An editor told a story about a movie she worked on. In the middle of the production, the director just disappeared -when they found him he had left the country and refused to return. What's strange is that Louise Fletcher and John Rhys-Davies actually star in the film, and they were the bigger names of that era. Promotional material for the movie would have done better by featuring them instead of the cameo trio, if for no other reason than nostalgic value.

@@stevegeorge6880 Timothy Spall and Ian McNeice are both very notable actors too in the UK. Americans may know McNeice as Baron Harkonnen in the Dune miniseries. @@stevegeorge6880 He's had a really good career. He was on something called Auf Wiedersehen Pet about builders in Germany in the eighties, probably one of the most fondly remembered British series of the time. He would be notable for that alone in the UK. Since then he's appeared in tonnes of serious TV dramas etc, and regularly wins awards. Oh, and he does voiceovers for various major TV commercials which are on all the time here, so there's that too. America tends to be the graveyard of British actors. There are some really good ones who've bombed over there (and some unexpected ones who succeeded - I wouldn't have put money on Tracey Ullman, Hugh Laurie (House) and Craig Ferguson for example, but they've all done well.) Some directors like George Lucas and Stanley Kubrick knew that they could get decent actors at a fraction of the price if they used British ones instead of American.

George Clooney deserves another Academy Award for his role in this movie. If "Boyhood" is the best movie ever because it took 12 years to make, "Grizzly II" is even better because it took 40 years to make.
@guida-walker-channel

Everything about this movie is perfect for Mark's talents, so of course he didn't disappoint! By the way, Steve Inwood, the Wolverine-lookalike actor who plays Nick, had a pretty solid career in the late 70's/early 80's, if mainly in small parts. Then, in 1983, he starred in "Staying Alive", the much inferior sequel to John Travolta's "Saturday Night Fever". He had quite a big role in the movie and hoped it would make him a household name. It didn't - and the troubled production of "Grizzly II" came next. According to co-star John Rhys-Davis, "coming off the near-superstardom of Staying Alive, it made him (Inwood)… perhaps overvalue his contribution a little bit." After that, his career took a nosedive and stopped altogether in 1997. Myself and a few other dedicated fans have been trying to track him down ever since, but he seems to have disappeared into thin air, which is a shame. If anyone has any recent info on him, it would be greatly appreciated!

That’s interesting. I knew I had seen him from somewhere. I loved “Staying Alive” when I was a kid. I obviously hadn’t seen the superior first one due to being too young. I just took dance and loved anything to do with that. I had no idea that he was a fairly famous actor at one point. I’ll have to IMBD him. It’s weird that he just disappeared off the grid like that. Now you got me curious on what happened to him.

@@bayonetababe9697 Yeah, even though it was far from being a great film, I really enjoyed "Staying Alive" as well, and I still love Frank Stallone's "Far From Over" (in my case, I was old enough to have seen the first film when it came out, seems like a 100 years ago, lol)! In that same interview, John Rhys-Davies also said he had no idea whether Inwood was still alive and that he seemed to have "a problem or two". Not sure what he meant by that, but his vanishing remains a fascinating mystery to me. Thanks for your interest!

Hopefully Mark will turn his attention to Staying Alive sometime because it is 1980s cocaine fuelled madness and it must be seen to be believed. None of the nuance and grittiness of Saturday Night Fever survived the 70s, so mountains of blow were the only option. And it shows. 9 thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Former poacher here. Dropping of the gun technique is real. What you do is shoot wildly, one handed is fine, then drop the gun (as we see). Then, whatever animal you were shooting at gets mad, goes for the gun, then when the animal has the gun pointed at you, you shoot it with your hidden, secret gun. Now it’s self-defense and not illegal poaching. White rhinos and polar bears are notorious for falling for this trick, which is why there’s so few of them.

Fun fact: When I heard the movie involved a concert, I instantly became suspicious. After checking it out, I was right - the concert footage was shot in Hungary. My father often talks about this concert - in Hungarian it's referred to as the "Fenevad" (beast) concert. It was, AFAIK, the first large scale concert in Hungary, and marked the gradual shift from soviet rule to independence in the 80s. My dad said it was the first large concert he's ever been on, and he recalls the crowd being massive. Bless his heart, he had no reference. He laughingly told us that he only later found out that the concert was for a shitty western movie, that even ended up bombing. The worst part is - they obviously never got to see the movie. Now I might have to show thus to him. Anyway, now you know - as bad as this movie is, it's very much historical. For the record - if you're interested in the Hungarian bands appearing, you should check out LGT or Locomotive GT.
