Not if you live in the middle of nowhere -- then it's the only place to shop, unfortunately.

I shop on other canadian websites because they don't have as much as the american Amazon. They can't possibly be the only company that is able to ship to you, but if not then it's pretty good. I don't hate Amazon, I just always found better prices elsewhere.

It's weird listening to this statement on consumer addiction when I use neither Amazon, Apple, Facebook or Uber, and I'm not a luddite. I think much of the notion of convenience is imagined.

Makes me proud to be an Australian, the true lucky country. Paid maternity leave, a decent minimum wage, holidays and sick days, like I said the real lucky country.

Nope Nope even if i have very similar benefits, when i think about the winter in the alps i have to admit he's right. I smoked a cig outside (~10min) and had my Phone out. When i finished there was a layer of ice on the screen. Greetings!

Amazon started it's Australian operations about 6 months ago and everyone was predicting DOOM for local retailers. This has not happened so far. Amazon has to pay law abiding salaries and use law abiding shipping companies that pay Australian legislated pay and conditions. Amazon is probably competing well with local companies but certainly not smashing the competition like they have done in the USA. Better labour and competition laws in the USA would have saved a lot of jobs and businesses.

I have never bought anything from Amazon ever. I have gone to Wal-Mart a few times out of convenience but I try not to. If everyone did this the world would be much better.

The "billions" part is the whole point of capitalism. Make money, and if others can make some doe too (employes) gov. is happy. But where does it all lead? Is anybody of "importance" asking that?

Michael Jensen capitalism American style is pure slavery. I realised this a decade ago and moved to Australia. Best decision of my life. Whatever system Australia has is truly much superior to what I experienced in USA. I can see that my poor sister has no life. She has aged a decade faster compared to me. She has no quality in her life. And I frankly have more saving in the bank and work half her hours. It’s terrible.

I am a driver for Amazon Flex in the UK and I have to say I have no qualms with the work. The issue people have is that they make it their main source of income which is ridiculous as it is not reliable enough as with any job in the gig economy. Yeah they don't pay me overtime or my fuel expenses but I didn't have to take this job, its just nice easy afternoon work when I'm not at university.

TBH Facebook made the right decision in not taking down racist and hateful comments. Everyone should be entitled to express their opinion no matter what it is. Free speech is THE cornerstone of western civilization and should be protected at all costs.
