There are allways People on youtube that are saying: "You deserve more subs!" for any crap Channel and Content. For me its clear... YOU deserve more subs!! Thank you for this. I got StarWING in '93 for my new SNES and was blown away! First time i saw 3D Graphics in Realtime!

When you put it that way I appreciate the compliment even more, haha! Star Fox/Wing definitely was a lot of people’s introduction to 3D graphics in a video game (mine as well!). By far an incredibly important and impressive game, especially in 1993.

This definitely raises the point of why haven't Nintnedo ported Zero to the switch? I think it would do well, it would give fans a chance to play who didn't before, and honestly it can't be that much if a financial burden. Super happy to see you finish up this history and see where this all came from! Keep it up man!

Thanks a ton man, appreciate you watching! Honestly, I think Zero has such a bad stigma associated with it that I’m wondering if Nintendo is scared that’ll carry over to a port. That said, I’d love to see it ported with more standard controls though I imagine they’d have to rework a lot of the game. If they can make it work for Skyward Sword though, they can make it work for Star Fox Zero. 😅

So, I'm in the middle of watching this part two (and of course, it is FAN freaking TASTIC as par for the course with you, my friend!) but I had to write this down as it didn't come up in the video. Namco, Nintendo and Sega all working together during the early 2000s on the TRIFORCE arcade system is really quite insane. Like, if you told gamers in the early 90s that this was going to happen, we'd all laugh. Namco had a notoriously bad relationship with Nintendo during the NES/SNES era, and Sega...well...they were rivals with. it's amazing how these three companies shifted gears and I gotta wonder if, at least in Namco's point of view, it had to do with Mr. Yamauchi stepping down in 2002. Food for thought.

Thanks a ton man!! And yeah, I remember being completely hyped up back in the early 2000s when the Triforce partnership was announced because it was unlike anything that had ever happened before! Sega working on F-Zero. Namco on Star Fox. It was just so crazy! It still breaks my heart that more games didn’t come out of it. I have to wonder if the GameCube had found more success if the Triforce partnership would’ve been more fruitful. Also, big agree on the Yamauchi thing! He did a lot for Nintendo, but he was also unnecessarily cutthroat and stubborn at times which ended up letting Sony steal a huge chunk of the market share from them.

Yes!!! I’ve been waiting for this one. Excellent work guys, I thoroughly enjoyed this series. It was sad to see StarFox lose its way after SF64, although I did have fun with Assault and Command ended up being much better than I expected. IDK about Zero, though … I need to get back to that one at some point and give it another chance.

I don't know how a re-release of "Star Fox Zero" would work with a traditional controller setup, it's not a traditional game. You don't really need two screens, it's a doable option but to play the whole thing single player all you need to do is switch from third to first-person and you can do that with a button press. When talking about the motion controls for this particular game, it is very hard to get used to because it's a broad-gesture game. The learning curve wouldn't be as high if you had a Wiimote and nunchuk or split Joy-Cons. Even if you added non-motion controls how would you aim? You'd have to use the second joystick, the game is designed around aiming and moving the ship separately, but in the original game second joystick was used for slowing down and boosting. So even if you get rid of the original control scheme from the Wii U I don't see how you can re-release this game without a learning curve, which isn't a bad thing that's how games should be. I really think the issue isn't so much the motion controls themselves but more the type of controller that was used to implement them.
@RewindArcade
@RewindArcade Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I certainly don’t think it would be a simple port job given how the game mechanics are baked in. I think it would require a complete rework of the stage and enemy designs which is why I imagine it hasn’t happened yet. That said, I never expected a remaster of Skyward Sword to ever happen as well for similar reasons and Nintendo proved me wrong, though I do think SF Zero would be a lot more work to make happen. Time will tell I suppose, but I’m certainly not holding my breath. 😅

@@RewindArcade reworking the whole game design just to better complement traditional controls really would make it a copy of "Star Fox 64" that's a complete waste of time.

While I do agree with you that chasing Star Fox 64 is a terrible idea and something I would never expect out of Nintendo (though they sort of did it already) and I like that they tried something new and unique with the gameplay, I think the real answer to Star Fox’s success for the future lies somewhere between Zero’s attempt at innovative controls and the old phrase “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Just my two cents anyways. 😅

Absolutely AMAZING retrospective documentary!! I love Starfox! Command and Zero are perfect examples of what I hate about Nintendo. Those games would have been great, and would have been far better received, if Nintendo would focus on just making the game instead of focusing on gimmicky gameplay nobody's asking for. I hope one day they both get re-releases on better systems with regular controls, so they reach a wider audience and attain the higher praise they rightly deserve.

I don't know what Nintendo is waiting for to re-release Star Fox Zero. The only drawback of the game was the use of the dual screen that not only has a very high learning curve, (although once you master it is amazing what you can do) but that divided the technical power of the Wiiu and prevented the graphics were better. Nintendo is very rare in depending on each franchise. Star Fox and Fzero, are two of those sagas that don't need to innovate in each release but need to improve, polish the formula and add more content in each one. Metroid is another but thank god, Dread did just that. Then you see other sagas like Mario, Pokemon or Kirby sports games that hardly innovate but at least they are economically feasible and you don't understand why they experiment so much with others.
@RewindArcade
@RewindArcade Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I support and encourage when developers regularly try to innovate on their franchises because that’s how things move forward, but I also agree that sometimes the phrase “if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it” can apply too haha. I actually didn’t think Zero was a bad game, but I’d love to see it refined and remastered with more traditional controls. I think it would really shine then! And big agree on Dread! I was so worried about that game but it turned out great!
@gabrielhuie3221
@gabrielhuie3221 Жыл бұрын
@@RewindArcade It is that there are sagas where if or if you have to innovate and others where perhaps it is better to polish and that's it. We don't always have a breath of the wild and even so, I think BOW is a logical evolution in the gameplay of Zelda that was limited mainly by the hardware. Elden Ring is the same for me, it's not innovative, it simply takes the Soul formula and expands it because exploration has always been a mainstay. As you say Star Fox Zero is not at all a bad game, but with traditional controls and an boost in graphics on Switch would finally reach the revival of the saga. Icarus Pit is for me, is a clear evolution of the concept of Star Fox and Nintendo has it as an example. Talking about Nintendo is a bomb of feelings. I love and hate it at the same time.

@@RewindArcade The idea of aiming and moving the ship separately is a great idea. In the original games there wasn't really a use for cockpit view and you were forced to only be able to shoot at things that were directly in-front of you.
