Very well said jim as always. Toxic masculinity is the suppression of feelings and the bullying of men who want to express themselves the way they would like to. We need to understand to accept each other as men

It's one thing to need to be tough in the face of adversity. That is good advice regardless of one's gender. The notion that men shouldn't express emotion, such as crying, though, because doing so makes them less tough _is_ what makes masculinity toxic.
@ArowanaVV
@ArowanaVV 6 жыл бұрын
That's exactly why the distinction between the terms masculinity and toxic masculinity exists though. It's fine to be masculine, it certainly has value. However, we shouldn't strive for an ideal where masculinity overshadows other very real needs, but rather a balance between them. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

He comes across as a very sweet and smart guy, and he's very confident. I do suspect he may be eating the souls of children in order to maintain his ridiculous level of energy, so maybe not perfect, but which of us _hasn't_ occasionally eaten a child soul before? It's great for the skin!

You are the perfect modern man, Jim Jefferies. I don't know, but Tom Holland (he hasn't shown any sign of toxic masculinity, he's a good dancer and a decent actor) is a good candidate even if he's really young still. Also, imagine if a female comedian did a segment like this. The amount of dislikes and hate comments from men would be through the roof. But it's good to see Jim doing a good job at informing and educating while still being funny and approachable.

The exclusion of Homosexuality doesn't naturally come from young men. It comes from our parent's/grandparent's hopes / expectations. We like to pretend that the world has solved the problem of inequality or discrimination but it's the effect of the media on previous generations that is still part of the problem we face today.

Apparently the emotional part of a male's brain does not have the same volume of connections to the verbal part of the brain as females have making it innately more difficult for them to express emotions. I don't know if forcing boys to do something which is so difficult for them is very helpful. Mabe helping them to improve in doing the things that they really value would be better for their self worth and social standing. I would be interested in knowing if any guys out there relate to this?
@guiguspi
@guiguspi 6 жыл бұрын
Sylvia Matthews 'Forcing' boys to express emotions the same way as girls do is probably unhelpfull. Still, man have their own need and way of sharing, and having an enviroment where this can happen (like a small circle of guy friends open to it) can be quite helpfull and healthy, I believe.

see, the thing is no matter how strong you are, we all have weak moments in our lives. women actually like a man with some weakness, it make them feel useful in a relationship. Jim is not telling men to be a sobbing baby, we should still be strong. however, we should also not be AFRAID to talk about our troubles when it overwhelms us. people who bottle their emotions are cowards, they are afraid of what people think of them. it take courage to tell other people that you are having trouble.

Maybe you should start with learning what that term is about. Unlike what people who use terms like "feminazis" told you, it doesn't imply that all masculinity is toxic. It just says that there is a way of seeing and expressing masculinity that is harmful to yourself and others.

Toxic masculinity isn't a thing. It's a made up term and it's a dangerous one. There are far too many people who use the term just as an excuse to hate men. When have you ever heard the term toxic femininity? If there is a toxic masculinity, then there HAS to be such a thing as toxic femininity otherwise you're saying that women don't have the same level of flaws as men. When you start saying that, then you're CLEARLY BIASED against men. Anyone who puts some real thought into this can see it.
@fensew94
@fensew94 5 жыл бұрын
@@ThatBorderlineGuy I don't really believe in toxic femininity because typically society isn't as encouraging of feminine traits as it is masculine which for me prevents it from manifesting the same way as toxic masculinity. If you believe in it could I ask you to give some examples of how toxic femininity is negatively affecting women.
