I love the dycotomy between Warhammer and the Pathfinder universe when it comes to the gods and whatnot. Because in Warhammer; sure gods have died but none have done so in the current time to shake things up. Meanwhile in Pathfinder one of the very recent big events was one of the gods being slain and throwing the entire setting into chaos.

It is kinda possible to soft-kill Slaanesh within the setting. Age of Sigmar kinda did it. Basically, aelves Gods found a way to hide, imprison him and syphon souls from the Old World from him. Meanwhile, Chaos and Slaanesh followers are looking for him, while the latter are also trying to become the next Slaanesh or just raiding for the lulz depending on the warband. Then Slaanesh gave birth to two twin Daemon Princes that are and aren't him. Meanwhile The Great Horned Rat filled the four Chaos Gods vacuum but every Chaos people don't like and don't take him seriously. tl:dr: Slaanesh status in AoS: It's complicated.

I wouldn't mind if this progressed the story a bit, heresy as it might be. For example, somehow the 5 swords are reunited, Ynead cuts off all Eldar souls from Slaanesh, but the united Eldar now are locked in an eternal war against She Who Thirsts (and GW loves deadlocks, right?). You could make it so now Slaanesh is more fixated in humanity or something. After all, endless passion and suffering should exist anywhere in the universe for Them to feed upon.

Maybe if you goaded Khorne into sieging Slaanesh's realm, you could nick the sword in the mayhem?

Is there a version of an Aeldari win where Slaanesh is split into minor gods? Like the Aeldari win, "kill slaanesh"" and out spawns some other chaos gods but Not Slaanesh.(I don't play AOS, but I think that's generally what happened with Dexcessa and Synessa.) Then Emperor's Children could maybe have some Cool Centerpiece Models and the plot could move forward.

Keep in mind, Vulkan is a perpetual, he cannot be killed off, they just ignore that for the tabletop because he's already so insanely tough to kill the only primach who has a decent chance of killing him off in a reasonable timeframe is Horus at his peak.

One of the coolest parts of the ynnari is they they bring in some dark eldar. It makes them seem more like the subfaction of the overall aeldari race rather than just mustache twirling torture elves.

I've got this tin foil hat therory that the nids are possibly as old as the old ones. maybe even being so close as to be born at the same time. creatures that create and destroy. granted the old ones weren't exactly nice nice (story of the necrons shows that) but I don't believe they ever hated anything down to the bone. they just made shit because they wanna made shit. kinda like how the nids do. they don't necessarily eat for survival, they do it because they can and want to.

I bet the old gray knight story for getting through all of the slanesh challenges may come back in a cool way if still cannon

So Ynnead is a sort of... low-tier god, you could say.

You need 5 Swords to kill Slanesh and the 5th sword is in her palace, it's obvious what to do. Take the 4 swords to the palace and you're already with Slanesh to kill her, the problem is its the end of the story one way or an other. Either Slanesh lives or dies and I don't think Slanesh loses. Maybe Yvranne survives and escapes (which is pretty bad ass to escape a demon god) but I think Yvranne only has a few more chances to advance her story (she can always pop up in other stories). I think GW is trying to get us 15-ish primarchs back in the lore/table before they have any big Multi edition events like the Indomitus Crusade. The last 2 Crusades have had very little impact with the imperium taking a big L in leviathan and Nexus pariah not even getting a book. I think GW wants HeroHammer with named characters especially with the way list building is in 10th makes you want to run like 6 Characters to lead a ton of units.

Honestly they could kill slaneesh all they have to do then is have shattered aspects of it still running around like a ctan or khaine . Look at AOS just have a different god jump into their place vashtor great horned rat ect and still let their demon primarchs and demon lords still be around as aspects who they might be trying to rebuild slanesh or gather the shards for themselves to grow in power …. Not hard guys

Ynnari aren't from 3rd ed - YNNEAD was mentioned in 3rd. The Ynnari were created as a faction beyond Ynnead way later

Either way, Eldar needs better and more lore. I desperately want to like them, but since i usually read books and play games theirs not many games about them in 40k or really even feature them. And the books aren't as good as, say, chaos or imperium books.

Ever tried DMT? That's how I imagine experiencing the warp to be like with all the emotional manifestations, non-linearity and dilatation of time (it's fractal) as well as its neat side effect of shattering your understanding of reality.

Something I would like to add is that in Age of Sigmar lore something akin to "Slannesh dying to save the elves" is currently whats happened. The way AoS handled it is that Slannesh is tricked and imprisoned in a paradox realm where the new Aelf pantheon then cut out and siphon elf souls from. Technically Slannesh is "missing" from the chaos pantheon in AoS, it is even shown with Archeon's model where his mount has a head for each of the chaos gods, except Slannesh because they are missing. But her essence is still there, the realms of Slannesh is still in the warp, just the throne room is empty. A big plot line for AoS Slannesh armies right now is the search for their missing god. Really interesting stuff. I can definitly see a out for GW in that Reborn Ynead god could fight slannesh forever in the warp while harliquinn clown god does a sneaky and yoinks the souls to get reborn. But Slannesh is still extremely powerful so some Eldar souls get sent to Slannesh but there is hope that Ynead and Kekgod could rescue some souls.

I mean, they kinda killed off slaanesh in warhammer AOS, so it's not completly impossible.
