Luongo has been huge for us as a goalie coach. Bob is playing sharp but so is Stolarz and they’ve become on of the best goalie tandems in the league. Team defense is also excellent as well. Forsling might be one of the best, if not the best shutdown defenseman in the league while Mikko Mikkola, Dimitry Kulikov and Oliver Ekman Larson have been excellent pickups for our blue line. And that’s not even getting into the fact that we have an abundance of two way forwards that will happily light you up in the scoreboard whilst blanking you defensively. Barkov needs no introduction here. He should be the Selke favorite by good margin. But guys like Eetu Luostarainen, Anton Lundell, Sam Bennet, Sam Reinhart, Evan Rodriguez, and Matthew Tkachuck are all very good defensively and help make Maurice’s system work to perfection. Then you add what is probably the most dangerous element to this team: The forcheck. This team’s forcheck might be the best I’ve ever seen. They are absolutely relentless and all 4 lines will bring it every night. They will put a body on you, they will force you to commit turnovers and then with their forward group, they will make you pay for those turnovers. Special mention to the 4th line as it is far superior to last years. They got younger and bigger and frankly, their a bit more skilled. Lomberg and Gadjovich will put you through the wall and Stenlund is excellent at establishing possession and helping generate looks. They’ve been a treat to watch out there. You did mention depth scoring and that is/was a concern. And it can be pretty much tied to one player, and that player is Nick Cousins. He’s just not a good complimentary piece for that third line and ever since they’ve moved Rodrigues down they’ve been starting to produce whilst we’ve been able to hide Cousins’ lack of productivity on the second line, where Tkachuk and Bennett can absolutely carry that line themselves if needed. If we can acquire a solid middle 6 guy in the deadline, that will solve our depth scoring woes completely. But this team is a treat to watch overall. They can beat you in any fashion. Try to beat them in a high scoring affair? They have the offensive tools to match and the defensive structure to stymie you. Try to beat them in a tight contest? Their defense and goaltending will prevent you from getting quality looks while their forwards will get them enough goals to win. Try to beat them in a grind it out, physical slugfest. They’ve several players on the roster that can both put you through a wall and then light you up on the scoreboard. They can beat you in any fashion and it’s been a joy to watch as a fan. Especially after having to watch so many awful Panthers teams in the past.

On Montreal: Since the New Year the line of Slafkovsky-Suzuki-Caufield has been playing lights out. The power play(with those three on it) has been clipping at 27%, a welcome surprise. Combine that with the Matheson-Guhle pairing on the backend and Montreal has a fearsome fivesome. The rest of the roster however… less said the better. Goaltending has been great. So there is that at least

The Canes' goaltending has improved considerably in January and February. It was miserable in November and December. This video is a little bit outdated as far as the Canes are concerned. They've had an excellent record in recent weeks.

Being a Panthers fan has never been a more blessed experience than it has been so far this season! Also, for some reason I kept reading the Senators title card as "Literal Congestion" and thought that was just as hilarious as the actual title..

Finally made my first ever hockey game this year after watching it on tv, off and on for a couple of years. Got to see the Canes play at home and I can’t believe the energy and entertainment they put on there. I’m totally sold on hockey and done with the usual U.S. sports!

As a Leaf fan, this is the worst the team has been since the 19/20 season. I don’t get why the Leafs thought hiring Brad Treliving of all GM’s would be the answer. Calgary was also an embarrassment with him there, and it’s no different in Toronto. Most of the additions he’s made have been total busts while pieces that left in the off-season do great elsewhere. Goaltending sucks, defence sucks, depth is inconsistent, Keefe should have been fired 2 seasons ago. This team is being carried by high end talent straight to another first round exit. Hopefully we let go or try to get Mitch or Tavares off our shoulders in the off-season but until then we’re in cap hell. The memes are glorious for the rest of the nhl to salivate at while I cry in self hatred.

slaf has been playing great recently, especially since he’s been back with suzuki and caufield. suzuki has also been having an incredible season being nearly point per game on a team where he has little help at center. you acknowledged it in the graphic a bit but saying slafkovsky is “failing to thrive” is just wrong and shows you haven’t been paying attention to the team. that first line has been dominant. that line is something habs fans are super happy and excited about.
