I mean besides the slight safety hazard such doors possess… that’s part of what made and still makes the Delorian cool in the first place, besides the movie and well, its style…. A cybertruck with this doors would at least make it sensible and also a way for Passengers to IDK…. get out of a car on fire!

The Cybertruck seems to have managed to combine the build quality of a british 80s sports car, the design of the worst combination of straight edged 80s design combined with the design sense and restraint of Jeremy Clarkson.

I will defend it in so much it looked cool as a render back in 2019, it would make a cool enough toy car or something in a videogame, but even without the panel gaps it simply doesn't translate to real life.

Hi,thx for talking about Brazilian cars at around 10:36,let me clarify some things to ya 1-The Caravan/Opala are legendary cars here in Brazil they started making them back in the early 60s and the last one rolled out the factory with the same platform in 1992 when the Opala/Caravan were replace by the Omega/Suprema. 2- Yes the Hillman Avanger thing actually happened,it became the Dodge Polara/1800 here in brazil. 3-The Apollo happened when Ford and Volkswagen decided to Marge and become Autolatina,Autolatina was basically Ford and VW sharing car parts and even some whole car models with each other and that's when the Apollo was born, its sister car the Ford Verona is basically a 2 door version of the european Orion. 4-The reason why Ford based 3 cars on a renault 12 was because originally it was not Ford that decided to join hands with Renault and make the Corcel,it was Aero Willys, they were partners with Renault back in the day, they even sold some Renault models here in Brazil, one being the Renault Gordini, well anyways back in the late 60s Aero Willys was bought by Ford of Brazil and they decided to go though what Aero Willys had in its concept department and they found the Corcel,a car that basically was a Renault 12 with two doors and a more American design,Ford loved the little Corcel and decided to sell it under the Ford brand,it was a great car back in its day and a lot were sold,Ford them decided to make the Corcel 2 in the late 70s using the Renault 12 platform again and that's the one you see on the picture, the Del Rey also used that same platform from the Renault 12 because back in the day Ford was not doing great here in Brazil so they had to use the same platform as the Corcel 2 to make the Del Rey,the Del Rey was meant to be a 4 door luxurious version of the Corcel 2. 5-The reason why most cars here only had 2 doors Is because back in those days: 4 doors=cheap/fleet car 2 doors=expensive/luxurious 6-The VW Santana always had a 2 door version here in Brazil, also the Santana is based on the European VW Passat B2,because of that the Ford Versailles is technically Passat based. 7- The VW Pointer was based on the 90s Escort and it was the last car to share parts between VW and Ford under the Autolatina thing. Sorry for the bad english,I really love your stuff, you should do a video talking about the Brazilian car industry at some point,we have one of the weirdest car industries in the whole world, hugs from Brazil.❤❤❤

The straight 8 engine configuration is actually a well balanced engine. This may be different with those that were prominent in Europe, but the straight eights in the American market were some of the smoothest running engines available. I've been messing around with later Buick straight eights for several years and find them to be a very good engine for large sedans; while the under square design doesn't produce tremendous horsepower, the spectacular torque curve provides good performance for highway cruising from an engine with less than 350 cubic inches in the largest example.

Part of what i love about this channel is that i havent heard conversation about eclectic historical cars like this since back when i was a member of the (North American) Alfa Romeo club. Never owned a Alfa they were just exceptionally nice guys who did lots of track, autocross, road rally and concour events who allowed any type of car owner to join. Not just irl convos but also came with subscription to magazine they would publish every month that had similar stories, like the tale of how the guilia sprint ss was "prepared" for its paint that still gives me a laugh and haunts my dreams 😂 😢 You guys go hard with the deep and the interesting but often too forgotten history.

One thing to mention about the Audi R8 that I think is pretty cool is that the V10 engine kinda served as the basis for the O7K that went in the RS3 and TTRS. They basically cut the V10 in half, slapped a turbo on the side, and dropped it in a compact.

Shout out to VisioRacer, he finds some great footage. I never really knew much of anything about early(or modern) Formula 1. I've been going down some rabbit-holes while listening to this, so this video is already awesome. I don't get some of the more Euro-centric references, however, looking them up is opening up a fascinating world to me that I never knew about. I really dig the way that Chevy Caravan Diplomata looks as well, beautiful car. I don't think we ever got a variant of that in the States. The Versailles and the Pointer are the only cars from the game that look familiar to me. I got 0/6 in the game, but at least I found out about a beautiful old Chevy!

The Cybertruck, the BMW XM, and the impending Capri are truly the holy trinity of everything wrong with the current day automotive industry. And to think that they started off with a perfectly good Renault 12. They need to up their game. As for the Prelude, I think Honda has said it won't be a performer, so we'll just have a repeat of the CR-Z on our hands. Also, I may be wrong but the FT-Se looks like it has a bit of Lotus Evora in it, especially with regards to the roofline. And grey plastic side cladding needs to go away. Make it either gold or silver and pair it with an actual color, or just make it body color to begin with. Thank you both for this podcast. Despite the rather depressing subject matter, the two of you are a delight to listen to!
