Today, The Cheerleading Worlds is the most highly anticipated competition of the season - but it wasn't always so great. In this three-part series we'll take an in-depth look into the history behind Worlds, highlight some of the greatest moments in Worlds history, and get a year-by-year view of its growth since its humble beginnings in 2004.
These videos take an incredible amount of research and time to produce, so if you enjoy please make sure to like and subscribe - any support helps me so much and I'm incredibly grateful for all those who take the time to watch my videos.

Apologies for the weird audio around the 1:00-1:30 mark - somehow my original voiceover footage was lost so I had to re-record those segments with different equipment!

😳whoops.. work and school got in the way, but now that I'm finally going to graduate and have a full-time job I'll have quite a bit more time outside of work hours to put into this series! A crazy amount of work goes into videos like these, between gathering footage, scripting, editing, storyboarding, etc. and since my channel is still so small it just sometimes doesn't really feel worth the effort (although these videos are passion projects anyway). I've recently spent some free time making shorter videos on the history of well-known teams that follow a very similar format to the history of Worlds series, so definitely make sure to check those out in the meantime. Even though my channel isn't big, I still take a lot of pride in creating very high-quality content. Hopefully that will help my channel grow, and if you have any ideas for videos you'd like to see please don't hesitate to let me know!

Sorry for the super late response!! sadly I don’t remember where I found it and don’t have the project files for this video anymore since I made it so long ago but I’m almost 100% sure that I used the video from when it was shown on ESPN, and then I just zoomed it in a bit so there wouldn’t be the little ticker at the bottom giving updates for other sports. Here’s the link to that video, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7CaadVqy8ybl4E.html Unfortunately since it’s the ESPN version they have an annoying announcer commentating over the routine the whole time but hope this helps!

Small coed was actually 5-36 members with a max of 4 boys. And stayed that way through 2008. small coed as we know it wasn’t introduced until worlds 2009 and renaming the other division to large limited coed

IMO now that cheer teams are no longer able to use popular music in their routines for copyright reasons, the music is just as bad as the early 2000s. I hope something can be worked out with the music industry and USASF because these difficult routines don’t feel as entertaining with these choppy songs that teams are using now.

I knowwww, I hate how generic cheer music sounds now, it all sounds the same.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I actually disagree - pre-2017 cheer music was so much more same-y compared to the way it is now. I can't think of an exact example off the top of my head but if you sat in the fieldhouse at worlds for an hour before the shift to non-copyrighted music you would hear the same pop song (and probably the same part of it too) at least 4 or 5 times, and to me that really defeats the purpose of cheer music which is to be unique, memorable, and meaningful to a team. That being said I am definitely not a fan of how few non-copyrighted songs there are across all cheer music since the change. I especially hate how cheer music still uses the same royalty free clips of songs they used 6 years ago in 2023. In that sense, cheer music kinda does all sound the same... but at the same time some of the most iconic music ever has come out since then, the kind that the entire audience screams every word to (ex: literally any CX SE mix in the last 5 years). Sorry for writing a novel about this haha but I think your perspective is interesting. In a lot of ways I think cheer music is better now that the producers have to be more creative and the coaches and athletes have more of a say in what their music ends up sounding like, but it's come full circle back to the original problem of hearing the same songs over and over in different teams; music.
