Either it "is" Big E, or Tzeentch pulling a 4,000 year joke on the Imperium. Both point to a presence in the warp at least pretending to be him like Grayfax wants Celistine to be. And if "anything" can draw the Presence if not the attention of a warp based Big E, I'm pretty sure his own Geneseed would be a precedent. ... Revuel Arvida was infused with the loyal shard of magnus when he started to succumb to the Fleshchange. And this process created Janus. Here’s hoping this comes up in the next part on the grey knights

Cool thing about Janus, the 1st Supreme Grandmaster, is that his Gene-Seed was probably used to create the Blood Ravens, and that is the reason the Blood Ravens have a fairly good relations with the Grey Knights.

I’m 90% sure the grey knights are just using a stabilized version of magnus’ geneseed that history has forgotten to time so they just call it the emperor’s due to the immense psychic power.

The reason i dont think its a Grey Knights is throughout the story, the silver knight recounts often his younger years, which Grey Knights lose all memory of who they were pre-initiates so that kinda conflicts, but they could retcon that.

I don't dislike the theory, since Warhammer is a setting with many exceptions to absolutes, but the fans aren't convinced whether he was actually a Grey Knight, or just "a knight in silver armor". It's been brought up that there's no mention of the Silver Knight being a Psyker, nor his armor harming Daemons (which Aegis Armor will), so I'd call it... Contested.

iirc, there's another story in one of the anthologies (Silent War or Eye of Terra?) where some injured veterans are stuck in a stranded refugee ship full of injured soldiers and orphans. They run across a loyal Thousand Son and it's implied that the ships are intended for Titan. Loyal veteran soldiers for the inquisition and orphans for Grey Knights recruitment.

@@JosephHead There's a lot of speculation that unreliable narration may be at play surrounding that whole debacle. I've seen a lot of debate that at some point during that conversation Magnus wasn't speaking with Vulkan anymore, but rather was speaking with the Emperor through Vulkan. It's all up to personal interpretation of course.

@@Bugeye0704 Oh, that's interesting! I did read through the excerpt, but I read through it on Reddit. Reddit users are, um...pretty passionate about their personal interpretations of the text. I was seeing a lot of back and forth on it. I have my own biases so I'm trying to not let it color my words and assumptions toooooo much. I was under the impression that the tip off was when "Vulkan" brought up something he shouldn't have known and Magnus questioned who he really was, and I think a lot of people highlighted that as being significant. Was that the part where it's all but stated? It sort of felt like there were also a ton of people who didn't catch that or didn't view that as significant.

@@bozeia yeah, during the vision “Vulkan” talks about the Emperor’s perspective on the offer (the quote above is only part of it). Magnus realises that Vulkan cannot know the things he’s talking about. When the vision ends. Vulkan has zero clue what has happened to Magnus and doesn’t mention any vision, however he does observe that Magnus isn’t looking at him, he is looking over Vulkan’s shoulder, as if another presence is standing behind him. Immediately the Emperor begins telling Vulkan to kill Magnus. I’m actually surprised there’s any kind of debate on it 😂 the book makes it quite clear it’s the Emperor.
