Correction: Jump_murus first completion was a time of 3 hours and 9 minutes. The time shown is just the first time uploaded to the Tempus Records youtube channel. My bad :/

WHY DOES PRESSING W SLOW YOU DOWN
@kapsaysin
@kapsaysin 9 ай бұрын
@pogobod2128 It doesn't really slow you down if you use w in the air (w strafing for example), but w messes with regular strafing killing your momentum. W strafing is used more in regular gameplay, but is rarely used when it comes to jump maps. It makes regular jumps harder since you can't aim where you're going while w strafing, but it's nice to keep your aim on an enemy while still being harder to hit.

12:39 note: it's 3500 hu/s in each axis(x, y, and z). This means, horizontally, you could go ~4949 hu/s, and in all 3 axes it would be ~6062 hu/s
@vadim.kh7
@vadim.kh7 9 ай бұрын
it's nice that you mention this! For some reason i never thought about the fact that tf2 is a 3d game and in my mind i always though that max speed would be 3500 * sqrt(2). But i cant recall any map that utilizes 6062 limit. Are you sure that is the case? Because if you had x and z components of a horizontal speed then you would be able to go faster diagonally, but from experience you cant go faster than 3500 in any horizontal direction. My guess that this vector is normalized, so overall cap would be 3500 * sqrt(2)

nice job on the video! although im quite dissapointed for not mentioning the T0 maps/bonuses that have been beaten (although yes they aren't as hard as the T10 ones but i think it would be worth) (rip jump_super_redo) there is still alot more when it comes to hard jumps, coming from challenges and T0 maps/bonuses. For instance, there's the jump_armature map which was meant to be humanly impossible (different from actual impossible maps, since jump_armarture have been previously beaten with TAS) but cygnus has grinded ALOT and got really close to beating it. and for the challenges, i tried to challenge myself to not use any movement key on jump_academy2_rc7 (old version), which ended up being humanly impossible or even impossible for some parts and ended with 50% of the courses being above T6 difficulty. either way, unfortunately (and slightly offtopic), tempus is kinda taking a new direction which will change maps that have alot of annoying jumps such as random bounces and other things that involves heavy rng, so even if the "hardest map" has been beaten, tempus will slightly modify it to be a map which anyone can beat it, although not always the case, but yeah... (which is also one of the motives on why im starting to *not like tempus that much* , although without tempus it won't change anything for my jumping side so im definitely fine.) one last thing, i am going to make future maps which might involve even more skill compared to attached3, or atleast as hard as that. of course thats no fun, so for my next future maps (excluding the current one that i am almost done) i will take my efforts to create new type of wallpogo jumps and obviously not try to make wallpogo as "boring" as most people say. (unfortunately it will be always the case, although we will see in the future). :^) edit: yeah i didn't watched the video wops.......... you mentioned jump_speed2........... what a bummer.......
@Tritibellum
@Tritibellum 9 ай бұрын
btw if you got confused with the whole T0 tier thing T0 basically means that the map is either completely impossible or haven't been beaten by a jumper yet (without TAS obviously) so for example: jump_armature is T0, despite being possible.

I'm happy you mentioned it but honestly, you could make a feature length documentary about the history of jump_when, newjuls' attempts to beat it (i think either his game or the server crashed while he was on c10 like 5 times), waldo's mastery of it (several hundreds of hours of practice on strats for specific levels), then waldo's proof that he mastered it by making a harder map, and there would STILL be more to talk about regarding them.

I honestly think it would be really awesome if a yt channel similar to these kinds of videos but with 6s or 9s if not just "normal" competitive in general would be really good. Especially since such a channel would have a large enough influence to improve the scene in various ways. One thing I'd love is if a pugging system would be very popularized again like 7-5.5 years ago with TF2Center when clicking fast enough to get Sniper, Spy, Soldier, or Scout was harder than playing in open (ETF2L). But still have minuscule waiting times in less popular times like at 2 am where It'd take about 30 minutes to fill a Highlander or 6s lobby. Then again, I'm just an aging person wishing for the TF2 comp scene to bloom with loads of people once more.
