The level of difficulty in women’s artistic gymnastics has vastly increased over the past decade.
Since the open-ended scoring system was introduced in 2006, there are in theory no limits to the maximum possible rating awarded to new skills.
In 2012, the highest rating given in the Code of Points was G and it only took about 7 years for it to be raised to J. At the Tokyo Games, a K-level skill on floor was even submitted but it has yet to enter the Code.
Every year, new insanely-difficult elements are popping up - gymnasts are taking the discipline to a whole 'nother level and there seems to be no sign of slowing down anytime soon.

Jade’s version we’ve seen her train is actually a laid out triple double, so more difficult than Simone’s. So I wonder if she actually nails the tucked version
@murasakino101
@murasakino101 2 жыл бұрын
@@steveb.7278 I think the original comment was referring to the triple double. Like the video stated, Jade and mikayla have both done the biles II too and they both landed it well. The triple double lay out is concerning though. Jade's landings have gotten a lot better, but the skill is hard to keep form on AND land safely on. Since she'll be doing college, I don't think we'll see it for a while, but I hope she's able to land it successfully one day. I personally think she might have done it I'm Tokyo if Simone was able to do floor finals but since she wasn't there, Jade didn't need it.

To me, Carey is the silent successor of Biles. She’s consistent, performs very difficult skills and is on her way to performing a skill more difficult than the Biles II. Now, though I believe she will be the successor, I don’t think she will be as trascendental to the sport as Simone is. I mean, let’s be honest, we won’t have another gymnast like Biles for decades from now.

@@kanyebreast6072 The COP has ruined this sport, in my opinion, by ignoring these hideous glaring errors and still scoring her first. She's destroyed the beauty of this sport by going beyond the sweet spot of difficult, artistic gymnastics with exceptional form and execution. was just watching vid i took at trials of her on fx. u cant quite appreciate the physics of Simone until u c her in person. the height she generates is literally out of this world. i waz speechless then and typing this out several months later is difficult bc there simply are not words that accurately define what i saw. You know thosegiant tv cameras that move as gymnast competes? theyre like a mini crane with long arm that extends upward and are at eye level of audience sitting on 2nd or 3rd levels of arena? well in the video i have, right when she does RO BHS the camera moves upwards toward ceiling about 5 or 6 feet bc thats how far out of a regularly positioned camera shot she would be if the camera stayed put. i hope that makes sense. i dont know what those cameras or their parts are called; however, im sire they have a name, unlike the amazingness that is Simone. there is no word for it--it is simply Simone Biles. what a treasure.

Gymnastics IS a sport to test endurance, strength, flexibility, control over your body, control over the laws of physics, muscular tone and conditioning, and to inspire other people to keep their own bodies in FANTASTIC shape. I think people who are bemoaning the "lost artistry" that they claim has come at the sake of higher skills DO NOT REMEMBER what Gymnastics IS.

Sorry but there’s pros and cons to both and for you to phrase this the way you have just makes you sound bitter because you can’t have what you want now.
