Great info. You're absolutely right about being trusted with other people's property, it breaks my heart every time a new scratch on my S2000 appears after being in the care of a dealer/garage. Even Honda dealers now have a crew of low-paid car-washers who don't seem to give a damn.

This dude is pretty awesome! Reminds me go an old mechanic friend of mine. Dude was the nicest and kindest guy ever. Really enjoyed working on and fixing peoples cars. I was broke when he first worked on my 88 corolla and as I progressed in my career brought him many more cars for much bigger jobs. Dude retired and had like 3 houses, big $ and a comfy retirement. Son later took over the shop, but he was not a people person. The son was always on his phone when I walked in, whereas the father greeted his customers with enthusiasm and knew them by name. The shop closed 6 months after the soon took over :-(

Don't use vinegar to get rid of the mold growing on the doors and the seats. that beautiful smell goes away forever and you're car will smell like vinegar for what seemed like a year. DO NOT!!! put your knee on the drivers seat so you can reach over to unlock the passenger door because it will eventually rip and seats are NOT cheap. Those brads in jeans will eventually rip through that leather on the left side of your seat. Don't use the cigarette lighter/charger because that center console slamming down on the cord you had plugged in will eventually make that thing pop right out. DO NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO CARRY LUGGAGE IN THE CAB. Rocks are unavoidable. Oh and keep your break reservoir filled bc it isn't just for your breaks. That is all the advice I have for you. I haven't had a pair of tires I was ever comfortable with. That a$$ end is the first thing to break loose. Keep the VSA on. I don't know if they have that on the ap1 though.

Hey john hope you see this. About the light weight flywheel ive been considering doing one when i do my clutch but ive been told to shy away since my car is a daily that it will make it not be as daily friendly in city/town driving. My oem flywheel is 16 pounds and im looking to go with an 11 pound will it still be daily friendly? The ap2 and the clutch masters is a 10-11 pound difference but if you say that will still be daily driveable then just shedding 5 pounds should be fine too for me?
@LHTPerformance
@LHTPerformance 5 жыл бұрын
Leonard Hatzell Ideally, the stock AP1 is my # choice followed by the Clutchmasters billet flywheel that’s only 2lbs lighter. I wouldn’t go any lighter than that as it does cause drivability issues. It’s more apparent under light to medium driving. Full throttle s a light weight flywheel is terrific. Keep in mind, you spend 95% driving easy back and forth.

@@JustDaTip101 The # of owners doesn't matter much. The mechanical condition of the vehicle is what is important. With 100,000+ miles on a car, no one cares how many owners it has had. Why should you care ? Have a pre-purchase inspection done by a shop that has a technician who is FAMILIAR with the S2000. You'll probably need to do a basic tune-up, oil, engine oil filter, engine air filter, cabin air filter, a.c. evacuation, and re-charged, maybe the spark plugs will need to be replaced. NGK Laser Iridium spark plugs are recommended for Acura/Honda vehicles. It may need cylinder head cover gaskets. Buy a Honda kit. He shows the gasket kit @ 6:14 in the video. And You'll likely need to replace some suspension rubber bushings & engine/transmission mounts. Wheel hub bearings & the brake pads or brake rotors and brake fluid may also need to be replaced. Also the clutch, and bearing may need to be replaced. I wouldn't buy an S2000 that needs a clutch and throw-out bearing replaced unless the price is cheap. At approximately 137k miles on it, cheap would be less than $8,000 2002 - 2003 are the best model years to buy. 2004 - 2005 are decent.

Not the filter man but the drain plug absolutely. Wasn't it like 33ft/lb. I've put just about 100,000 miles on mine. the red paint on the valve cover is pealing off. The gold i don't remember where all it's peeling but it's pretty much gone where the dip stick is inserted. For the love of god DO NOT let your break fluid reservoir get low you will not be able to shift worth $#@# and you will be lucky if you can put it in reverse. My back left strut went out after about 36,000 miles on the odometer. OMG have you ever tried to get that puppy moving in 1/2 inch of snow lol it's a B$#@. Ladders are bad (personal road experience) the big-rig riding my but with a full load of timber and the slim gap accelerated to get through was was made it memorable. Don't let your back tires get balled bc hydroplaning is a particular skill that it possesses. The car has no dents other than the one on my hardtop. I'm not sure how that happend. If someone hit it with their fist or the flex of the frame mad it cave. Also, why in the world didn't they install a button so you could easily unlock the passenger door?

Price. The only difference in ap1 and ap2 is redline minor rear suspension work, fule return line, analog throttle control vs digital (04-05 is considered the best generations for the hardcore drivers) but you can totally make a ap1 just as good as ap2. Disclaimer may have missed a few other differences. See savagegoose(?) in depth s2000 review.
