club too tightly for fear of losing control with the hands. Must persevere more with what you are saying after watching this lesson. Thank you as usual.
@DanielMaude

It’s ok to hold the club firmly you just need the wrists to be mobile.
